This was my entry for the Little People Jan '15 Beauty Pageant, so I figured I may as well post it here as well. 77164 Elliwyn Heatherlark 77126 Vermin: Spider I probably shouldn't have picked this project for my first attempts at painting drow skin, white hair, freehand details, realistic gems, and both silver and gold NMM all at the same time, lol. This started out as just me goofing around during the painting binge weekend a few months ago, but turned into a much bigger project when I decided to enter her in this. Originally, I was just trying to do something with all the KS bones I was never going to paint - I grabbed a random handful of them and started splicing. Which is why she was glued together and based before I started greenstuffing or painting, and why I just couldn't be bothered to remove a lot of the mold lines... Once I got her stuck together, I realized just greenstuffing the join between her waist and the spider wouldn't cut it, so I extended her tunic into a skirt. Then I realized - after she was already three-quarters painted - that I'd sliced her straight across under the belt, which left lumps on her belt on either side from the stuff that used to hang off it... So I had to sculpt a large pouch on her right side and a loop on the other to hold her sword (I hate minis holding weapons with no visible place to stow them...) (Yes, there really are shadows and highlights on her, her eyes are red, the freehand on the shield was meant to be a stylized spiderweb, and the base was given several sloppy washes so the tide marks when they dried would make the grey base look like a cavern floor...) Crappy pics ahoy! http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/xq90/909/H0joq5.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/xq90/540/eWtvwt.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/xq90/673/2FXJWQ.jpg And now for the bonus round... What do you do with all your spare parts after the conversions? I call it... I- doll -atry: Worshipping The Golden Calf http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/xq90/903/8wZ6Og.jpg Inspired by both the temple idol in the beginning of Raiders of the Lost Ark and by the "Major Award" leg lamp from A Christmas Story. The stone pillar and base are handsculpted. I'm personally most proud of how the sword came out, although I will freely claim that it looks that good because I had Derek Schubert's version of this mini onscreen the whole time and blatantly copied it as best I could. C&C welcome, although I'm aware I messed up the jewel effect on her belt and the NMM on her necklace - I was rushing this piece and settled for a half-arsed job on some of the details... You may now all be too apathetic to point and laugh...
