  1. This one is coming along nicely. A few hours later got some highlights done. Antlers did. Skin on the face touched up. Beard kind of done. Eyes done...i think? Next up will be the mouth and teeth. I have no idea what to do with those strange ports on his head behind his eyes. Open for ideas. Also struggling with beard and mustache on this guy. Need ideas for his tail color. As well a need color ideas for spines on his arms and legs.
  2. So, this wasn't it's actual final form, but it's as far as the pictures went before I took it in for a contest. I'm hoping it has a decent chance. This was a great practice and test of my patience. I had to pick it up on 4 different occassions to really finish it. First was the cleaning alone, which was pretty serious. Not to mention that this guy needed some securing to the base that required some "oomph" to get it in place. I had to use the ol' baking soda and superglue cement at the contact points to ensure he wasn't going anywhere. I'm really proud of the look and texturing in the antlers. I did three colors with stipling and it came out pretty fair. I did take a note from someone to brighten that beard up, so I went with yellow. I'm not super happy with how it came out, but I agree it was needed to be bright. The eyes were really fun to do and done in a method I hadn't tried before. Having a big eye to work with was helpful. I painted from the outer edges to the center with sripes giving it a very 'star burst' look. Sadly the colors I used were yellow/orange/white and it can't be seen really well in the photo, but it did come out great. I do have a question on some feedback: 1. Would you add more color to that statue base? 2. Can that base handle some flock or something glued to it? I wanted to do this on a water scene like it's half buried under water, but just didn't have the time. I'd also love any input anyone has for any improvements you can throw at it. As many of you have given it before know - I use it and love it.
