    77057: Yukata Sorceress

So, I looked at this sculpt and thought to myself, "My, that's a lot of flat, undetailed space on this sculpt. I should do something fun with it." I need to get something better than my cell phone for these shots. There's metallic gold patterning as well, but it doesn't show up D: Now to work more on my patterned-fabric Yephima...
  2. Here is another miniature I plan to try to finish up for RCon.

    02096: Angel Of Death

This is a miniature I've had for a long time. Painted it when I was young. :) Still love the model. So much personality.

    77040: Satheras, Male Elf Warlock

This is my first completed figure and my first Bones figure. I've worked on it for weeks, on and off, to use it in a tabletop game. I was attempting to achieve an inner glow from the crystal, but I don't think it worked out as well as it I was hoping. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Elquin, High Elf Adventurer

One of my friends asked me to find a druid miniature to paint up to use as his D&D character. I found some possibilities for him and he choose the metal version of Elquin. Any input would be appreciated.
  7. Here's my completed Khael for the Little People Pageant and part of my February count for the resolutionary painting challenge. I'd been looking at this guy on my shelf for a long time. I painted one of him for a fellow gamer that wanted him in typical Gandalf colors. The one on my shelf though I'd been flip flopping between yellow robes and red robes. Decided to go with the yellow. It was my husband's suggestion to give him dark brown hair with a little salt'n'pepper graying going on. I could probably improve on that, but I like it better than when I tried the same for the pirate captain and it didn't turn out as well. Anyways, comments and criticism appreciated!
  8. Hey there all, This is my first time painting a miniature; I have always wanted to do it and just never did. So finally a group of my friends and I set up a game of Pathfinder and I needed a mini for my character. This presented the perfect opportunity for me to try my had at painting a miniature. I tried out a few different techniques, layering, drybrushing, oil wash and like the final product. Any constructive criticisms would be appreciated. Cheers all, Will

    Floating Elf Mage

I have been working on a project in blender, and could use some criticism. Unfortunately, I haven't converted this to a JPEG, but I will change it out as soon as it is possible. One of the things that is horrible with sculpting in 3d is that the details can become faded or nonexistent when the print is made, but with a 16 micron resolution almost all of the details you see should make it. The head is missing right now, and the arms and hands are just being set up for general shape before I can get into detail work. Some armor doesn't have support behind it if you look closely. I am sorry if this should have gone in sculpting, if so I would appreciate if a mod would move it.
  10. I’m working on finishing the rest of my Otherworld dungeon adventurers before the last part of the Indiegogo campaign and next in line was the Male Human Illusionist. There’s parts of him I’m pleased with and some I’m not. I could have worked more on the “skirt†and the face didn’t come together. On the other hand the figure has lots of small nicknacks that came out quite nicely.
  11. This little guy have been sitting on my shelf basecoated and begging to be finished for about a year now. Since I’m focusing more on my metal miniatures this year, and focusing on getting them done, I picked this up and applied the finishing touches. At first I wasn’t happy at all. The whole paintjob just looked dirty. And not the good kind of “in a dungeon for a while†dirty, but just plain “sloppy paintjob†dirty. I didn’t manage to take it all the way but at the end I’m pretty satisfied with the result.
  12. I finally finished up my second Stonehaven gnome wizard. A fellow gamer had seen photos of mine and asked me to paint one up for his Forest Gnome Illusionist. I had alot of fun with this project and I quite like how he turned out. I really enjoyed bringing someone else's character to life and this little guy is such fun to paint. Thank you to all my forum members who helped me along the way in my WIP I appreciate all the suggestions and comments, they really help. Here is Dixie complete with a squirrel companion. I used Reaper's squirrel from Familiar Pack IV. Oh and I tried both a black and blue background so bear with me on the photos. Before I send him off I will take a few more photos with a tripod as even though I can steady my hand to paint I can't while taking pictures. Edit** My husband took a few closeups for me so I wanted to share it here as well.

    03381: Satheras, Elf Warlock

Finished up the month with Bobby Jackson's Satheras, Elf Warlock. This is the metal version. I'll be using him as an NPC in the Pathfinder Game I'm running--Gerinnes Lefelen, an elven wizard who's the de facto ruler of a town and the PC's benefactor . . . for now. Mwah ha ha. I'd had this mini on my to-get list for quite some time, having wanted to paint it since the moment I saw it, but I must confess that once I started getting into it I found the robes a little silly, regarding what's part of what and what's not. I just kind of winged it, in the end, hehe, without being altogether sure how it should go. But it was still pretty fun. Thanks for looking! Comments and criticism are always appreciated.

    A Troll Mage

Finally finished the adorable Troll Mage from Stonehaven:- I felt she had a real '80s childrens fantasy film' vibe, so I made her rather colourful! Super pleased with how she turned out, particularly the eyes, I think they're my best ones yet (though that probably has more to do with their size than any real levelling up of my skills). C&C, as always, is appreciated.

    02836 Piers, Young Mage

Here's a little guy I picked up a while ago but just got around to. I'm not as happy about this one for the most part. Just feel like I didn't do the sculpt justice. Happier about the hair and overall color scheme, though.

    Lenore, Hasslefree Miniatures

This is Lenore from Hasslefree Miniatures. I should thin my paints more since the finish is a bit blotchy but overall I'm quite pleased with the outcome. It's a great miniature that was easy to paint. Linked for nudity: Front Side
  19. I started to paint my first cyclops today. If someone did this mini and his maste, I would like to see how it was connected with his master. I'm not sure how I will do it in the moment. First picture is little blurry, but I didn't do much, only painted skin and fur in vallejo royals purple: After drying I painted the fur in vallejo pale yellow and used old GW Chestnut ink: He lost his hand while painting him, I think I will use 2-component-glue this time.
  20. I've basecoated this guy a while back and posted him to my Springpad Notebook for Miniatures Owned pending returning to him. I reviewed the two-brush blending, as well as glazing, and some other videos and wanted to test out some techniques. Initial entry from Springpad: I'll see if I can find those practice note cards for the book inscriptions and post pictures. Here's Leisynn with his initial basecoating: I liked for the most part what I got on him, so a good start IMO. He's even been used in a game night during my recent vacation. So, first I tackled the robe back and sleeves. I added shadows and highlighting. I might deepen those later but I like where it's at. I then tackled the under-robe or whatever you would like to call it. All I achieved here is to even out the tone of the brown. You can also see from the front and back photos that I made the mantle and shoulder piece a brighter red with shading. I left the skulls the cream/tan color and glazed the ornate weave on the shoulders with the red and wiped the raised pieces back to tan/cream. I added a darkening thinned brown to the book cover. I wanted the skull and corner protectors to stand out a bit more. I left the pages alone as I think the initial painting there works well. The skull is metallic gold but I think the finishing colors will be antiqued gold and some yellow burnished highlights. Same with the corners. The skull and horns on his head and at his waist are ivory with a tan glazing added. I'll continue to step those along while messing with the figure as a whole. In the end, I really want higher contrast on those two pieces. The snake staff ... I lightened the wood of the staff on the top and added some tan to it's face. It's got a rattle at the back which I will also maintain tan/yellow gold I think. I have considered building a color pattern on top of the scales but could easily let it drop after I get farther into the piece. More to come as I practice on him. As always comments, questions and criticisms welcome.

  23. So here are the final official shots of my Secret Sophie 2012 project. I really hope my Secret Sophie pal likes the work I invested in this wizard. I received a lot of encouragement over in my WIP, so I'm hoping that the final product is something that they enjoy. I'd love to see this guy as either a tortured hero in someone's DnD game, or even a villain who once stood on the side of good. A huge thank you to everyone for their feedback and to MonkeySloth and chaosscorpion for the birch seed leaves which adorn the base. I actually 'signed' this one since he's headed out the door.
