  1. I received a request for more modern female minis who weren't just pulp, so I pulled these. Did one before I realized I was correct in hating assembly. I'm not sure how reasonable it is to expect people to glue pieces so small I could fit at least 10 on my pinkie fingernail. A lot of cuts that really didnt seem very necessary. No cleanup yet, most of the bits were too small to clean up before gluing.
  2. Since I like painting when it is dark outside I normally don't take photos, to combat this and get into the habit I am starting this thread. I will post some of my recent work, including things that are 95% done and are only missing a base. Some of the photos may not be the best, but they should suffice. Any advice and criticism is welcome. So let us get started: An old Pandora Metal starter set from Malifaux (and some Victoria Miniatures): The skin for the baby was done using Mars Violet (PR101), Nickel Titanate Yellow (PY53) and Titanium White (PW6). I may have also used T
  3. I picked this figure because I like it but don't have strong attachment to it. The face turned out a bit mushy, but eh, s'ok. OSL was a "hmm, it should be there". Skin tones are Reaper vampiric and dusky triads. Most of the rest of the figure is with Kimera Kolors which are crazy heavy pigments; this figure was an experiment in learning how to use them. Photo is... so so. Didn't have ability to set up proper station so this'll have to do for now.
  4. I haven't posted here much, as I lost painting last year to depression. But I have made great strides, both in battling the mind disease and in painting! It's not Reaper, but I wanted to show off these Malifaux Gremlins because I am so proud of them. I look forward to posting more here as I paint. I have a whole shelf of Reaper minis in my backlog! - Magic Brew
  5. Howdy, I don't know what this is... But I like it, Kev!
  6. Howdy, Those nerve wracking sounds in the night? A Hunting Hoarcat Pride usually leaves humans alone... Kev! P.S. Usually...
  7. Malifaux: Ten Thunders Shadow Emissary painted as a blue dragon
  8. Howdy, Nope! Kev! P.S. Nope, nope, nope!
  9. The Hog Wild Crew from the game Malifaux by Wyrd Games. Warning: I don’t play Malifaux, but I do love these minis. Apologies in advance about any in-game mistakes I might make here. These are the entire contents of the boxed set called “Hog Wild”. HIPS plastic miniatures, many pretty small parts and a bit fiddly, especially the bonus gremlin (to the left) that was included in the box. Even so, lovely minis with a great sense of both personality and movement. The Hog is called “Old Major” but I have done him up as the tyrant Napoleon from the Animal Far
  10. Misaki, Outcast for Malifaux. She was my first attempt at underpainting to create shadows. It didn't work and she was very tough to paint due to her pose. So she got abandoned on my shelf of shame a few years ago. However, now she is rescued and finished.
  11. Malifaux Viktoria of Blood For Hobby Hangout Resolution contest and Jan/Feb Resolutionary Painting. These are the Done, but not Finished images. Hence WiP and not Show Off. Ill post some other WiP images as i clean up my phone. She was a serious pain to assemble. And painting assembled was also painful. Not a good combo for sanity, but an interesting figure.
  12. So, The very first mini I pulled out of the BOGW when I got it, was a Malifaux mini.... As soon as I saw it, I knew how I had to paint it! So I give you @Sylverthorne the Girlblin! Hope you like it!!!!!! George Abbreviated WIP here (Didn't have time to record everything with the need to get it done for Wednesday.....)
  13. Been a while since I have been able to paint as work has been insane of late. GM asked me to find a goblin alchemist. Had a gremlin taxidermist from Mailfaux that worked perfect for what he wanted. Still trying work out how to do a saliva bubble and drool. Drool should be the easy one. From what I can work out NPC is meant to be some disgusting little thing who becomes a party member.
  14. Here are a couple minis that I painted for a client a while ago but never got around to posting. From what I could tell, he plays a little bit of every faction.
  15. Recently decided to paint up McTavish from Malifaux. I don't play the game, but I wanted to paint an alligator. Definitely gave my greens a workout on this one. I'm really happy with how the belly scales came out. I used tusk ivory and then the GW sepia wash, then re-highlighted with more tusk ivory and a little linen white.
  16. So here's one I did in honour of Halloween and for a FB contest (ala Troll's Den). He was finished a bit ago, I don't have good pictures of him, just my phone stuff. He's waiting for his friends :D I've since fixed his pose as it was pretty hard to figure out how to get him on the little stone wall he stands on, properly. First time really using purple as a main colour. I wanted to do something other than the usual black for bat type thing. And I started his shorts off as an orange, transitioning up closer to yellow. All of which was new and different for me! I like how some of the h
  17. I've just comp'leted another model for my Malifaux Neverborn crew: Very quick paintjob, as usual, I have aimed just to a nice tabletop quality. Unable to decide on painting what’s on her hands as skin or as a towel, I chose a color similar to the skin tone, but lighter. So it could be both… Once finished, I alternated matte and gloss coat, to give contrast between skin and skinless parts. I think it looks nice. More pics: https://gabbigames.wordpress.com/2016/08/12/neverborn-doppelganger/ Comments will be welcome :)
  18. I'm on a devil kick at the moment. Wyrd's Lilitu (metal version). Anyone know who the sculptor is? The Cinnamon Red received as a freebie during the 12 days of Christmas sale is proving well suited to for devil skin. More pics/info on my blog.
  19. So I put this guy together today and painted him o.O bit of a quick job for me but he was really fun to paint. Still working on taking better pictures sigh. I was trying to get a good shot of his shirt because I did a little cute thing on it. But his arms kinda cast a shadow on it. Anyway, hopefullly it's still recognizable
  20. This was a quick paint job that I did to see if I could do a mini in one day. She was started when I volunteered at the Paint and Take at OrcCon where I worked on her for a few hours and then finished a couple of days later with another hour or two of work.
  21. So, my new project is mostly in my head at present, but I'll try to describe what I'm envisioning. I am making a terrain piece that is going to represent the Great Breach portal in Malifaux. For those who dunno, it's essentially a portal from our world into the other side, which is a very odd sci fi, gothic, horror, steampunky kind of dangerous world. At first to represent this, I thought I'd make an actual picture as if you'd see it through the portal. But, one that's not very terrain-y so to speak, plus I really think it's beyond my skills. So what I'd like to do is, on one side of the p
  22. Gotta just call it done, here s/he is in all his/er glory (I dunno always thought it was a guy but lore calls out girl, whatev, it's a gremlin so it's up for debate)
  23. Dr. Philodendron Arkadius, my mutagen focused Alchemist. I wanted two different forms of the same mini to represent the transformation, and I dig this mini. He had a gun in his hand, and that didn't fit, so I lopped it off and make a potion vial out of green stuff. For the mutagen form, I was channeling Solomon Grundy from DC comics, hence the alabaster skin. I want to do some type of cool base for both, but haven't decided what yet. Might just do cobble stones, with a shattered vial on the ground of the mutagen form, Arkady. Human form! Mutant Form!
