... I'm not going back, Jim. ... Did a painting and assembly session with my youngest this afternoon. Decided what the heck, I had the supplies around, so instead of my usual foil-on-a-paper-plate palette, I layered a folded wet paper towel and a piece of baker's parchment paper on top of the foil. A homemade wet palette in other words. Ohhhhh man, what a difference! Aside from getting used to the wet paint pulling together (interesting, and clearly shows you how much paint you have left), and watching out for wet colors mixing, this is infinitely better than my creaky, wasteful old method. I may never go back. I am grateful to all the people who have developed so many ways to do this stuff. I doubt I would have thought of wet palettes on my own. ... And yes, I do know Spock never actually says that in "This Side of Paradise."
