  1. Hello forum Family, gonna show you my version of D'Vandra Lukesia, the metal one. I had hard time with her (but this is part of the fun, isn't?), so many tiny details and her face is sooo tiny In any case I managed to paint her and I'm happy of she came out! About the palette I chose the colors on the fly, started with the yellow skirt and simply add colors at the moment I needed to paint a detail, like the amaranth scarf, or the blue bag, the green vial, and so on. I hope you like her too :) Hi-res pics
  2. Short Kickstarter from Bad Squiddo games for female Soviet troopers for WWII gaming. Thiis expands their existing range and adds troops clad for winter. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/badsquiddogames/women-of-ww2-soviet-russia-28mm-miniatures Story Hello! This is a Kickstarter to increase our existing WW2 Soviets range. Already massively popular since the first wave launch of 2016, we decided it needs reinforcements! The miniatures are sculpted and master cast, so this project is to cover the funds of production moulds and the initial casts.
  3. Another little piece that I am happy to finally have completed. I love these monsters and they are often in my dungeons but rarely seen and never sought after. Hunting these is like hunting the garbage collector, you only do it when you think you threw out something valuable. But there have been a couple of points where I wished I had a miniature for it and now that's resolved. Hope you like him... I named him Fred
  4. Hello everyone, here is my spirit of the forest 02690, Owlbear. It was sculpted by Jason Wiebe. I placed it on a 50mm base and painted it with Reaper MSP paint. I already had painted this model 10 years ago, you can see the other version here.
  5. Just one more for now. I recently received a kickstarter which had decal pages for books and scrips. They were primarily for warhammer but the author made some changes during the kickstarter to make them more system neutral. I got them and then went looking for a mini to try them on. I found Lor Gorna first and this was the result. I liked the mini and i also liked the color i got on his robes and cloak! And of course his purpose, the book, came out pretty well too!
  6. I had a metal mr. Grimm sitting around, so I figured better paint it before the bones version shows up. So cold mr. Grimm
  7. Well 2020 is over and even though the year wasn't so great I did get my dragon goal of 12 dragons completed (actually completed 15 !) So with the new year I'm looking to try it again. The last year I did a bunch of dragons from all eras a d makes. This year I think I will make the challenge a little more specific. This year I'll try for 12 dragons from defunct companies: grenadier, Ral Partha, Thunderbolt Mountain, heritage, and others that are no longer producing today. Whether i include minis from companies that died recently, im not sure (and I know Ral Partha lives on as Ir
  8. Avast, me mateys! Hoist the skull and crossbrains!
  9. Honestly didnt realize the size of this figure when I'd ordered her. Came in and I was like, oooh she's giantkin or some kind of goliath. Mine also had a hole in the base, but since I was extending the metal plate out to fit on a plastic base anyone, no worries.
  10. My Secret Sophie arrived at its destination i can share with everyone. My recipient wanted something cute. I thought it would be cute to have a man feeding his pet. Just because his pet happens to be a rust weevil should not be held against him. I saw the barbarian and it looked like he was throwing the swords rather than. Actually using them to hit anything. I also had a spare rust weevil and the whole thing just came together. Roger got the old swords out of the box from his adventuring days. It had been a while since he'd been out to the dungeons but at the rat
  11. Dark Haven Legends Borley, Male ghost. I had a lot of fun this this one, On top of making him fly, I really wanted to make it look like he was from a black and white movie. Doing that but keeping everything distinct with such a limited color palette was challenging. I really enjoyed this project. I hope you like it.
  12. Warren of Vile Fungi is scheduled to start at 7:00 pm EST on Friday, November 1. It will include over 2 dozen individual fungoid-based miniatures developed and sculpted by Pedro Navarro. He's been working on this project for over 2 years in collaboration with Mortal Arrow. It's a deep dive into heroic, fantastic, and terrifying fungal beings from the 1970's to the present. Ascomoids, Gas Spores, Basidironds, Ustilagors, corrupted Myconids, and heroic Myconids are just some of the many hand-sculpted miniatures from Pedro. The project itself will be live for only 2 weeks, so please c
  13. continuing my quest to paint down some of my metal mountain of dragons is my second Green Dragon II from Grenadier. I wound up with multiple copies of this dragon (I wont say how many but i still have another in its original box...) so when i noticed that i had primed this one a while ago, i decided to try the painting method from Mocha's painting a Rocky class during Reapercon (thanks @Mocha I am getting a lot of use out of that technique and it has definitely helped me with contrast in everything I paint) of starting with the darkest colors and working up to the brightest. This is the resu
  14. Lardgulp I painted for my FLGS's painting club.
  15. As the year wears on i continue to complete my personal challenge of 12 dragons in 12 months. (I have to go count but i think i am there... not sure though so I keep it up!) this is another oldie but goodie from the third Dragon of the month series by Grenadier. this was the January offering, the black dragon. I decided that this dragon liked his underground layer so the base is done as a broken river skree. the large open space made me add a small geode, just to see if i could do it. The dragon is painted with dark blacks and Purple shadow (which act
  16. Simple paint job for the Mushroom King. I wanted it to be all white, like a typical mushroom from your refrigerator, but that was way too boring. But I do like the small pops of color here and there. As always comments and critiques welcomed and encouraged!
  17. Further efforts to produce a dozen dragons this year brought me out to the desert sands where even dragons new to worry about being spotted if they want a decent meal. To this end desert dragons are campflaged to look like the ground from above and the sky from below. Hope you enjoy him
  18. The latest from my bench, Reaper Minis Sir Conlan. This is a character for my D&D game. Player requested muted colors but a contrasting blue cloak. What do you think? Did I succeed? As always C&C welcomed and encouraged.
  19. I painted this up for my running game as an NPC. Had a heck of a time with her face - I seem to had inadvertantly ended up with a sort of mask effect on her eyes - and I'm going with that in game - sort of fits the NPC anyway
  20. Painted this dwarf after he inspired me to write a D&D adventure. It's a really cool fig with plenty of neat little details. Comments and critiques are always welcome! Thanks in advance!
  21. Like the post title states this is a set called Agamemnon and the Minotaur by Northumbrian Tin Soldier. I’m not all that good with photo skills so it’s rather hard to see that I did the Minotaur in a black & white milk cow theme. Fun model though and goes back to the 80s cult classic Time Bandits (I really need to watch that movie again).
  22. Ladless and Gentlemints, I've been kicking this idea around for a while now. And with the current isolation I think it's a great time. I propose a craft paint challenge. I have tons of great miniature paints from various brands, but for the sake of fun lets see what we can do with craft paints. This is my proposal. Grab a random miniature, Bones or otherwise, and ideally whatever craft paints you have on hand (no going to the store for craft paints, this is to promote social distancing) and see what you can do. This will serve two purposes. It will be a fun way to throw some paint on a miniat
  23. This is another bogle for Monster Blood Tattoo though it happens to look a lot like an especially large werewolf. First the sculpt: Although fur is often difficult to clean the parting line on this one was largely invisible to begin with. Second the paint: It lent itself to a simple drybrush, but I've gone for such dark colors it doesn't show up in the photo. Third the question: I just glued it to a round base today and can't decide how I should finish the base. It's going to be used in tabletop skirmish games so it doesn't need anything fancy. I just
  24. This is one of my favourite minis and I have been working on it for awile. I hmmd and hawd about how to base it but finalluy decided to do a simple raised cork base.
  25. Hadn't painted metal in a while... it was refreshing!
