Hi All! As I've been going through my Bones 5 goodies, I started wondering. I've never owned such a massive quantity of unpainted miniatures all at the same time. What's the best way to store them? I don't want to throw them all in one big box - I won't ever find anything there when needed. Assembling anything that is not being worked on at the moment is a bad idea. So, keeping the unassembled in their little bags then? Maybe try to categorize them - orcs go here, elves go there? How do you store your unpainted minis? Please share!

"Over 1800 Jungle Themed Terrain Pieces Made for the World's Greatest Roleplaying Game, and Others Like it." "This Kickstarter marks the release of our two newest books in the Dungeon Craft series "Fallen Kingdom & Jungles of Dread". Both books have nearly 1,000 jungle-themed pieces in them, which allow DMs to build custom interactive maps in a brand new setting. As of this Kickstarter, we will have launched 6 total campaigns, and have brought numerous products to the market. Additionally, we're excited to announce jungle-themed versions of past projects will be brought back for this Kickstarter! This includes the Deck of Stories/ NPC Cards, Dungeon Notes, and new models from our miniature line Counterspell Miniatures. We'll also be unveiling new and exciting products like our jungle DM screen and our Crocodile Jasper D20." https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1985games/dungeon-craft-series-three-two-new-terrain-books-for-dandd/description ******* 1985 Games have launched their third Dungeon Craft Kickstarter. The last two have been fantastic and I absolutely love them. While I enjoy painting minis, I'm not a fan of building terrain or scatter, especially since it tends to block sight or get knocked over and is a pain to store. These 2D terrain pieces are a great compromise. I haven't seen anyone else talk about Dungeon Craft on the forums, but I definitely advocate! If you missed their last two KS there's opportunity to get those as well. And for the first time they're offering some original minis as Add-Ons.

Hello friends!! I'm wanting to do a little market research and I'm hoping I can get your help. For Bones V I sculpted a bunch of kids heroes and their pet companions. These were some of my favorite figures to work on and I'd like to do more. To be very very clear I have NO indication that Reaper will be producing any more of those types of figures and I'm in no way promising to create anything we discuss here. I have no shortage of ideas when it comes to new kid heroes but I'm wanting to see what types of figures people would want if hypothetically I decided to create more. I really like the idea of doing brother/sister sets, offering male and female options for particular races or themes. Simply from a design perspective it allows me to explore an idea more fully. Again, this is purely for my personal side projects and fun, not related to any official releases. That said, it's nice to know what the thoughts were about the ones I've already made and what holes people may want filled within that genre. My questions are: •What did you like/love/hate/ignore about the kid heroes from Bones V? •What themes or types of kid heroes would you be interested in? •What purpose would they serve for you? Just fun to paint? Have kids who want to play but struggle to find a figure that represents them? Using them as stand ins for hobbits/halflings/gnomes or other vertically challenged races? •What themes would you like to see explore in this context? Steampunk, modern, arthurian, more "random fun" types, traditional villager or starting hero types? Dragonkin, Genasi or other less popular fantasy races?

Story Welcome to the Splintered Light Miniatures 15mm Return to the Black Root Forest Kickstarter Campaign. For many years, renowned sculptor Ben Siens has added great sculpts to our line of fantasy figures. A year ago, we ran a successful campaign adding beastmen and treemen into our range of miniatures. Over the past year, Siens has sculpted more wonderful figures for us and we decided to offer them to you via a second Kickstarter. Our primary goal for this campaign is getting the funds needed for the production molds and initial castings. Our hope is that as we get the funding for production molds, we can also keep Ben sculpting new figures for future lines. We need you help to get this done so please pledge today! Our plan is to have 11 new codes but we will also be offering these along with the entire range of Ben Siens sculpted figures. There's only 4 days left in the campaign, so if you want some well-made 15mm goodness... https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/splinteredlightminis/return-to-the-blackroot-forest/description

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/fieldofscreams/field-of-screams?ref=user_menu Just wanted to throw this one out there. Witchborn is a rather cool tabletop minis game, but there is also a companion app for each scenario with a lot of variety that allows you to play that scenario many times, but each one can be a very different experience. Your warband will also evolve over time. I discovered the game at GenCon in 2017 and have really enjoyed it every time I've played. Plus, Cory is really cool and responsive. I haven't checked this out yet, but you can also play the game on Roll20. Did I mention that they use Reaper Bones minis?

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1793510285/fatal-fantasy-2-more-casualty-bases-for-wargaming For when your heroes are slightly less than heroic? Welcome to the 2nd release of Fatal Fantasy! Edit (29/09/2020) NEW Painted pictures in Gallery and Stretch Goal Update. Edit (12/09/2020) NEW Stretch Goal section added! Edit (21/09/2020) NEW Add-ons added! This project brings you 23 new fantasy casualties for use in your tabletop wargames or board games. You'll find close-ups and measurements in 'The Miniatures' section, please also take a look at the contents of the 'Pledges' section and the details in the 'Shipping' section. Excellent painted examples by the talented Paul Allen from 'Toomuchdevlan' and Russ Painting are dotted between the sections with more in the 'Gallery'. The original sculpts and metal production moulds have been finished and tested in advance so metal miniatures will be ready to ship as soon as the funding period is ended in mid-October. I have included a resin option for the casualty bases too - this is to give backers outside of the UK, a cheaper shipping option. However, the resin casualty casts won't be ready until mid-November. (International backers can also choose metal but the shipping costs will be very high due to the weight of the miniatures). I've deliberately kept the resin availabilty low - this is to make sure there are no delays due to casting lead time. If the casting gets ahead of schedule, I will add further resin availabilty. In the add-ons section, you'll find the previous Fatal Fantasy casualties, Fantasy Fighters and also some NEW Ye Alchemist sculpts. These miniatures are all METAL and have had the moulds tested. This is my 5th project so I am experienced in reward completion and delivery. Slain Mimic sculpted by Aaron Howdle The 23 core miniatures were originally designed and sculpted by Christian Af Bjärgö and Aaron Howdle. Measurements are in green, alongside the pictures below. Beholder - sculpted by Aaron Howdle. (Resin Only) Slain Mimic - sculpted by Aaron Howdle. (Resin Only) To pledge simply choose which reward you would like. If you would like any 'add ons', then add the extra value of the 'add ons' to the total. There are 5 main pledges available: I want it ALL! (Passed stretch goals mean backers now get an EXTRA 3 FREE BASES AND A FREE DWARF EXPLORER with this pledge) This pledge contains the Beholder and Mimic. 27 Miniatures for £65 There are a number of resin sets available for international backers to try to minimise shipping costs. The Metal/Resin pledge is a 550g small parcel for shipping purposes. The Resin only pledge is a 150g small parcel for shipping purposes. Available in resin (Outside UK) or resin/metal mix (Worldwide) I (nearly) want it all! Hello all! I am a very novice beginner to miniature painting, and have only been doing it for about a year or so. I feel like my skills are leveling up pretty quickly, but still need some advice. My friend is trying to coax me into pen and paper RPGs like DnD and pathfinder, and we are currently doing a pathfinder session. To add flavor to the games and because I like to feel like I'm participating, I'm working on terrain and buildings. The first building that I'm nearing completion on is Tabletop World's Mansion. Because of the large size of the model (and the hope that I'll be getting more pieces, creating a city that will look like it all came from the same forest/quarry/paint shoppe) I went to various Hardware stores and bought actual high quality building/house paint. I'm a little concerned this was a bad move, since I know model paint is specifically made for small scales. The colors for the mansion were ripped from the Winchester Mystery House photos because I love the design and colors. So the main question I have is regarding sealing. I've heard krylon matte spray can leave a sticky residue, and I want to avoid that. I was wondering what sealing spray I should use since I went with actual house paints. Because the parts where the house fits together are extremely snug, my desire is to paint on a gloss coat for the connecting parts, so when the mansion is put together/pulled apart the gloss coat will protect the paint better from rubbing off. Or will it stick together because of the gloss coat? Looking for advice on that. Finally, the wood flooring I would like to look a little more aged. I'm kind of worried about adding grey or white with dry brushing but will probably end up doing that. The wood color was a brown paint I had mixed up at the hardware store, so I figured I would brush some burnt umber over it and then go with some kind of gray and then white for the aged look. This is almost finished, I'm very much a "good enough" worker and hobbyist, and so long as it looks decent on the table I'll be happy. I could certainly obsess over the tiny details for the next 10 years, but I like my sanity. Looking for some advice on the sealing/aging wood though! Thank you for reading my post. Sorry about the length.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1662635043/halflings-gone-bad-volume-two/description Story The world of Alberon, as ancient and unknowable as its timeless depths are, has few certainties for those that live in it, but ruin and corruption awaits all but a blessed few. Halflings are, of course, no exception... The Western Wastelands beyond Midlam are a harsh unforgiving environment, that breeds a fierceness through necessity for survival alone. It is thought that the first halflings to enter the Wastelands, did so unwillingly, captured by Hobgoblin Raiders some several hundred years ago. It is reported that the Hogoblins thought that their small size would make them useful servants for all manner of tasks, but when the monstrous and unstoppable nature of their appetites became apparent, the halflings were stranded in the middle of the wasteland and left them to die. That they didn't is some testament to the hidden reserves and ingenuity of these small folk, but they have not survived unscathed. Their souls, often forsaken to unknowable gods, have changed as much as their bodies and minds. As a counterpoint to the Wasteland halflings, those that inhabit the town have found unusual niches, whether that be as criminal masterminds, pirates, anarchists, grave robbers and the somewhat cliched, but ever problematical, burglars. An Excerpt from 'The Robbit' by The Wizard R.R.R. Gudgrief Welcome to Halflings Gone Bad - Volume One! A collection of sixteen 28mm scale halflings from the wrong side of the elven forest tracks, for all of your fantasy miniature games. Welcome to our second Kickstarter to cover some of the more nefarious occupations and depths that halflings have stooped to. The worrying nature of the appearance of wasteland halflings, something seen as a threat to all halfling civilisation, combined with the new depths of depravity of halflings in Midlam has called for a new town council to be convened from amongst the artisans and workers of Halftown.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/russrmc/animal-adventures-tales-of-dungeons-and-doggies/description So you have seen the minis but what about the rules doc? Well, here is just one example of the art quality thanks to the incredible talents of April Prime! Amazingly, this is still work in progress, but she is working on art for every dog and a few bonus pieces as well....hmmm..maybe art prints should be available... Here's a small piece of Dungeons and Doggies fiction to enjoy! Every mini will have an associated 'icon character' pre generated in the rules pack, and for the Cleric role we have Cerysse, gentle but determined protector of her friends. Many thanks to Kate, our writer, for providing this and many other story pieces for the project! We will follow up with a rules preview for the Companion Domain soon!

This goes live today (i'll add a link when it does) (almost complete pre-production image, minor changes possible) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WkFwekye_zQ unboxing of the game (now if you want tiles for a dungeon crawl this looks a good deal) this is a reprint of the well regarded boardgame Caustrophobia (https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/36932/claustrophobia) and it's first expansion with all new art assets and minis (unpainted) Monolith has already manufactured the game so it will be limited to 10,000 copies *I;ve asked and there are spares to cope with loss/damage during delivery)and deliveries are scheduled for January so minimal risk so ideal is you want to KS but worry about getting stung (but on the other hand if you don't like KS as a shop probably not for you)

Liking the look of some of the minis. Wary of what the production minis will be like. I want more than boardgame quality.

Now, MOST of us have a clue where the monsters came from, at least in a rudimentary sense. Tolkien invented the orc as we know it, and the giant spider in fantasy; Robert E. Howard seemed to have a thing for giant snakes. We know that centaurs came from ancient Greece, dwarves and trolls from Scandinavian myth, goblins from Western Europe, dragons from more or less everywhere, and so on. No, don't correct me; I'm bein' general here, and approaching a point. I'm kinda curious, though: Where'd some of the weirdier critters come from? It is legend among the Gamers and the Geekosphere about the bulette, the owlbear, and the rust monster. The legend has it that Gary Gygax, or perhaps Dave Arneson, back when The Game was just getting off the ground, had difficulty finding miniatures to represent various dungeon denizens. Keep in mind that historical miniatures, at the time, were relatively easy to find, (Knights, Archers, Men At Arms, and characters in general) but fantasy gaming as we know it did not yet exist. No mythological monsters! So Gary or Dave, or whoever... cheated. And several inhabitants of the first edition (and later) Monster Manual had some rather peculiar origins. In the picture, at center front, you see what became the Bulette, whereas to the left, there's a Rust Monster and to the right, an Owlbear in brilliant yellow. In the seventies, you could get these critters in bags in the dime store or on a spinrack in the drugstore, anywhere that sold cheap toys from no-name manufacturers. They were usually marked as dinosaurs, but this particular mob resembles no known prehistoric creatures; the majority of them seem to be knockoffs of monsters from Japanese TV shows like Ultraman, Spectreman, and other ancestors of the Power Rangers. Gary himself spoke about using plastic dinos in lieu of dragons, and the AD&D Monster Manual has the majority of dinos known to pop culture as of 1975. So Gary noticed them at the dime store, bought a bag, and pitted them against his players. And these three creatures became the dreaded Rust Monster, Bulette, and Owlbear, as well as becoming obscure but treasured collectors items among the lords of geekdom. Which means that all the owlbear miniatures being made right now are all because of a cheap Taiwanese knockoff toy based on a man in a suit monster who appeared on a Japanese kidshow back in the sixties. Or seventies. Or whatever. It could be that this thread will be doomed to obscurity. I rather hope not. I'm hoping that others will add to it with critters that started out as obscure toys that later achieved a sort of immortality as modern gaming mythology. Do add to it. I'm still more'n a little curious.

The world's first hot-swappable gaming miniatures! A line of minis with interchangeable magnetic items to customize your loadout. About this project How you think about gaming miniatures is about to change Hand of Glory is a new type of gaming miniature with a very cool twist: each Hand of Glory figure and accessory is magnetized using tiny rare-earth magnets. This means for the first time, you will be able to change your character on the fly. This will literally change the game! Since everything in the Hand of Glory line is magnetized, your character can swap out weapons and items to use whatever your adventure calls for. Since all accessories work with all figures, you can easily customize your character’s loadout and pick up new items along your journey. You can level up your character, swap weapons with allies, and steal items from foes. Use Hand of Glory to tell your own story. This project is inspired by open-world RPG video games, such as Skyrim and The Witcher (which, of course are based on D&D and other classic tabletop RPGs!). In the video game world, we love collecting and trading weapons, customizing loadouts for specific battles, managing inventory, experimenting with powerful dual-wielded weapon combinations, and searching for unique items along the way. We're super excited to bring this open-world video game feel back to tabletop gaming! Modularity and magnetism Hand of Glory puts a new spin on traditional gaming miniatures. To achieve maximum modularity, Hand of Glory uses our proprietary rare-earth magnet system. First, Neodymium rare-earth magnets are installed into the figure’s arms. Then, magnetic steel plugs are installed into each accessory. This way, the polarity of the magnet does not matter, and the magnetism is just right: strong yet easy to swap while you play. High-detailed cast pewter All of our highly detailed characters and accessories are cast in the US from the finest lead-free pewter and are easily paintable. Since the figures and items are cast separately, we can create unique character poses and highly ornate accessories that are not always possible with traditional miniature castings. The separated items also allow for easier painting. There are 9 Heroes in this first collection, and 2 add-on figures. They are Heroic scale (32mm) and range in size from 25mm to 40mm. Each figure is made from pewter (unpainted) and includes a 25mm slotted base and rare-earth magnets to install into the arms. Each highly detailed pewter accessory universally fits on ALL of the figures. In our first line, we are offering 3 different weapon and item series, and a handful of add-on items. There are swords, axes, shields, warhammers, magical items, potions, crossbows, torches, and even a dragon familiar! We have over 100 unique items, and all of them can be used by ANY of the figures. The Basic Pledge includes Series 1 weapons & items (15 total accessories) The Advanced Pledge includes BOTH Series 1 and Series 2 weapons & items (45 total accessories) The Heroic and Legendary Pledges include ALL THREE Series (over 105 total accessories!) These accessories are included with all pledge tiers These accessories are included with the Advanced, Heroic, and Legnedary pledge tiers These accessories are included with the Heroic, and Legendary pledge tiers *Each figure includes a 25mm base and rare-earth magnets, and each accessory set includes magnetic steel plugs. Figures and accessories come unpainted and unassembled and require just a bit of superglue to install. Each shipment will include a tool to help with installation. We need your help to spread the word about Hand of Glory, and the more we raise, the more stuff you will get for your pledge! Help unlock all of the free extras and additional add-on options by sharing HoG on social media, your favorite gaming forum, Reddit, etc. Hand of Glory kits include everything you need to build your arsenal. Each pewter figure includes a plastic 25mm base, and rare-earth magnets to install into the arms. Each pewter accessory includes a steel plug to install into the hand (the direction of the magnet and steel plug does not matter during installation). Each shipment will also include a tool to help with installation. We worked very hard to ensure that the parts are accurate and very simple and fun to assemble. They require only a small amount of superglue (we recommend using superglue gel!). Hand of Glory is made to be universally modular, which means that ALL current and future weapons and items will work with ALL current and future figures, and that will ALWAYS be the case! If we’re successful, we have lots of additional figures, weapons, and items in mind for future expansions, and we’d love to explore creating a game that incorporates the unique swappability of the HoG figures. Let us know in the comments what you’d like to see for version 2!

So I took a commission to paint some minis for a tabletop game. I didn't even think to ask what material they were made from. I get them, and they're 3D printed. Have any of you primed and painted this stuff? It's fairly high quality for 3D printing, but there are extremely slight striations. I am hoping that primer will smooth it out, but now I'm concerned with how the primer will react to this material. I have already seen what happens to the GW plastic when someone else applied the spray primer too close, so I'm thinking the safest thing might be brush on. Any advice or help would be great.

I wasn't sure what the GM was going to run last night, so I just grabbed everything I painted last year. Sorry for the bad phone photos. In the scenario, 5 of us return from a weekend camping trip to find the base invaded. The pink rectangles represent helicopters. We cleared the table with hand weapons and judicious use of twerking. :D
