Once more we return to the hallowed halls of Miskatonic University, this time to the research laboratories, where keen and possibly unhinged minds push the boundaries of interdisciplinary knowledge! Helen Salinger here (dark hair, clipboard) is one of the keenest. Whether it's fauna mutated by exposure to colors out of space, or crystals growing at hypergeometrical angles, she's on the job. (Colleagues have been seen before under the Miskatonic tag, but I gave them a touch-up recently so these are Better Pictures.) Jessica in the long coat is from Brigade Games, while the tousled fellow with the tentacled horror is from Crooked Dice. The commanding lady in the pink skirt is from Black Cat. Bonus! The new student assistant at Miskatonic's Orne Library! Already Ms Dinklage (Hasslefree's "Louise") has proven to be adept at scholarship and library science, and not easily frightened (this latter being a VERY useful job skill at Ol' Misk). When asked about her tremendous sang-froid she was evasive, mentioning 'friends from [her] summer job' and 'travels in dark corners of the earth.' A return to the hallowed, mouldering halls of Miskatonic University, this time to check in on the professors of Marine Science and Oriental Studies! Here's 50046, Dr. Ervin Friedman. A classic mad scientist sculpt; love the dynamic "Eureka!/I'll show them, I'll show them ALL!" pose. Friedman looks like a chemist, but I had the tank from 77493, Brain-in-a-Jar and some little fish from a craft store lying around and made another fishtank. Click for more angles. I imagine he gets on well with his colleague Dr. Froschmeister. Next up, the Professor from NorthStar's "In Her Majesty's Name" line. An academic in the humanities, an eccentric genius with very good fashion sense. I will fix that smoking jacket one day, but it's tabletop ready for now. He's got a very expressive pose and I can just imagine him dilating on abstruse facets of the art traditions of forgotten empires and smell the pipe-tobacco and old leather.

I've had this one in the works for a while. She's a little more cheerful and Art Noveau than most of the rest of my Miskatonic staff, but that's okay! Misk.U. cultivates eccentrics of all types. She seems to be handling the job just fine. And those pointed ears indicate she's already survived a brush with chaos, or perhaps has a little bit of eldritch in her. Her colleagues are a Stonehaven halfling librarian and a Black Cat librarian/cultist. Gave them both a minor touch-up for this shoot.

A truly superb journalist sculpt from Cold War Miniatures, this is Earthling Gail (a retro Dale-from-Flash-Gordon homage). Crisp pulp-era fashion sense and a great air of determination. Guest-starring RatTrap's Bridget O'Rourke and Grenadier's Vile Villain (Caspar Gutman). Afflict the comfortable, comfort the afflicted, spell it RIGHT, and get a SOURCE! And the intrepid reporters and editor at the Arkham Advertiser:

From the Villains 3 pack from Crooked Dice: a mad scientist's mad scientist. Shock of hair, beady spectacles, manic grin, pet baby shoggoth. I'd long lamented the fact that none of my mad scientists were specifically mad zoologists, but NO LONGER. Again, kudos to @lexomatic and @paintybeard for the tips. Stolen and reverse-engineered Mi-Go technology has allowed remarkable breakthroughs in the field of Brainservants.

Miskatonic's most intrepid researchers go to the ends of the earth for their research projects--and some ends are more terminal than others! Here's Reaper's Antarctic Explorer, 80072. (Though I'm sure he could work as an Arctic explorer, too, in a pinch.) Bearded, bespectacled, and well-insulated, this guy is perfect for the Pabodie Expedition. The barrel of his rifle was unfixably bendy, so I replaced it with a portion of straight-pin. Used the same color scheme as my Zeppelin crew. I've said it before and I'll say it again: the Arctic ice holds Santa's Workshop and Captain America. The Antarctic ice holds shoggoths and the THING. Don't go digging in Antarctica. "The sun never sets in January this far south, but my chronometer indicated I had been hiking for eighteen hours. In all that time, I could see no man or beast, but the persistent cries of "Tekeli- li! Tekeli-li!" sounded bleatingly in my ears." "The monolith must have been in this valley for uncounted ages, exposed to sub-freezing temperatures since the advent of the glaciers, yet it was warm to the touch. No snow stayed on it." "Day 6 in frozen hell. The katabatic storms have reduced visibility to all but nil. Have concluded Man has no place in interior of this blasted continent, here at the bottom of the world." Special guest appearance by a repainted Schleich penguin and an Elder Thing from a Pathfinder random box.

Cobbled together some lab benches that would work just fine for Miskatonic. Also found a telescope bracelet charm that I built a tiny tripod for. In charge of the Astronomy department is one of Zombiesmith's Mad Scientists--though he looks like an incredibly, tediously sane scientist right now. Dr. Hu will find out in short order that no good comes of watching the skies in 1920's Arkham, though. And this is the lovely Professor Laura Pringle (50052), new hire in the Anatomy and Physiology department. Her patience with fools and frivolous students is even shorter than her skirt. Here she is lecturing on the cranial proportions of the Pithecanthropus and his relations. (Charlie the skeleton has a smaller dome than many Reaper skellies.)
