  1. Some little friends ........for dangerous adventures Cheers Eric
  2. Hi everyone, it is my great pleasure today to show you my 02712, Eyebeast. It was sculpted by Julie Guthrie and can also be found in the 10031, Dungeon Horrors Box Set. I added tthe eyestalks on each side of its head. The eyestalks are from Reaper Miniatures 03440, Creature Components II. I intend to add some drool dripping from its maw. It should also be part of a diorama of horrors I have in mind.
  3. Here is my 02737, Dung Monster. It was sculpted by Jason Wiebe and can also be found in the 10031, Dungeon Horrors Box Set. Since it's the second time I paint this model, I added four tentacles around its maw to make it look different. The tentacles are from 03334, Creature Components. Here is the LINK to the other one I painted in 2009.
  4. Basecoated this guy to figure out what color scheme i wanted to do. I rather like the olive and red
  5. While waiting for water effects to dry (more boring than paint) I finished up a couple minis that have been on the desk for a while. His one here is a favorite. Got all rainbow inspired when painting up a great worm. This was the first mini where I'd used the sand/gravel and glue mix to "sculpt" a base. Had lots of rocks to stick into it as it dried. After a dark primer and light drybrush, I liked the look of it so much I didn't want to paint over it for a few months. Well I finally brought it back to the painting desk about a month ago and have been hitting the rocks with various leftov
  6. The King's Man is a nemesis encounter from Monster. He'll show up and ruin your day at the ol' settlement. Mostly assembled (left off the scabbard and plume for now, experiment in painting a disassmbled model!), pinned and primed.
  7. Here is a conversion I did for a Migo warrior in my Call of Cthulhu game The body was a Reaper Warlord miniature: 14456: Mastema, Darkspawn Demon. The head was from Rebel miniatures, I think the figure was called a terror mite. The wings were something from a long time ago. buckyball
  8. Another lazy painting day with my wonderful husband produced this. I grabbed this guy out of the Vampire box not really knowing what to make of it. Even after boiling it didn't seem to stand well on any combination of the 6 legs, so I posed it on 3 of the rear legs that touched the base, kind of like it was rearing up in front. I wanted the legs to be black and beetle-like, with some blue green sheen, and I wanted the upper portion to reflect the "oxidation" part of the name. I just started dabbing paint on until it looked good. Since it has a little of every color in the spec
  9. ThesHunter had an idea for a challenge. http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/72805-80036-shipping-container-unofficial-painting-contest/ So I took these parts, and added some green stuff. https://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/container/sku-down/80036 https://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/tentacle/sku-down/77367 https://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/nightstick/sku-down/50191 https://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/natalia/sku-down/50149 I discussed this with some forumites. Got some great ideas and...
  10. As I've been creating my own set of Chibi Kingdom Death minis, I've found that some of the monsters have such bizarre proportions that there's no need to convert them into chibis. Overall, my approach is to have the minis become less distorted and cute as they get larger (the way that Final Fantsy, Pokemon and Super Dungeon Explore do things). So, a lot of the very large monsters don't need to be altered. Instead, I try to paint them in vibrant colors that really let them pop out. I also create the bases using chibi faces rather than the normal ones. So, here is my Sunstalke. I de-e
  11. The blending of green and yellow was challenging on this mini. I added some plastic tiles on the ground to create a ruined dungeon atmosphere. It was sculpted by Gene Van Horne.
  12. I needed another large monster for my Lost World Project. WIP and Stories here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/69308-lost-world-project-xherman1964-paints-coldblooded-creatures-and-conquistadores/ This time I painted the Ral Partha T-Rex. Based her on a resin Jungle base from Micro Art Studios, it has some nice touches like a conquistadore's skull, frogs and a lizard. I named her Trixy. Hope you like her:
  13. Greetings! I've had this Reaper Bones Hydra (77191) sitting around for quite a while now, waiting for me to pluck up the will & time to paint it. I'm quite a slow painter by nature & I had set myself a rule that where all my present & future Bones minis are concerned, I wasn't going to worry about removing mould lines (I love Bones but I find this particular job is a nightmare!) or going into too much painting detail but this all fell by the wayside in the end! Anyway, here it is. Following the Hydra's mythology, I've gone with aquatic colours, the base was created usi
  14. I created this monster from a mix of bones (eyebeast, mockingbeast, harpy, nightspectre, ape demon, bed,) hands from the kingdom death phoenix, sculpey, green stuff and plasticard. I have a WIP here. This was a great deal of fun to sculpt and involved a lot of scary background music to get me in the mood. As a kid, I had an overactive imagination, so I can completely empathize with the kid under the blankets. I even tried to fool the monster under my bed once by dropping a pillow off the back of the bed while I made a flying leap for the lightswitch by the door!
  15. Okay, here we go. I have this lovely Warpwolf Stalker, which I painted a while ago. I have, since I leveled up a bit, revisited the stalker. Here is the original picture: Here is the current front view (and other views) I'm really happy with the extension of what I have done with him, and I'm much happier with the figure as a whole. Any C&C is welcome, but I think I improved significantly from the initial painting to the reworking I've done on this one. C&C is welcome on this one.
  16. This weekend I finished up the Griffon figure from the Bones 1 Kickstarter. As some of you may know, I have been chronicling the painting of all the figures I received from the Bones 1 Kickstarter on my All Bones About It Blog. Well, completing the Griffon puts me on the threshold of the final ten figures of this endeavor. The Griffon being done, figure 256 of 266 figures, leaves just 10 figures left for me to paint. I was hoping I could get done by the time Bones 3 arrives, and with the delay in shipping it looks like a real possibility. For the full Griffon step-
  17. I've got my copy of Kingdom Death: Monster with me here at the con. If anyone is interested in trying it out, I'd be glad to run it over at the board game tables. ~v
  18. Greetings! I've just finished this Ral Partha oldie from my collection - ES54 Winged Panther. I went for a naturalistic black panther look but with a bluish sheen to the highlights (a bit like you sometimes see in movies as they're prowling through the jungle!). The wing skin recesses are actually a really dark red/brown but you can't exactly see it on these pics. Interestingly, the blue highlights seemed a lot bluer after I added the static grass to the base. Thanks for looking!
  19. Schmetterling WIP Two steps visible here. Original base coats of color with some shading and then working up with more highlights and finer details. I need to use a dedicated camera and lighting setup. Pretty sure my iphone camera has damage to the lens and the poor lighting is obscuring details. Sorry about that.
  20. Hey guys been away for a while painting the mighty Khanjira!! What a great model to add to my ever growing Dungeons and Dragons campaign! I decided to give Khanjira a ghostly haunting look! As always comments are wanted and appreciated! Just to note instead of doing boring stonework for the base I opted for trying out Jade! Let me know if you think it works!
  21. Finished the last model in my Tyranid army for now. All hail the King and Queen. :)
  22. The Mocking Beast from Reaper Bones. A really, really cool sculpt!
  23. I spotted this big dragon/dino thing on a blog page. Can anyone ID the maker or source? I would like to find one. The blogger said he found it at a garden store. Spoilered for huge 1600x1280 picture.
  24. I've been looking to do a WIP for a while now but couldn't quite think what to do. So, after going through my collection of oldies, I decided to give this a crack: This was an old set of D&D Dungeon Adventurers by Citadel Miniatures & contained 8 character class minis plus a treasure chest. I started painting these many, many, many years ago but didn't get very far & never quite finished, as this pic shows....... also, whilst rummaging through my oldies, I found the partner set: which contains these D&D Monsters: and they go together, so I
  25. I painted this around 9 months to a year ago and am just now getting up the courage to start posting some of my minis. This one I'm pretty proud of. My photography skills on the other hand could use some work.
