I recently got into miniature painting, and the Mousling Ranger & Yeoman was my first completed mini! 🙂 Because I didn't have a base in the size I needed, I sculpted the base using cardboard and milliput. I then added orchid bark, grass and flower tufts, and long grass flock. The biggest mistake that I made while painting these was not thinning out my paint enough. Or at all… 🙃 While I was able to get fairly thin layers without water or a medium, there were a few spots that had some awful texture. Lessons learned. And while I can see that there are some things that I definitely need to improve on, I don’t think it is really all that bad for my first mini.

Aftermath is a dungeon crawler board game that is the heir to both Mice and Mystics and Stuffed Fables. The game takes place in a post apocalyptic world where rodents have formed colonies to scrounge resources for survival, cobbling together the things they need. For the set, I went with a lot of textures and a lot of wear and tear. Nothing these mice have is brand new, and I really wanted to express that.

These were the final two of the Thanksgiving Challenge I was able to complete. The one on the left is a fairly accurate depiction of the Elder Mouse that wound up briefly possessing me on Halloween and his friend is the Priestess of Cheezit. (Which has gone from a favored food of mice, to a religion it seems) Debating on the nature of Cheezits vs Cheese Nips, consulting the Book of Ralph. Nips are found to be acceptable, and they go off to spread this to the other mice...

I have an idea or three ... but would like to hear others impression of the impressive Space Mouslings by Gene Van Horne ... who are they in your galaxy what are they like and what do they do ... we each have our own lil galaxy and no two are exactly alike ... so ... how do you see space mouslings in your galaxy ?

Hi folks! I hope everyone had a Happy Easter! Painted this Mousling on last night's Twitch livestream :) Worked on some freehand lace patterns and put a normal-sized penny (I swear!) next to this little guy for scale. He was so much fun to paint

When I got my Secret Sophie assignment and saw that I got @Corporea to paint for, I knew almost instantly what I wanted to paint for her. She put that she likes anything adorable and cute plus I know she likes mouslings so I knew I had to paint one for her. As I was going through my stash I found that had the Santa one and knew it was perfect. I also knew I wanted to pair it with a Christmas tree but it took me a while to settle on how I wanted to do the tree. Mainly I was flipping back and forth between making or buying one. I ended up making one out of greenstuff and am really happy with how it turned out.

I decided to paint a few mouslings as Christmas presents for people. For the most part I think they turned out decent. The Santa was a little rushed so he's a little less detailed than I would have liked. And yes, I did get the basing idea for Asiago Jones from a diorama at Reaper Con. It was also my first time playing around with basing. I'm having a hard time with putting on a second layer of basing materials, like the snow over the grass on the Santa. Maybe I didn't wait long enough between layers but trying to spread glue on the grass ended up just pulling up a bunch of the grass. So suggestions and thoughts are welcome. Some of you may have seen this one on Facebook as it was my entry in the last Reaper Bones quarterly contest. I love painting Mouslings and really wanted to enter the contest this time but at first wasn't sure how I could make my version stand out especially as you only enter one photo. Eventually, I decided not worry about it and try something I have wanted to attempt for awhile, a night time scene with OSL. I wanted a really light colored glow and really wanted to go with white but could not figure out how to do it without leaving the bee painted only white. So I ended up doing some light glazes of yellow and loved how it turned out. Its not perfect but I think it is a good start for my first attempt for this type of OSL.

I gave Mom the Mousling King for a first figure. Mom has good painting posture and steady hands right off the bat! She also was swiftly good at gauging paint consistency and quantity on the brush. Yay for a first figure!

This was my second diorama for ReaperCon 2017 and was the one picked for judging. The idea for it actually began at last year's ReaperCon and was originally going to be the wizard catching the barbarian mousling breaking in. Over the year it evolved into a large scene than originally planned and I swapped out the barbarian for the two thieves/rogues. It ended up getting a gold medal and Mousling Honorable Mention. While I own most of the mouslings, this is the first that I've gotten around to painting. It was a special request from the youngest daughter, and since I still owed her a painted mousling for her birthday, this went to the top of the list. I like his "I'm a ruler of the underworld, but I'm so darn cute" look. Comments and Critiques welcome.

Whew. I finished him. I have to say, this was a fun project. The idea came to me sometime last year, but it took awhile for me to get around to working on him. I've decided that monochrome relaxes me. It's just easier somehow to take color out of the picture and just work on shadows and highlights. I think I need to vary my levels a bit, but overall, I wanted it to read as a night scene, so I'm happy. I like the idea of an accent color. I've been wanting to try that for awhile now. Though looking at him, I could probably pop the osl on his face. the pumpkin in the back worked out better- most likely because it has larger opening for the eyes. I tried to find his sku number in the catalog and failed, but this was The Headless Mousling from 2014, sculpted by Gene Van Horne.I used a bones rat, a pillar from the graveyard set, and 2 pumpkins. Anyway, enjoy and Happy Halloween! I'm using my new Iphone and seem to have issues editing, so pics may be a bit funky...

This is my planned Mousling diorama for ReaperCon. The idea start forming at last year's con and evolved into this: two Mousling thieves getting caught robbing a Mousling wizard. The base is built and it and the Mouslings are primed. That is all that is done for now so lots of painting remains as well as adding in details. I am really excited for this one and everything that I have planned.

I dragged my boyfriend to the CMPA paint meeting. He chose a mousling archer as his first figure (effectively, he did a few as a kid). For a total newb, he did pretty darn well! He got the eyes with accuracy! He also wants to get C&C and whatever pointers you want to throw at him that myself and the CO painters missed. Bam!

Finished up all the bones 2 Mouslings. Can't wait for the Bones 3 space marine ones.

As part of this month's getting to know you thread a challenge was proposed, try a technique you've never done before. For me that was OSL. So I used the Mousling Druid to attempt this. For a first try I don't think it turned out too bad. The lighting in my room isn't great so I hope it reads okay.

Going to use this guy as my first attempt at OSL. This was inspired by Talespinner's challenge in the getting to know each other thread.

This was my second diorama that I did for ReaperCon 2016. I started toying with ideas after the Mousling Award was announced and originally pictured a few Mouslings in a cave, totally oblivious to the spider on the ceiling. This changed when I was sorting through some burl wood and came across the piece that I used. I used wolf spiders as my inspiration as they like to make their home in holes and so rather than a cave, I had the Mouslings hunting the spider in a field. It just came together perfectly and I had a blast painting them. I am so addicted to Mouslings now. "The Hunt" MSP Open Mousling Third Place

Okay... I have a couple of this adorable mini and figured I'd try to do it the way the artist envisioned it, instead of how it had to be cast... As it's only a minor conversion, and I'm not going to go into tedious detail, I didn't bother to make a thread in the conversion section. So, first off, chop it into pieces! Then chop it into more pieces, and drill holes through them! (Look closely and you can see a beading wire run through the parts) The LED I'm going to use, shown together with a part I'm not going to use, for size comparison. It's a bit bigger than the ones I've messed with before, but that is mostly because it's an RGB LED. (Red, Green, Blue.) Which also explains the 4 thin wires. Here the LED is in place in the scythe handle and placed in a mould of generic 'Blue Stuff'. (The mould was made before I started cutting. I just didn't take pictures of that. Check GreenStuff World's YT videos for how-to) Yes, the mould is two part... Expect to spend an evening if you intend to do the same. Also, for [insert deity]'s sake, pick a single-colour LED as fitting an RGB LED is a pain in the... (I used te RGB LED because I wanted Blue light, and I didn't have any Blue LEDs in my toybox) Finally! Time to start painting... Some Vallejo Gray primer on hands and face, Vallejo 70.614 'IDF Israeli Sand' primer on the handle. The blade(made of clear resin, 'jewelry resin') isn't primed yet... Now for the Black primer... Note that I've been careful to use only a very thin layer on the edge part of the blade. Priming done, it's time to begin slapping on paint... And the first was 09437 Dragon Black, That went on undiluted using a Rosemary&Co #0 filbert. Then I mixed up a concoction I call 'Stygian night', (one drop Dragon Black, 2 drops 09423 Styx Purple) and used as the first highlight. Second highlight is Styx Purple. And finally a dab of 09686 Gothic Crimson for good measure. I will probably need to go over some areas with Dragon Black again, and I also need to think a bit about the tears on the edge of the robe. The blade will get a thin metallic coat, and the handle will get the Vallejo Old Wood weathering.

Here is the mousling knight I entered at ReaperCon. I used him as an excuse to practice shaded metallics I learned from Michael Proctor at a previous ReaperCon. He earned a Bronze medal. Since this year's Con was postponed by 6 months, I kept putting off projects thinking I had plenty of time. Then, the school year started, and suddenly there was no time left. I already have several ideas for next year's competition. Now I just need to get started on them early. Time to step up my game and get Silver.

I bought some of the bones mouslings for my wife to paint. Well she never got around to it and I needed a druid/animal mage who was going to animate a treant in our game so I slapped some paint of this little guy. Now I'm really looking forward to the bee keeper one. I also have the rogue and assassin set too. I stole the shooting star robe idea from someone who was doing an eye painting tutorial on youtube. Mine comes no where near his though.

I'm getting the Space Mouslings from KS3 and was thinking of using them for a scifi skirmish miniatures game. To do that I need to generate stats for the figures to adapt them to the game. Is there any background material (art, stories, game materials) around for any of the mouslings to help flesh them out?

This is the second time I've done up the Easter Mousling, might have to get one every year and try something different with him. C&C welcomed.... Thanks for looking.
