Another batch of Undead, this time from Mantic's "Kings of War" line, though intended to hit the mean streets of Frostgrave (heck, they even market them as such in cross-promotions) The horde: The elites (Mummy Warriors, though great Barrow Dweller/Armored Skeleton types) The schlubs:
I painted these guys up in about 7 hours over the course of 3 days in the Google hang outs that some members have been doing. I actually find it kind of motivating, being able to hang out with people from the forums, AND paint at the same time. They're all bones figures, and I decided not to boil them; the various (minor) bends/leaning position/etc actually serve to differentiate them a little bit. I also used slightly different color combinations on them to further the effect. I was also able to accomplish the 'glowing, evil, pit of hellfire' effect on their eyes (although the green doesn't show up as well as I would have liked) that all undead have. Please let me know what you think. Group shot:
With my inability to leave well enough alone, of course the first batrep I post using this Historicals ruleset is between two mythological armies. I mean, why wouldn't it be? Rules: Hail Caesar, by Warlord Games. Armies: 600 pts of Mummies, based on the New Kingdom Egyptian published list. (Reaper Miniatures' Bones) 400ish pts of Amazons, based on the Later Hoplite published list. (Wargames Factory Amazons w/Reaper leaders) This was a really good game - we seriously had no idea which army was going to break first, and we spent a turn or so with both armies one unit away from routing. It was the Mummies' final break through the center that sealed the deal.
