  1. I did this for my friend's xmas gift this year. He's a big 80's kid, too. Battle report! The challenge here was trying to make them all individual more than just their head bands. I wanted to differ their greens a little between them. I also wanted them to look sewer-ridden and dirty, but still hold contrast. Came out pretty nice. Highs: *Donatello was easily my favorite that came out of this batch. His purple was a great mix and stood out. *Leo had a fun blue that was brighter than expected and gave me the idea to put their respective colors in more areas on them. *eyes were simple and effective. *use of washes and lining came out good. * muscles all have strong definition (no pun) Lows: *bandages look grungy as intended, but did get a little too bright in the edges. *absolute fail in trying to base with green on airbrush. I may need to resign myself to simply saying i suck with an airbrush. *shell colors needed a little more, but i couldn't figure out what's going wrong. *i wanted to push the greens. But needed more something to push the values. Yellow? White? What do you raise green with?
  2. I'm going to consider these done. I'll base another time, but paint wise.. done.
  3. Also available in METAL and RESIN. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/alphateamsurvivors/women-and-scifi-vol2?
  4. Artisan Guild Gryphkin Infiltrators printed on my Elegoo Mars. Torii gate and lamps from Zenith/Kensei. These are Tengu in my Asian themed project, Nippon, Land of the Rising Moon. WIP: https://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/79416-nippon-land-of-the-rising-moon-by-glitterwolf/page/15/#comments If you need to take care of a "difficult" target, bring out The Three! Two brothers and a sister, specialized in stealth attacks. Blade, bow or magic, whatever it takes, they will succeed!
  5. Seven "Ninjas of Iga" from Warlord Games. I'm playing in a DnD5 game which has some Jade Regent (Pathfinder Adventure Path) elements and last session we got jumped by some ninjas. During the whole fight I was secretly miffed that I didn't have any good minis to represent the opposition. Luckily for me, we lost so there will be a second chance to go against them. So to rectify the problem I went and got myself a few ninja minis. The closest thing I found was the "Ninjas of Iga" pack from Warlord Games. I'm not a superfan of the sculpts and I'm horribly lazy when it comes to cleaning a miniature of mold lines and the like before starting to paint. I started out wrong and ended up kind of rushing them into being tabletop ready. All and all I'm kinda happy with the result, except for the ninja on the far right. I messed up his arm when assembling him.
  6. Relatively quick tabletop job. I wanted him to be dark, but not completely black. Used a lot of Corporeal Shadow highlighted with blue.
  7. This is a group I have been working on for several months. Left to right: 77418: Xiao Liu, Female Monk, a repainted clix figure, a pair of 60152: Brotherhood of the Seal (Brotherhood? They have pretty large busts to be 'brothers"), 2534: Kiri, Female Ninja, another asian themed repainted clicky figure, and 2731: Yuri, Female Monk. I didn't want to use all black on them, so they are painted in dark purples and blues, with some brighter colors for accents. Also Xiao Liu and Yuri needed some clothing modification for modesty.
  8. Some martial artists I painted back in November when I was laid up after surgery. The one on the far right is from Bones3 and doesn't have a number yet. He looked like a shadowy assassin type.
  9. Another asian style mini for my friends campaign to the far east.
  10. I really need to figure out how to attach parts with little surface area better. Those wrists are so delicate and I am sure difficult to game with without breaking.
  11. It's been almost 10 years since I picked up a brush for the first time and to celebrate I repainted my very first sculpt/conversion. My NMM are getting better, but cloth continues to be my kryptonite. Also, I'm not sure how to get rid of the cross-eyed effect? Maybe the pupil is too tall? - Pat
  12. This is my work so far on Goemon from the Ninja All Stars line of Sodapop miniatures. He is mostly done, but will need basing and to be sealed.
  13. Been busy. Super Shredder, Human Bebop and Rocksteady, a Bruiser and some gunner thugs. Inspiration for 3 of my gunners: Captain Kirk, GTA 3 and GTA Vice City.
  14. This and another Bushido mini on deck for a friend. He had a bit of space on his cloak and I wanted to experiment with some simple freehand. For some reason I felt/saw wind when I looked at him and tried to paint something that represented that. Took me a long time to paint due to being in several pieces. Makes me appreciate minis that are all one piece even more. Had fun with a shot with the dragon hatchlings I just painted. :) I also got a fancy new camera for my birthday. A bit of a learning curve, but I like the new pics. Finally happy with the results.
  15. My biggest mistake with this WIP so far is failing to notice that there is a significant piece missing from her back. I don't have a spare, so I will have to sculpt something on and paint it up as well. I will need to post up updated pictures of this one and other active WIPs I have. Probably about 10 projects in progress on my painting bench.
  16. A quick followup to the earth oni I posted last night, to help dig into my Rokugan project. Ninjas are awesome, so I had to lead with them for the clans. They also make good generic bad guys since ninjas are pretty prominently featured in most fantasy RPG settings at this point. Because I have soooooo many minis to paint for this setting and I am just starting on this big project speed is the name of the game (well, that and having a 3yo and a 5yo makes anything that takes time impossible). I painted these in a few sittings, but it took much longer than it should have because the black paint was giving me trouble. So much black. Originally I had gone with a blue black but it just didn't look right (and too similar to colors from another clan). So, I completely repainted all of it using primarily the dark elf skin triad with vampiric skin for highlights giving it a more purple-grey hue. That recipe worked nicely for me and i'll be sure to tap it for future scorpion clan models. simple paint job, but that black really was tough to pull off. One of the nice things about the old clan war blisters is that most packs come with 4 unique sculpts of the same troop type for lots of variation, making them ideal for skirmish and RPG games where unique mooks are nice. I have a few more sets like this in the queue before I start on the personalities. many more to come!
  17. Did this one on a whim: I seem to be influenced by watching all those trashy movies and playing games where Ninjas all wear colourful accents to their clothing such as red sashes or neon blue ponchos! This swordsman is going to spark some shouts of FATALITY if and when he takes down an opponent in Frostgrave... 80032 Ninja Reaper Bones KS2 Bonesium PVC 30mm base
  18. This figure came with a few old circa. 1990 lead minis from the Random Box O' Goodwill project. It was signed "Ridolfi" and "90" on the bottom, but remained a mystery until I ran into Mr. Ridolfi himself: My martial arts friends tell me that fighting with two sais is silly, like fighting with two shields. Oh well. Original WIP here. I finished him on the Memorial Day Weekend Paint Binge.
  19. I just finished her yesterday morning. I love the action on this figure, like she's doing a form or otherwise in mid-swing. Loved painting her...! Now if I could just keep the sealant from bubbling :-/
  20. Painted this for a friend. I was really impressed with the model, hadn't painted any ninja/samurai characters ever and could not wait to start painting it. I really like the Sai weapons holstered to his legs. From a game I had never heard of called Bushido. -Hope you enjoy :)
  21. Hi all, the title sounds like the beginning of a bad joke, but I don't have a punchline for it... This diorama was inspired by an old model kit of a Citroën 11cv that I received as a kid and only recovered recently. I never built it and completely forgot about it until I cleaned my parents' attic while visiting them. I finally built it, and it dawned on me: The scale of the car (1/43) would fit well with some of Reaper's Chronoscope bones models! It would look awesome in a Diorama! So who would be a good model from my Bones collection to go along this old Citroën? A Nun of course! So Sister Maria (80028) it is! Now I had to explain why she had a gun in her hand... Well because of Zombie Apocalypse of course! So I added a pair of Mantic's zombies in the mix. Though, I didn't want her to be alone to face zombies. So I added the Bones Ninja (80032) in there because... well... Ninjas are like bacon: They make everything better. So there it is: The Nun and the Ninja were traveling on a countryside road when they saw a pair of Zs roaming in the field nearby. They stopped there and decided to clear them out. But since bullets are a precious commodity in these times, the Nun would be distracting them allowing her stealth partner to chop them off from the back. Some details: C&C welcome. And suggestions to name this piece are greatly encouraged. Thanks
  22. After a long slog of painting, I have finally finished up my unit of Suspect #7 from Relic Knights. I think she has the coolest story in the whole Relic Knights universe - apparently she teamed up with herself from several different alternate dimensions to do ninja-y mission; she has been confirmed dead six different times, thus the #7 part of the name. I decided to paint each of them in a different scheme, and ended up with purple, gray and red. The swords are all NMM, and while I got the blends done pretty well, I'm not sure I got the placement right. They are all just a straight gradient from Pure White to Blue Liner. I didn't think I'd ever seriously use Breast Cancer Awareness Pink, but it made a nice contrasting color to the purple. The white socks also have a bit of that color mixed in. These models were some of the worst I've dealt with from the Relic Knights line. The poses are a bit awkward and only have one connection point with the figure leaning way over; the detail is pretty bad; and there was a giant mold line running right through the side of their faces. The one with the Hannya mask is an awesome design, even if the execution is flawed. The unit is supposed to be pretty good in the game though, so I'm looking forward to trying them out.
