A good friend gave me this out-of-production Tomb King for my birthday last month; it is a fabulously detailed sculpt, with vulture motifs and fancy collars and greaves. My Google-fu is weak, so I don't know its exact designation beyond "Tomb King on foot," but you might know better! I decided to give him a monogrammed cartouche on his tattered robe; I had looked up Neferkasokar for a Call of Cthulhu game previously. I wasn't sure what to make of the tattered stitched-together sheets on his kilt and shield, so I decided they would be papyri with apotropaic ensorcellments and spells. And while I was on the subject, I gave a touch-up to some of the other mummies and ushabtis I'd previously painted.

The third mini from the Brigand trio (Gui, Bertrand, Hugo). He was a lot of fun to paint.

Another figure from the OOP Bretonnian army. I painted him up as an older Robin Hood.

This guy came from a large number of Bretonnian miniatures given to my husband for a Warhammer army. He never set up an army, but after many years of sitting ignored in boxes I've recently begun pulling some out and painting them to use as tabletop NPCs.

Ok so a little background, a friend of mine had this mini laying around for many years. He had inherited it from a friend many years ago and it had been primed, sort of. It was covered in a really nasty thick white paint that covered much of the detail. He asked me if I would paint it and I said sure. I tried all of the usual stuff to remove the paint with little success then resorted to oven cleaner which worked but I don't recommend it as the fumes are nasty. So here she is hope you like her.

Well, here's another started project. Ral Partha OOP White Dragon. You saw him before and after his dunking. Here he is rebuilt and ready for a bit more sanding, a bit more detail to the base and then priming. No great conversion or adjusting. Just a better assembly, slightly larger base (2 inches square now) and this time cleaned up a lot more. Enjoy and Stay Tuned.

Cleanliness is next to Dragon Godliness This ancient blue dragon sculpt from Tom Meier from way back at the beginnings of Ral Partha got cleaned up and is ready for a new life on my shelf. I rebuilt him onto a 2 inch square of Sculpey I did a test stamp on a while back. I removed the mold lines and such but have yet to Green Stuff the wing join. I also applied a bark parquet flooring of sorts. I sanded it down to get it sort of level and fill in some of the gaps with left over Green Stuff from gap filling and likely some Green Putty. I'll cover the somewhat awkward spacing around his integral base with some small amount of treasure coins, gems, etc. But so far, I like the flooring even if it isn't even and level. Makes it that much cooler looking I think. Enjoy and Stay Tuned!

I've had these for many, many years. I am pretty sure they are reaper minis, but I can not find any reference to these particular kobolds when I search. They are very small, here is a scale pic next to a genestealer:

Hi, I was browsing the figure finder and i found several sophies that I really want to paint. However they are out of production, After doing some digging, I noticed that they were given away as a promotion during the 12 days of reaper event last winter. My question is, is there a list of reaper events/promotions that i could look out for to acquire these rare minis? Thanks

So, I got this dragon a while back: The only thing I know about it is that it doesn't exist. Even my considerable Google-Fu couldn't turn it up anywhere. I picked it up on Noble Knight Games under the Enigma Miniatures header, and it was produced in the early 90s. I have recently contacted the current Enigma Miniatures to see if they are the same company that produced this mini. She's packaged as a Red Dragon, but with those ears and that nose horn, she more closely resembles a 1e/2e Blue Dragon; so that's where I'm going with her. I've got a bit more filling to do on her, the liquid greenstuff seems to have shrunk a bit since I did my initial gap filling. That's a 120mm base with a Reaper scenic resin Treasure Hoard vignette base and one of the Treasure Packs attached. Since she's a Blue, the sand (and non-treasure parts of the resin base) will be painted as, well, sand. I'm probably going to work on that part first, since the lgs will need curing time.

I painted this little guy up as an exchange figure for pcktlnt for the Secret Sophie 2014 exchange. I had a platypus, I knew pcktlnt loves platypuses (platypi? platypodes?), it seemed like a no-brainer. I wish I would have given myself time to do the potion bottle properly; I did watch/read a couple of tutorials on the subject, but the colored part kept creeping closer and closer to the top of the bottle as I tried to make the line straight, until eventually I just decided to make the whole bottle orange and be done with it. I'm quite happy with how the fur turned out, though, and it was actually a happy accident how it happened. I'd painted all of the fur, and then went back and double-checked it against my reference pictures...and found that I'd neglected to paint his front white. So, I decided to try lightly drybrushing a light color over the tops of the very well-sculpted fur, and discovered that it actually looked really cool. So I did it some more, and still liked it, and ended up heavily drybrushing all over his front, leaving the dark fur colors visible beneath. Huzzah for serendipitous discoveries! Here's a picture of the back view, where it is painfully obvious that I had no clue what I was doing with regards to the shading on his cloak. You can see on the right side that I put shadows on both sides of the fold in the cloth, because I wasn't 100% certain which direction I wanted the light to be coming from. I tried to use my desk lamp to help guide me where I should put highlighting and shadows, which helped for most of the figure, but not for this cloak. :P Overall, I'm very happy with how he turned out; I really worked on pushing the highlights on the cloak up higher than I usually do, and I think that really helped the cloak pop in front. :) Huzzah! --OneBoot :D EDIT: Modified a tag
