Sculpt by Bobby Jackson. This Halloween themed project was stolen borrowed from a comment made by @strawhat in the "Acquisitions" thread, Re: the shiny orange MSP sample. He suggested that the Halloween Knight would look good with shiny orange plate mail and a white pumpkin head. So that's what I did: Very pleased with how this piece turned out! The shiny is much shinier in person, but I think my favourite part, is the use of a white pumpkin. Definitely the right call! Paints I used for the majority of the work: Also made use of MSP Shadowed Stone for the shield, and MSP Pale Olive for cape highlights. As always, comments welcome! :)

Hello everyone. As I recently finished an orc squad, I’m now focusing on a goblin one. I’d like to share my progress with you. These will be used for tabletop gaming, in DnD campaigns I recently started DMing. They’re all reaper minis. On these pictures I had just removed the mold lines, glued the separate parts and put the priming on : - 03850: Armored Goblin Spearmen (2) (the smallest one) - 03462: Goblin Warriors (4) - 03777: Cave Goblin Archers (2) - 03838: Sakarat, Goblin Wizard There are a few other ones for which I didn’t take pictures at the beginning. I didn’t want to make them green, so I was going for a yellowish orange for their skin... But as I was wandering through all the paints at my local GW, I stumbled on that “Squig Orange” and decided that was the one. So now they’re almost red : And here are the others that I didn’t think about photographing at the beginning : - 2 copies of 07003: Dungeon Dwellers: Bloodbite Goblins (2) - 14095: Neek, Reven Sergeant These last two already got some spare paint from other minis painting.

These are two old lead goblins from the ancient boxed Grenadier set #5002, "Monsters". (That's what, 1980?) They are so crudely molded I couldn't figure out what they were at first. They had a ton of flash when I got them. The sculpts are hugely chunky and have some blobby areas. They also have some cute details, including a shield and scabbard held on with rope. The paint job is a little impressionistic. Okay, really impressionistic. The rust on the helmets is deliberate, at least. As they are classics I painted them in classic colors. Old style D&D goblins were orange, or tangerine, if you will, still far and away the best color for goblins. This was the original WIP thread, but I finished them rapidly during the Memorial Day Paint Binge weekend.

Decided to practice dark skin tones on Goldar, and to go with that skin tone choice I went with some African folk art inspired free hand. And I can say orange is a tough color to paint, I hated working on the orange on his skirt thing.

I said I'd introduce this fellow once I was done with my Burrowing Horror, but I need some advice on how to proceed. What can I do next to make this look more convincing and natural, whilst maintaining the vivid colors?

What is it with me and only finishing minis while under pressure? Painted up Khalib, Runelord Apprentice for a player in my FLGS Pathfinder group. He got started it then got distracted helping some new players make characters so I picked it up. I started about midnight (I'm usually in bed 10:30-11:00) and finished about 2am. We had already picked out the blue robes and purple book when we remembered that his god's colors are orange and black. So I made the center panel reflect that. I think the contrast works.....

This is one of several old Ral Partha (now Iron Wind Metals) Shadowrun sculpts I've painted recently. She is one of three cybertroll figures in the set 20-563, "Wolfram's Gang". I deliberately painted her up in some of the colors of 'eighties fashions. I painted other cyber-trolls at the same time: Reaper's 50287: Caine, Cyber-Troll, Ral Partha's Lord Torgo, another member of "Wolfram's Gang" who I painted up all tattooed, an Oni bouncer, a cyber-troll in reflective armor, and an ork woman street samurai. The WIP thread for all of them and several more is here.

So my WIP for this fell apart. I just slapped some paint on fairly quick and it was done in one session in which I forgot to take pictures. The bow and side of the quiver were difficult, as there was no detail to work with and I wasn't feeling particularly creative with it. The skin turned out quite a bit better than it photographs. I used a couple washes of Burning Orange:Midnight Blue over the base coat of Burning Orange. The first wash was more general and something like a 3:1, then a more targeted shadow glaze of 1:2. Then another layer of Burning Orange, followed by a highlight of Highlight Orange and lastly a highlight of Bright Skin.

Since my RPG theme mini is stuck in the Bones-created tear in the fabric of time and space in Denton, I decided to jump on the old orange goblin bandwagon. I knew I had this guy in ze drawer! So far using HD Burning Orange, Woodstain Brown, Regal Purple and Stormy Grey. He's going to be ORANGE (actually, it should tone down a bit with other layers, but who knows?)

So here's the second in my little series of orangey colored goblins. Did a front and a back on again just for fun, hope you all enjoy! As usual the NMM metal kicks my petard, but oh well, at this pace I might actually end up being decent at it in another fifteen to twenty years.

So I've finally finished my first orangey colored goblin, using orange brown 9201 as the base color. I've got two more in the wings waiting to finish, but those will I'm sure still take weeks and weeks. Took a back and front picture, and tried to keep colors in the spirit of the AD&D Monster Manual: "Goblins range from yellow through dull orange to brick red in skin color. Their eyes are reddish to lemon yellow. They dress in dark leather gear, and their garments tend towards dull, soiled-looking colors (brown drab, dirty greay, stained maroon)." The only thing I really didn't go for was that soiled look, but the colors seems to kind of fit. Anyway, more goblins to come later...
