  1. Hey everyone! Brand new to the hobby, been painting for a few weeks now and loving every minute of it (except for those stressful parts). I got the LTP Kit and think it was the perfect way to be introduced to mini painting. If there are any lurkers out there reading this and thinking about taking the plunge I highly recommend picking up the kit. Anyways, I still have a ways to go to match up with some of the amazing stuff I've been seeing here on the forums, but I'm really excited to keep painting and hone my skills. I took some photos of my first four minis and was really proud of them and wanted to show them off. I'm working towards painting my D&D party up. We play over video conference so they probably won't make any tables, but I thought it would be a fun thing to have on the desk. Hope you enjoy and as always C&C is very welcome. First one was the Skeleton Archer from the LTP Kit. He came out of the kit doing a bit of a Neo lean... I tried he hot water trick but it didn't stick, so I propped him up with putty. Big time learning experience, but I think he turned out okay. I had the most trouble with the quiver, but it ended up being my favorite part in the end: Next up was a Skeleton Warrior. The second time around I thought I got a smoother looking bone color. I had the idea to paint the blue stripe on the spear to tie him in with the archer. I think it worked: The third I painted was a mummy (undead theme anyone?). He was pretty monotone, so I tried to mix it up a little with some dried blood and creepy glowing blue eyes: Finally, I jumped to the LTP Kit and painted the Orc Marauder. I tried to ignore most of the color instructions and mix up my own colors to test myself a bit. I'm really proud of him! I'm beginning to realize that the details make the mini, so I added some small touches like rusted chainmail and fingernails. I was brave enough to paint the teeth, but chickened out a little on the eyes. I personally think the black eyes look better on this model anyways. I think if I googly-eyed him right at the end it would have crushed me: Thanks again for checking out my post and for all the inspiration and tips I found reading the forums. I'm sure you will hear from me again soon. Like I said... a little bit obsessed:) ~WhatsEcstacy
  2. Hello everyone, here's a project that I've been working on for over a year! I actually got Operation Icestorm, way back when it was released, and now it's done, including the CSU, which I had to hunt down since there was a preorder error that resulted in my order not being treated like a preorder by a distributor. Long story short, I didn't work on it for a while, then took my time getting it done! A special thank you by the way to SGHawkins, who helped me track the CSU mini down. I decided to go very naval military on the Pan-Oceania team, dark blue with a few key accents to match the original designs. For Nomads, seeing as they're just basically Australia 2.0 in space with hackers and punk rock, I went with bright orange, purple, white and fun hair. They've also got gloss on the guns, since I was trying to mimic the original IPod for their weapons, and it will help the two teams stand out since this is a starter box so I could teach the game as well. The Whole Box Nomads Pan-o Fusiliers Auguacles ORC Trooper and Mobile Brigada Akalis and Spektr Nisse and Grenzer Reverend Healer and Father Knight CSU Feel free to ask questions!
  3. Had a customer walk into my store and request a painted Orc for a Monster Campaign he and some friends were going to be running. I figured send this was going to be a "hero" monster played by a character the armor would be somewhat maintained so I painted it with a small amount of rust as apposed to a large amount like I would normally paint it. I figure a monster trying to rise to power wouldn't let his armor go to waste. I hadn't done one before but I think it turned out great. The skin has more depth then the picture shows the lighting kind of washes all that out. If you like what you see I got more on my FB page. I'll be posting more both here and FB in the future. ( facebook.com/TabletopGlory )
  4. I snipped this guy's spear and made it into crude poleaxe to lend some variety to the mooks. I wanted it to look crude.
  5. Refreshing to see some female orc warriors.
  6. Anyone else paint this one? I have one word for you. KEYS. So many keys. They almost broke me.
  7. I'm new to this hobby, spent too much money buying my first pack of minis ((got the Hordes Krielstone bearer and stone scribe 4 set) because I hadn't come across the Reaper Bones at that point) and this is my fifth miniature I've painted. I wanted to paint a half orc barbarian sort of character in case I wanted to try playing D&D on Roll20 or something (im a bit shy, so an in person kind of D&D thing is a bit of a stretch). Welp, here is my uh.. 3/4 orc barbarian :)
  8. GodOfCheese

    Kang Chop!

This Orc is ready to go on a chopping spree. He is all dressed up in his best armor with his new loincloth, and he's brought his Big Chopper! Disclaimer: new sealant was unexpectedly gloss, so I am stuck with glossy finish until replacement matte sealant arrives... :-/
  9. So, a bunch of us have decided that we're going to work on the same figure every month on the Google Hangouts. The first one (that spawned the idea) is the old Chainmail Orc Druid. In the future, most of the figures chosen will probably be Reaper. I used part of my day off yesterday to find, and get caught up with, everyone else that's doing this. I decided to go with the stereotypical orcs=green paint scheme. I had 2 excellent reasons for this: 1) The green paint already happened to be out and open, 2) There's this skirmish game called 'Mordheim' where you control a warband that's looting a ruined city. In this game, there is the option to play an orc and goblin warband. I already have half of a warband painted; this guy will be joining the gang once he's done. Of course, I'll use him for other stuff, too. This is what I got done yesterday: reprimed, and basecoat for the skin and teeth.
  10. So, For those of you not in the Know, some of the Google Hangout regulars decided that it would be a fun thing to pic the same mini, and all paint it over the course of the month... The idea was that we could bounce ideas off each other, as opinions, and discuss things about the mini, all in real time... We all thought that this guy, that Pezler mentioned, and that Dilvish, Chaoswolf and I knew we could get at a store on paint day, would be a fun simple, easy thing to do in between other serious projects.... He certainly ended up proving us wrong about that! But, he also showed us 'proof of concept' in that doing this kind of thing is very helpful, as we found so many things that made him a more complex sculpt than first appears... So here is mine, Finished last night.... WiP Here I noticed whilst taking the pics that I didn't re-trim the black edge of the base after adding in the Secret Weapon snow.... That will be fixed after posting this.... Thanks for looking! Next months Hangout mini of the month is Reaper's Goblin Shaman, Metal 02876, Bones 77349
  11. So considering the fact that I am the Instigator of this, it is only fitting that I post my work tonight.... (I almost forgot! Good thing the guys on the hangouts reminded me!) So he had the the mold line removed that runs up from his left foot, up his body and arm, across the wolf pelt's nosw, and the staff's skull, down the staff and his right hand fingers, and down the staff and it's accoutrements... Also on the inside of the wolf skin between his legs... The tab was cut off, and after drilling holes, pins were inserted in his legs. He was then primed with P3 White Primer from a rattle can with 3 light coats... and this is where he stands.... Not quite sure what I am going to do with him yet, I thought about doing the wolf skin in Technicolor, but I have already done that twice... I think that I am going to use the old Polly S Armor Dark Green for the mid tone on his skin though.... Maybe a Winter Wolf for the fur????? Hair will likely be the MSP Red Hair Triad.... And the item strapped to his back looks like a long twisted horn with feathers on it, Maybe a Rod / Staff / Wand / Fetish???? Thanks for looking! George Darn it! The mold line is still there on the skull on top of the staff!!!!!
  12. So last Paint day at the Citadel in Groton CT, I picked up the OOP Chainmail Mini Orc Druid, because folks on the hangouts were talking about him... 88713 Orc Druid So I spoke to Dilvish, Chaoswolf, & Pezler, (and David Brawley), and most of us have him, (David has an Orc Champion) and we decided to have a Hangout Group Paint of this guy, for the Month of February. Now Dilvish still needs to get one, and the Citadel still has a few extra.... So if you have this figure, or a Chainmail or other Orc Spell Caster, Join in and paint with us! This is not a contest, or any type of pressure event, it is just something for a bunch of folks to do and talk about while we are hanging out.... So Join in if you like... Watch if you like! George Current Hangout link: https://hangouts.goo...3ogteaq4nokgdae Edit: I plan on doing my own WiP Thread, and using my placeholder below to put 1 pic of the latest sessions work..... Edit #2 Should we pick one night a week for working specifically on this mini on the hangouts? If so, what night is best? (Obviously, this isn't any kind of mandatory thing, It would just be set up for everyone to be able to show off their work, as well as asking each other's opinions about things, as well as the "Does anyone know what that doohickey on his belt is????" type questions....) Edit #3 For those of you who don't have, or want to get the Chainmail figure, Reaper makes this guy: 02980: Quosk Ravensire, Half-Orc Druid ($4.99) James van Schaik
  13. So I decided to join in on the Hangout Figure of the month. For son reason my FLGS had 4 copies of this mini so I grabbed one. After two nights of short painting sessions, here is how he stands. Skin is the Dusky Skin Triad (only shadow and midtown applied as yet). The bone staff and skull have been associated with Dirty Bone.
  14. Orrrcs! I got two reaper army packs of these bad boys, and they look awesome. One pack, 06015, only had the two Sandra Garrity orcs and not the two Bob Olley ones. Their fantastic customer service has already sorted this out for me, so a Bones orc of the same type is standing in as a stunt double to show the other one that comes in the pack while his compatriots travel by mail. But these six funtime fellows are getting some paint, and I've been looking forward to this!
  15. So, I had presented some of my Arcadia Quest heroes a few months back (here). And some of you would remember the demise of the unfortunate Orc Captain... Now, the newly promoted Captain set off to rouse the Boyz while he devised a plan for attack. "Oi, getz up you lot, we has 'umans to kill!" shouted the newly appointed Orc Captain to the stinking darkness of the barracks.. The first one to stir was Bob, he opened an eye and replied sleepily "Wha!? .." It took some encouragement in the shape of broken teeth and smashed noses to stir all the boyz but they were up an about in no time.. "Now. .we killz! RHOOAA!!" they shouted their war cries and left the barracks in the most disorderly manner possible.. (... to be continued)
  16. I'm a novice painter and this is about the 20th mini I painted up. I'm about to DM and old-school dungeon crawling campaign using 3.5 rules and I'm in the process of painting up the necessary minis. So I started painting for strictly tabletop purposes but I'm enjoying it much more than expected. I've decided to give NMM a try and this is the outcome of the first attempt. I guess I should have blended the colors but it still looks decent when on the table. Any kind of feedback is welcome! :)
  17. Another old Mage Knight orc figure that I converted a while ago (WIP here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/60174-mage-knight-orcs-conversionrepaint/?hl=%2Bmage+%2Bknight+%2Borcs) and finally finished up painting during the paint binge last weekend. Nothing special, just a tabletop paint job; he'll get used along with his buddies in a Song of Blades and Heroes warband, as well as for D&D.
  18. Sorry for the 'batch' aspect, but... it is indeed a batch submission of some of the last pieces coming out of the production line for Septembre and October. I couldn't really decide which one to post so here you go :)
  19. Howdy, Been working on these beginning at ReaperCon... Because fiendgip is mashic! Thanks for looking, Kev!
  20. The Fallen Orc from Norsgard Miniatures! Bringing this to ReaperCon! C&C welcomed and appreciated!
  21. Getting this prepped and ready for ReaperCon!
  22. :poke:Don't let his posture fool you, he's actually quite deadly with a light saber.
  23. I don't know anything about the character but she looks like a junk yard dog type Orc from a more modern time. I added some gore chunks to the chainsaw. Hope you like it. ;)
  24. So I thought rationally and decided to use rosy flesh (what I usually use for human females) and mint green (which I would probably use for a female Orc) and mixed them together for her skin tone. I had no idea how to glue that shield on. Anyone who has this mini probably knows what I mean.
  25. This might be my favorite Reaper Orc. Look at those jowls!
