Looks like these guys are back, with a pretty huge collection of new options (all resin). The usual suspects (orcs, elves, goblins, adventurers), but a fair number of unique sculpts (these were the guys who had an entire set of orc villagers doing domestic tasks their first go round). Also some terrain pieces, and some models offered at 75mm scale for painters (mostly $36-38, which is pretty good for cast resin at that scale). Their first project delivered good quality models that matched pretty closely what the renders showed in terms of crispness and detail. I backed them then and am doing so again. Sounds like this time they are much further along in design and tooling as well. Looks like they’ve pared down the size of the groupings this time, with individual humanoid size figures coming in around $6-7 before any volume discounts, which seems pretty reasonable when compared with other high quality resin. Posting a few sample images below, but there’s a lot more. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/firstlegion/the-siege-of-amaldorus-lethy?ref=profile_created

This KS launched yesterday, and is already funded(with two stretch goals unlocked)! 😄 https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/galladoria/factions-of-galladoria Factions of Galladoria gives you a set of scenery pieces themed around four different factions: Humans, dwarves, elves, and orcs! They all have their own, unique takes on beds, tables, chairs, chests, and even siege engines! Ever wanted to make a dwarf specific tavern? Well, here are beds, tables, chairs, and more for that. How about an orc specific barracks? This KS has got you covered! I'm rather excited for this KS. The stuff is made in the US, so supply chain issues shouldn't be a problem. And there's a lot of cool stuff here at very good prices! At the lowest (unpainted) pledges, it's between $1.1 and $1.5 per mini in each accessory pack and $10 per siege engine, which is already decent prices in my personal opinion. But if you go for the "unpainted all in" pledge (8 accessory sets and 4 siege engines) of $120, it's only 75% of that, which averages out to about a dollar per mini in the accessories, and $7.50 per siege engine! 😄 $120 nets you the unpainted version of everything in the picture above, btw! Plus any non addon stretch goal stuff! But there are a bunch of other options as well! It all looks really good as well, and each accessorry set has both regular beds and bunk beds, which I find really cool! 😄 Oh, and it's possible to get everything hand painted as well! Current stretch goals map: Btw, this is Galladoria's new KS campaign after they cancelled the fortress one, which was just too big of a project. Also, I'm not affiliated with them, just very enthusiastic! xD

If not for Black Plague, Conan, Blood Rage, Dungeon Sage, Darkness and Light ... and maybe Bones III, I'd be interested: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1636851747/atlantis-miniatures-28mm-goblinsorcs-and-trolls/description

I previously backed the RBJ "Yippers and Squealers" KS (dog-faced kobolds, and pig-faced orcs) and the KS went fine. The Squealers will be offered in this KS as well. I'm only posting these pledges to show all the miniatures, and other pledges are available, including one with "everything". https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1620164718/grunts?ref=nav_search&result=project&term=grunt

A few years ago (hmmm…2015), Iron Wind Metals did a Kickstarter for a Chaos Wars revival. The first two armies featured were orcs and elves. I got most of my compact orcish army painted a while back, but was looking at a new set of rules last week (Fantastic Battles). I needed at least one more leader stand to use my Chaos Wars orcs, and I knew that I had a few orc leaders from that Kickstarter I hadn’t finished. Happily, I was even able to find them among my boxes of primed figures on sticks.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/medusaminiatures/3d-printable-elite-orcs-sculpted-by-medusa-minis-7-days Another 7 days KS by Medusa Minis. I have been quite happy with their previous campaigns. 9 pounds for the whole set or 25 if you missed the previous orc sets.

I'm a little late in posting these, but this year I made a concentrated effort to try to paint orcs and only orcs for October, both to participate in the loose ceremony of "Orctober" and because I really need to finally paint some Orcs for the table. I started out trying some contrast paint for the first time and I didn't really like how the skin tone came out on the first model so I started experimenting. I tried many combinations of basecoat colors, thinning the contrast paint, inks, highlighting and glazing, and different washes. Not all of these even look that different, but I enjoy the subtle variations going on in the theory that, like humans, not all orcs are going to look exactly the same. It was fun experimenting, and I'm looking forward to painting the rest of the Orc crew next year. Individual pics with the different skin tone recipes I tried below:

I had a little bit of time on Saturday to continue with my Prince August orcish warband (guess it’s an Orctober surprise), finishing some speedy work on three figures. All three of these are from Prince August mold #655. I had never successfully cast these figures before this summer, so I was interested to see that the face designs on the shields are just the sort of thing I freehand onto flat orc shields. That brings me up to nine, but I’m going to need three or four more to field a 300 point warband for A Song of Blades and Heroes. The real use of home cast figures is to provide bulk at low costs rather than individual skirmish game show pieces, and these guys are likely to be eventually subsumed into larger units. After priming I found a few places where I could have done a better job cleaning up mold lines and such. The fourth figure is a Prince August human barbarian from earlier in the summer, just to show the relative scale of the orcs against the humans.

It has been a while since I painted anything. A combination of my arms acting up again and my just not feeling it. Call it the recurring fallow season. So I am getting back on track with some Orcs. These are partly from the first Bones kickstarter and partly from the third. All together a nice band of 10. There are nine different orcs that are variants made on only two basic bodies, plus a singular warchief that I think fits in with the lot of them. I originally based them on 40mm round bases with sloped edges, the thinner-than-citadel knockoff ones. But there was always something not quite right about them, the bases were simply too large for the minis. So off they came. I ended up with making 37mm 3D-printed ones instead. I think they fit well on these minis. lots of pictures below

Hadn't seen this here yet: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1620164718/28mm-pig-faced-orcs?ref=user_menu You enter the cavern with water dripping down from overhead. The smell of rotten meat is thick in the air. From up ahead in the distance you hear the loud battle cry of your enemy SQUEEEEEEE! Painted by Ben Rodman Pig faced orcs. The most iconic encounter of any classic adventure. We have a nice variety of these little oinkers in the pen. We enlisted the help of Bobby Jackson to sculpt the porcs and Jason Wiebe for all the pork besties. They did an awesome job. Fortress Figures will be casting these beauties up in lead free white metal. Any support for our small family owned business is greatly appreciated. Painted by world renowned artist Rob Wheeler Painted by world renowned artist Rob Wheeler This project is for unpainted, white metal and/or resin figurines. Models are provided NOT painted. Models are scaled to 28mm toe to eye or 1:60. Models are provided with a plastic tab/slot base. Figurines are not toys and are intended only for adults. Models may require some assembly, may have sharp or pointed parts and are a choking hazard to anyone prone to put them in their mouth. I backed for the Ettin(ess) Bodyguard myself

So, a coworker and fellow painter gave me a bunch of unwanted Warhammer Underworlds Shadespire minis, so uh... Guess that's mostly what you guys will be seeing from me in the near future! As I'm just naturally inclined to orcs, and these guys look absolutely awesome, I painted Ironskull's Boyz first. Also, finally got my hands on some premade washes, so I ditched homemade watered down paints on these. Personally, I think it made 'em look pretty good! The number of ants that tried to photobomb this shot was ridiculous. The lighting on the individual shots was being weird, so sorry if some are darker and other lighter!

Hi all, my first post was answered by such warm and supportive folks I decided to have a crack at the ol' orc from Reaper mini training set #1. The left eye took me 6 tries (and twice that many curses.) Really enjoying this new hobby, first time I tried was back in 1983 and it was a disaster. Maybe patience does come with age. :) #separatedbutnotseparate

I have posted this elsewhere on the web, but thought that I would share here as it might help with motivating others. To start with a bit of background: 2019 saw a lot of changes in my life. After living away from my home for nearly a year for work, I was promoted and able to move back home. It took a while to unpack, and as we neared the finish line, my wife and I learned that we would become a family of 3 in March of 2020. Once again, the house was thrown into chaos as the house was rearranged. My new job kept me busy with travel, and I spent a lot of time on the road. This fall, I was finally able to undergo a much needed but often delayed surgery. During the recovery, we had new windows installed. This forced me to pack up my painting desk as it was located under a window. And It almost stayed packed up for good. Since I started painting, I have never had a year as unproductive as 2019. How many models did I complete? 6. Everything going on in my life made it difficult to find the time or energy. Painting is what I do to relax, and I have found it beneficial to my mental health. I feel so much better after spending time painting. The fact that I could not find the time to paint and had to pack up my set up for a 2nd time that year was frustrating, and I found myself rage quitting the hobby. I packed everything up and had no intention of painting for the foreseeable future. So what changed? While visiting over Christmas Break, my nephew asked if he could come over and paint with me. He is 13 years old, and for the most part, other family members have forced their interests on him. When he was 8, he took an interest in painting after seeing my work on several models. I have given him models from time to time and have tried to encourage his enthusiasm, but as he has gotten older, he no longer paints. But this year he wanted to, and we had a great time. And I decided that I need to get back into the habit of painting. My Nephew's work: So I have re-stablished my painting table. I found all of the projects that I started over the past year, but did not finish and packed away. The goal of this project is to re-establish my painting habits and complete the plethora of unfinished figures. I started last night by picking out two of the miniatures that I thought would be good starting pieces. Reaper Miniatures Hill Troll (02421) and Brother Hammond (44007). I started the Hill Troll while painting with my Nephew, and I like how it is turning out so far. The metal is close to done, and everything else is a rough base coat. I have just put a basecoat on Brother Hammond as I did not have time to do much more than that. It is not much, but it is a start, and that is all that matters.

I painted these guys up from Bones 3 over a year ago, but finally took pictures of them so that I could sell them on a certain auction site. Got $25 for them.

Painted these up over the weekend. They're a little shiny from the satin varnish, but I still love 'em. Had a blast painting them. Especially the skin, from Bones Dungeon Dwellers Monsters set.

Going a little ambitious here as I've never tried doing this many multiples at once. 3 different old school army sets from the 80s and 90s. From front to back we have Grenadier's Orcs of the Severed Hand, Grenadier's Ogres of the East, and some of Ral Partha's Gargantuan Orcz. The last group is not a complete set, but random picks I got from Iron Winds Metal. Though they're called gargantuan, they're not so much nowadays as can be seen when you compare them to a Bones orc. Also, as they're random picks, some of them don't have all their parts, like the one above on the left is suppose to have a shield. So big Bones over there made a sacrifice as I actually wasn't too keen on painting him anyway. And this next guy is a standard bearer, but I don't have the standard. So I put something together with a Reaper Weapons Pack piece and a GW skull.

I found these really easy to paint quickly using my usual method for orcs. I got a bit bored though of dark grey, brown grey, black metal, copper, dark red, dark brown, then a black wash. The two that stick out were painted with a traditional 'elven' palette. The idea is either that they have melted elven armour or captured an elven Smith as a slave or, that they are mercenaries in a 'good' army.

Hi, I plan on trying out warhammer in the future and I accidentally have enough orc minis to make a 50 renown skirmish warband. So, here they are: 6 savages, 7 archers, and a avatars of war orc shaman resin copy I plan on using as an wierdnob shaman (leader of the group) that needs to be based. I plan on putting some rocks, sand and grass on their bases, and then giving them a nice paintjob. I have never painted a "unit" or an army before, and I would be super thankful for any tips or suggestions that you might have for me before I even start, so please feel free to post them! :D This whole project might take and I will post all updates in this topic. Cheers and Waaaaagh!

Bit of a kitbash here. The chap with the spear is from Alternative Armies. The others are a mix of Warlord orc heads (previously Wargames Factory) with two frostgrave arms and bodies, one Oathmark goblin, and one Oathmark dwarf heavy infantryman. Have managed to get a really quick palette going for speed painting orcs. I prime them by brush with Vallejo dark grey primer, then use Scale 75 black metal for the armour, Vallejo hammered copper for decoration and metal details, dark red for cloth and dark brown for leather. The skin is Vallejo Model Colour Heavy Warm Grey. Then the whole model gets a black ink wash and I pick out teeth etc in light grey. These models took about 90 minutes altogether, ex drying time.

Enjoyed painting the single DD orc and brought two more. They are a bit bigger but very much in the same style. Applied the same colour scheme. Am looking out for the remaining two but think they may be limited edition.
