  1. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/medusaminiatures/3d-printable-elite-orcs-sculpted-by-medusa-minis-7-days Another 7 days KS by Medusa Minis. I have been quite happy with their previous campaigns. 9 pounds for the whole set or 25 if you missed the previous orc sets.
  2. I'm a little late in posting these, but this year I made a concentrated effort to try to paint orcs and only orcs for October, both to participate in the loose ceremony of "Orctober" and because I really need to finally paint some Orcs for the table. I started out trying some contrast paint for the first time and I didn't really like how the skin tone came out on the first model so I started experimenting. I tried many combinations of basecoat colors, thinning the contrast paint, inks, highlighting and glazing, and different washes. Not all of these even look that different, but I enjoy the su
  3. I had a little bit of time on Saturday to continue with my Prince August orcish warband (guess it’s an Orctober surprise), finishing some speedy work on three figures. All three of these are from Prince August mold #655. I had never successfully cast these figures before this summer, so I was interested to see that the face designs on the shields are just the sort of thing I freehand onto flat orc shields. That brings me up to nine, but I’m going to need three or four more to field a 300 point warband for A Song of Blades and Heroes. The real

  5. It has been a while since I painted anything. A combination of my arms acting up again and my just not feeling it. Call it the recurring fallow season. So I am getting back on track with some Orcs. These are partly from the first Bones kickstarter and partly from the third. All together a nice band of 10. There are nine different orcs that are variants made on only two basic bodies, plus a singular warchief that I think fits in with the lot of them. I originally based them on 40mm round bases with sloped edges, the thinner-than-citadel knockoff ones. But there was always someth
  6. So, a coworker and fellow painter gave me a bunch of unwanted Warhammer Underworlds Shadespire minis, so uh... Guess that's mostly what you guys will be seeing from me in the near future! As I'm just naturally inclined to orcs, and these guys look absolutely awesome, I painted Ironskull's Boyz first. Also, finally got my hands on some premade washes, so I ditched homemade watered down paints on these. Personally, I think it made 'em look pretty good! The number of ants that tried to photobomb this shot was ridiculous. The lighting on the individual
  7. Hadn't seen this here yet: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1620164718/28mm-pig-faced-orcs?ref=user_menu You enter the cavern with water dripping down from overhead. The smell of rotten meat is thick in the air. From up ahead in the distance you hear the loud battle cry of your enemy SQUEEEEEEE! Painted by Ben Rodman Pig faced orcs. The most iconic encounter of any classic adventure. We have a nice variety of these little oinkers in the pen. We enlisted the help of Bobby Jackson to sculpt the porcs and Jason Wiebe for all the pork besties. They did a
  8. Hi all, my first post was answered by such warm and supportive folks I decided to have a crack at the ol' orc from Reaper mini training set #1. The left eye took me 6 tries (and twice that many curses.) Really enjoying this new hobby, first time I tried was back in 1983 and it was a disaster. Maybe patience does come with age. :) #separatedbutnotseparate
  9. I have posted this elsewhere on the web, but thought that I would share here as it might help with motivating others. To start with a bit of background: 2019 saw a lot of changes in my life. After living away from my home for nearly a year for work, I was promoted and able to move back home. It took a while to unpack, and as we neared the finish line, my wife and I learned that we would become a family of 3 in March of 2020. Once again, the house was thrown into chaos as the house was rearranged. My new job kept me busy with travel, and I spent a lot of time on the road. This
  10. I painted these guys up from Bones 3 over a year ago, but finally took pictures of them so that I could sell them on a certain auction site. Got $25 for them.
  11. Painted these up over the weekend. They're a little shiny from the satin varnish, but I still love 'em. Had a blast painting them. Especially the skin, from Bones Dungeon Dwellers Monsters set.
  12. I found these really easy to paint quickly using my usual method for orcs. I got a bit bored though of dark grey, brown grey, black metal, copper, dark red, dark brown, then a black wash. The two that stick out were painted with a traditional 'elven' palette. The idea is either that they have melted elven armour or captured an elven Smith as a slave or, that they are mercenaries in a 'good' army.
  13. Another set from the "Lost Valley" expansion from Reaper Miniatures Bones 4, the Jadefire Tribe Orcs.
  14. Bit of a kitbash here. The chap with the spear is from Alternative Armies. The others are a mix of Warlord orc heads (previously Wargames Factory) with two frostgrave arms and bodies, one Oathmark goblin, and one Oathmark dwarf heavy infantryman. Have managed to get a really quick palette going for speed painting orcs. I prime them by brush with Vallejo dark grey primer, then use Scale 75 black metal for the armour, Vallejo hammered copper for decoration and metal details, dark red for cloth and dark brown for leather. The skin is Vallejo Model Colour Heavy Warm Grey. Then the who
  15. Going a little ambitious here as I've never tried doing this many multiples at once. 3 different old school army sets from the 80s and 90s. From front to back we have Grenadier's Orcs of the Severed Hand, Grenadier's Ogres of the East, and some of Ral Partha's Gargantuan Orcz. The last group is not a complete set, but random picks I got from Iron Winds Metal. Though they're called gargantuan, they're not so much nowadays as can be seen when you compare them to a Bones orc. Also, as they're random picks, some of them don't have all their parts, like t
  16. Enjoyed painting the single DD orc and brought two more. They are a bit bigger but very much in the same style. Applied the same colour scheme. Am looking out for the remaining two but think they may be limited edition.
  17. Hi, I plan on trying out warhammer in the future and I accidentally have enough orc minis to make a 50 renown skirmish warband. So, here they are: 6 savages, 7 archers, and a avatars of war orc shaman resin copy I plan on using as an wierdnob shaman (leader of the group) that needs to be based. I plan on putting some rocks, sand and grass on their bases, and then giving them a nice paintjob. I have never painted a "unit" or an army before, and I would be super thankful for any tips or suggestions that you might have for me before I even start, so please feel
  18. Here is the last model in the force to be painted before break starts: the boar chariot. I believe I will make my deadline!
  19. The last of the troops are on the board! I may hit my deadline yet.
  20. Here is the next part of the army. 9 of 18 orc warriors. Just the black primer and a little green so far.
  21. Gullivar (02942) and the Hellhound (03609) are both metal; acquired them at the Reaper Factory a couple of years ago. The hellhound, as with the Bones version, has a slight gangsta lean - down and to the left. I previously thought it was just the Bones version. These Bones orcs are the 8 green-skinned orcs to follow up on the purple-skinned (Dreadnaught) orcs I posted last month: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/82900-8-bones-orcs/&tab=comments#comment-1758789 Did a weapon swap for this version of Kavorgh (77064) using a Bones Bugbear mace
  22. Hey all, Here is the start of a small Orcs and Goblins force. These guys have been sitting around for a while, but since I forgot to pack my case of miniatures when I came back overseas, they are next up on the painting table... I hope they'll make a nice complement to my Ogre army, and be useful for RPGs and Warhammer Quest. So far they have gotten some brown, beige, and two shades of green.
  23. Back with orcs again ..actually the remaining 3 I had ( still some dwarfs and goblins waiting xD )
  24. Hi, not much time recently , but I managed to finish those 3 guys , orcs enforcer from massive darkness ( boss and 2 minions ). I have a couple more of that serie to paint as well :D..
