  1. HIIIII ...! So, someone opened a FLGS someplace where I don't have to fight my way through stupid to get to it, and they have space and interest in hosting painting days! YUS! All I need is some more interested people and some dates/times when they can come down and paint. My schedule is generally flexible. Weekends alternate (this is a 'free' weekend. Next, I expect to be gaming. And so on). South Hill Games is the intended gathering point. They have a Bookface presence, but their real website isn't up yet (.. and I'm not sure I am allowed to link it when it is). Go forth and Google. Once I have some tentative dates and interested parties, I will ping them via Bookface and see which can be best fit in. Who's in?
  2. After a rigorous stress test (i.e. pcktlnt and myself) I am happy to announce there is 24/7 voice (and text) chat server available for Reaper forumites. It utilizes the free open source software Mumble. Mumble combines a very light weight voice chat with text chat for free with no ads or other junk. It can be found here: http://mumble.sourceforge.net/ If you want to use the voice functions you'll need a mic. Tips Make sure your mic, headphones etc are plugged in and recognized by your computer before you start Mumble. You can set up nicknames for Chat channels so if your Reaper forum name is taken don't worry you can still make it display in the chat room. Once you start Mumble, run through the setup wizard. If all your hardware is installed properly it should adjust all your settings so you can be heard and hear. DO NOT USE the always on option for your mic. If you are not using headphones, plan on having background noise, or like to sing to yourself while you paint, use the "push to talk option. See ReaperBryan's post on why no singing here If you don't have a mic you can still listen and use the text chat. If you want to provide video I suggest using some sort of livestream service like Twitch.tv *MUMBLE SERVER SETTINGS* Label: Whatever you want it to be Address: 209.239.114.150 Port: 2262 Username: Whatever you want everyone to see in the directory Password: reaperforums It won't ask you for the password till you try to connect. The infographic is realtime so you can use it to check status.
  3. Sunday, March 29th Dragon Star Hobbies in Athens, Georgia. 1pm until 6 pm. SouthEastern Paint Club will be hosting a paint session. Come see the great works of Corporea, Adrift, The Melons Clan and DispatchDave! (all tentatively scheduled to attend) Eta: fixed the blooming month. Grerrr ETA on May 18, 2015 to change the title to keep from having to make a new thread for each meeting.
  4. I want to give a big shout-out to Mad Jack for sending me the tiniest hedgehog mini i have ever seen. For those of you who joined us at the last paint-day, you know that the little mini enticed a squeak out of me at its adorableness. I just think it's so sweet that he painted and sent me the finished hedgehog. Thank you so muck Mad Jack.
  5. So maxstyles suggested a 24 hour painting marathon over here. One of the suggestions was to have some kind of voice chat. Since Skype only allows 10 people on a video conference and and is a system resource hog, I offered my Mumble server for use and suggested livestreaming for anyone who wants to have video. Tomorrow I'll be setting up everything for a practice/stress test. I'll be posting more details here as I get things set up. I plan on having everything up at 12AM UTC Thats: 5pm PDT 6pm MDT 7pm CDT 8pm EDT 9pm ADT (Buglips Daylight Time) Mumble combines a very light weight voice chat with text chat for free with no ads or other junk. 6. Starting a paint club in Greenville, SC. Trying to meet the first Saturday of the month from noonish until 3 or 4 pm. Location: Boardwalk Games, 1175 Woods Crossing Road 864.297.6924 Start Time: 12 noon (setup begins around 11) Finish time: 6 pm We are trying to get a well known artist to help us jumpstart the paint club with some open group lessons as well as the possibility of semi-private instruction as well! Come join us for a bit of comraderie and paint slinging!
