Hi everyone, last night I completed this peasant with a hoe. I wanted to make him look old, so I painted his clothes to look worn and dirty. I also painted dark circles under his eyes, a sparse white mustache and a big wart on his jaw. Life in the field is tough. This is a Reaper Miniatures 02825, Townsfolk peasant with a hoe. It's a Dark Heaven Legends model that was sculpted by Bobby Jackson. He's also available in plastic version under sku: 77665. I painted him with Reaper MSP.

Hi everyone, I just completed this lady with a broom from the 02825, Townsfolk V set. She was sculpted by Bobby Jackson and is also available in Bones version under sku: 77088. It's a pretty simple model, so I decided to go with a little freehand. I painted her eyes as if she was looking downwards. I think the expression on her face makes her look like she's mad because the floor is dirty or something like that (maybe there's a rat in the kitchen).

Agriculture is the foundation of settled civilization, and as such a setting needs farmers, gardeners, people who know how to whack at the ground with sticks until food comes out. Here are some peasants--a Village Rioter (77140), making hay after the sun has finished shining, and his colleague, one of the Townsfolk I (77665) with hoe. It's heavy work, harvesting the bigger gourds, and they prefer the cool of the day for it. When the cart is fully laden, it can be harnessed to a hungry sow. The Pig and Cart sculpt is amazing and I love it. Look at those beady eyes! The jowls and wattles! Added a couple of extra prize vegetables from the craft store to top off the load, and removed the pig from its mud base, as it is quite capable of standing on its own and the cart wheels have no such base.

Painted this charming young fella to be used as an adventurer in different games :)

Mystery Peasant with Spiked Cudgel Started with leftover paint from the wizard. The base has been basecoated with the Mystery Sample Brown (which I am naming Hershey Kiss Dark Chocolate unofficially) that turned up in a box from those nice people in the Internet fulfillment department @Reaper. Colors I am thinking about using are splashed on the cardstock that is stuck to the paint stick. When I figure out which mini this guy actually is the title will get updated. He is really tall. The last of my MLK weekend binge. Mega Miniatures made some great set-dressing minis, including a donkey-drawn two-wheeled cart. I painted the cart and donkey long ago, but the driver and his pile of ph4t l3wtz is a separate piece which I never really needed. With my upcoming Eberron campaign, I plan to encourage the players to take henchmen and hirelings, so this cart-of-ill-gotten-gains is likely to make an appearance. For some reason, in the last campaign all the hired crew for the party's airship was named "Diego." So it's likely that even if I introduce him as Bill or Billy or Mack or Buddy, the players will start referring to him as Diego, too. I might as well get used to it. Anyway, I need to take photos of the cart, since I apparently never posted it here, but it's still in a box from the move. So for now, here's just the driver, sitting on his booty. C&C welcome.

Hi all! First post in quite a while I've been working on a fantasy dwarf I've been sculpting from scratch. I'm shooting for something which could feasibly be cast. I'd gotten to the point that I was positioning his weapon, at which point I realized that there seemed to be too many potential undercuts, particularly around the axe head. I looked at some of Reaper's dwarves which have a similar pose, and I noted that all of them are positioned such that the axe head is well in advance of the hand, which would eliminate the under cut. I tried various attempts at re positioning the arms, but in the end I decided that a new, longer axe was going to be in order. Now I'm in a quandary though. I originally was going to give him an axe based on a Petersen type L (see below), but while fiddling around with wire I came up with the idea of giving him a two handed flail instead. These were typically agricultural implements which were at times repurposed for war, and the dwarf's clothing right now could fit with the image of being more of a farmer. I'll be posting more WiP shots as I go, but I'd love to hear people's feedback? FYI, the lack of a mustache is deliberate, I was going for something similar to Balin's look in The Hobbit. Cheers!

I just love this mini! Her expression, her size and all her little details are just perfect. I hereby present Anna Bogna Pavlova from Hell Dorado (SKU HD7012). She was a joy to paint!

So, the story behind this character plays on the stereotype of elves as forest dwelling archers. This young gal's elven family decided to move into a town and are making their living as farmers. However, young Gwenevieve here takes great pride in her elven heritage and sneaks off when she's supposed to doing chores to practice with her grandfather's bow. I was going for a simple overalls sort of dress, baggy hand-me-down sleeves from the shirt underneath, and barefoot to convey the peasant status. I also gave her short hair as she was going for function over fashion (much to the chagrin of her poor mother). I'll start throwing paint at her sometime soon (when I sit down with my Halfling shield maiden most likely). I'm a bit disappointed by the quality of the photos, but it's my own fault since I haven't had my wife (the tech support) teach me how to use the digital camera she bought. I can't get it to focus on anything.

Here's an odd mini that I painted right after Nethyrmaul. Instead of cleaning up my wet pallet (like I ought to) I decided to just use the paints that were already on it. I pushed most of the colors together to create different kinds of neutral tones (it's kind of funny because the undead dragon was pretty bright). Anyway, here she is.
