Painted this month, finished in time for the New Year. Felt this guy had a lot of character. The pig had some casting issues, but I thought it came out ok.

I picked up this porker as part of a Kickstarter earlier this year. He's all metal and a heckin' chonk of a mini.

This is my contribution to the RCL trios category with @Evilhalfling and @Kuroneko. I decided on a Hampshire pig instead of spots. I love how much character the faces have.

The Hog Wild Crew from the game Malifaux by Wyrd Games. Warning: I don’t play Malifaux, but I do love these minis. Apologies in advance about any in-game mistakes I might make here. These are the entire contents of the boxed set called “Hog Wild”. HIPS plastic miniatures, many pretty small parts and a bit fiddly, especially the bonus gremlin (to the left) that was included in the box. Even so, lovely minis with a great sense of both personality and movement. The Hog is called “Old Major” but I have done him up as the tyrant Napoleon from the Animal Farm animated film (1954) which is a film everybody should watch (or read the book by George Orwell).“Old Major”, incidentially, is also the name of the old hog who starts off Animal Farm by holding an inspirational speech shortly before he dies, a speech that inspires the revolt on the farm and the rise to power of Napoleon. But I found this model to be much more Napoleonesque than the wise Old Major…as some animals are more equal than others. Ulix is the Leprechaun-like beardo with the top hat, and as far as I can tell, the leader of the crew. Penelope the hound helps keep the rest in line. I did this one similar to a dog a friend of mine had many years ago. The three little pigs huge boars. Excellent models with heaps of animation and personality! Imagine one of these barreling out of the undergrowth, charging straight at your little, unprotected hunting party… And the bonus bayou gremlin, and extra included in the box with a sticker on the outside.

For my first ever WIP I thought I'd go for something simple. Reaper's animal companion pack of goat, pig, and cow. Got these half price at my FLGS a little while back. They must have sat in their package a long while before I rescued them. The cow's tail seems especially fragile and the goat' integrated base was quite warped. i decided to base the cow on a large 2" base but the pig and goat would not fit nicely on a 1" base so I used two bones integrated bases that I had removed the figures from a while ago. Here they are primed and glued to their bases: Next I had to fill the gaps in their bases a bit so I mixed some tacky glue, brown craft paint, and a dash from my jar of leftover mixed sand and flock. This got spread around to simulate mud/dirt. It was a thinner mixture than I've used before so I'm worried it won't stay as it dries. I still managed to put a base coat of Elf Flesh on the pig as well as a mix of the same elf flesh with my brown craft paint to get the cow started. Here is where they stand so far tonight. (Sorry for the poor picture but I was not about to move these while so wet to my photo area!) Part of the point of this WIP is to showcase my mistakes and corrections so that others can learn from them, but please feel free to give critiques and suggestions as well, for I have much to learn. Now to search out some inspiration pictures (was I supposed to do that first?)

And now we have the second round of Fightin' Fungi complete, just in time for Ganesha's new Kickstater. Don't they take a handsome group photo together? Nice to see mushrooms of all flavors together.

...bet you weren't expecting that, were you? I was in a game store yesterday, and since I believe in supporting little brick and mortar stores, I had to buy SOMETHING. So I picked up some Bones. I did not need these Bones. I already had these and more from the Kickstarter. Still, like I said, if you want a local game shop, you should support it. So... what was I going to do with these extra troopers that I had no use for? Well, that's what art is all about. The B.A.C.O.N. trooper did not come out as well as I would have liked; the toy pig I used for parts was less detailed than the toy buffalo. Still, I persevere...
