Limbo Division 70mm Bunny No. 1 set
Mckenna35 posted a topic in Show Off: PaintingPainting this set as a Christmas present for a Niece and running out of time to finish the final bunny, so I'm going to send her this, and send the rest after it's finished. Don't know if I'll be able to get them to send good pictures of the whole ensemble, so I wanted to show off what I have gotten done. Really fun figures to paint. The cleanest resin castings I've worked on to date. A tiny amount of filing on some of the plugs to get them to socket together properly, but otherwise no flash and no seam lines. Had a good time coming up with a "grass" camo pattern for this guy. Anyway, hopefully she likes it and some of y'all will find it amusing. Here's the card that came with the set, showing the original art of the whole ensemble:

R2ED posted a topic in Works in Progress: PaintingFinally the weekend! What a wait it felt like to get here. With it being the Easter weekend, I figured it'd be fitting to do some bunnies. I had hoped to make these for a family member and ship them out, but that didn't pan out. However, getting them painted is still better than not. BATTLE REPORT! Wins: * The butterscotch coloring I saw on some rabbits on Whidbey Island, I couldn't help but use as inspiration. Matching them to how they came out, I'd say was better than I expected. * Using very, very simple colors and just pushing the colors up with mixing them worked great! * Making the details come out more by using very faint streaks of diluted paint worked great to give the impression of individual hairs sticking through. I think this will be used in other models I do as well. * Eyes have a nice pop to them, but was thinking some more color would be good. Misses: * I was thinking of putting some wash in there to bring forward the creases, but I didn't want to lose that fun color. Any suggestions? * The eyes have a strangeness to them by highlighting the eye lids. Would you all suggest doing dark instead of light around the eyes? * Speaking of eyes I wasn't sure if putting a spot of white in there was good or not, so I held off. Pretty happy with how this little bunny came out.
And friend and I split a pledge from the recent Killer Rabbits Kickstarter from Skull and Crown, which launched a range of rabbit miniatures based on the margin art of medieval manuscripts. It arrived earlier this month, and I've been working on them the last two weeks to get them cleared off the painting desk before Bones 4 arrives. Here are the results. Done to a tabletop quality.

ratsmitglied posted a topic in Off-Topic RampancySo I received my Bones II pledge Monday last week, and as I was sorting through them my 2-year-old daughter saw them, and said 'I want to play with the dragons' - probably something to do with my letting her play with the dragons I picked up in Bones I as she's decided that all plastic figures in bonesium are dragons. Based on her interest, I decided to dump all the Bones figures I have into a 10 litre tub and give them to her to play with in her playpen (pulling out those that I have a specific use for). This has lead to her learning a few new words, like elemental, giant, ogre and chimera...but the most interesting things have been what she has decided that some things are. The cutest of which is what she's decided that the eyebeast (77043) is According to her, these are now to be known as "rabbits" As I know there are a few parents here I thought I'd share this and see if anyone else has interesting stories about what their children have said when young...
