Hello Reaper brethren, So some more Shadowrun tonight, a Female Rigger with Pistol, sculpted by Jim Johnson, that enigmatic sculptor of yore. I ended up really liking this figure, just general fun, and when I saw her shirt and coat, it reminded me a little bit of a Russian sailor, so tried some stripes on the t-shirt and some kind of dark blue peacoat. I was really struggling to figure out what color I wanted her boots to be and almost made them bright yellow, but then calmed down and went for a redstone shadow base color. I of course see all my imperfections and dots of dust but it seems that for the most part, once I've gotten to that part of taking pictures, unless I see something really gawdawful, I'm just not going to do any repainting or touching up. So here she is in all her lilac haired glory: I took a lot of different angles because she's one of those not so flat figures, where just a front and back seem to be enough. As always, metals are torture, but if you don't keep trying to paint something you'll never get better, so just paint and paint again. So, enjoy!

Good evening all you Reaper hooligans! So another figure finished, this time a Ral Partha Shadowrun Female Detective, sculpted by Dave Summers, probably latter eighties to early nineties. Kind of difficult with the eyes because they were small little balls, but otherwise, pretty okay with how she turned out. Gun a little too blue, but probably won't ever fix that I'm guessing. I kind of like this figure because she's from their Shadowrun line, but she could easily be any normal, modern detective gal. I tried to do very a mild colored blouse, pinkish, with a grey skirt and jacket. This is also the first time I've worked on pantyhose, so let me know what you guys think. It was after painting her legs as normal skin color, I did some washes of first storm grey, then Dark elf skin shadow, and then finally black. Anyhow, let me know what y ou think about the pantyhose and hope you enjoy!

Good morning Reapermaniacs, So here's one I've had painted for about a week or so but have never just gotten around to sit down at my normal computer to post him. This one is one I've actually had for a long time, and it's an old lead version back from the seventies. I had to at one point I think scrape off some paint. I had another newer version of him, but the detail was pretty soft so ended up painting up the original, whose details were so much more nice and crisp. And being he was a "high" elf, I wanted him to have some nice light colors, no greens and browns. Anyhoos, here he is: I've been on a recent kick painting these older miniatures, even old by Partha standards (pre-eighties). I think I'm going to keep painting them, putting them into my normal mix of newer, old Partha figures. In any case, hope you like them!

Hello again Reaperlings! So here is the other figure I finished this morning from their Shadowrun Range, a Jim Johnson Female Bounty Hunter with Machine Gun. With this gal, hard to decide on colors. Do I go strictly drab and military greens and browns or do I add some color into it? I opted for color: I'm hoping/guessing that she's got some kind of radio/cell phone/walkie talkie in her other hand, but hard to know for sure. I think Shadowrun probably had a bunch of different technologies, not at all familiar with the game, but really do like the figures. Once again, enjoy, hope you like!

Hello fine fans and lovers of the Reaper Miniature World! So today I've got two figures to post. I'd do them together, but different sculptors and different genres. The first one is an old Julie Guthrie figure from the eighties, Woman Warrior With Two Swords. I think she came in a box from the range "the Adventurers", which was full of female player characters. So here she is: In one of Anne's podcasts, she was doing non-metal metal and I'd asked her about her base colors and she suggested more grey as opposed to a blue beginning, so with this figure and her metals, I started out with Rainy Grey instead of Ashen Blue which is what I normally use. I think she came out pretty decently, even though of course I'm never satisfied with my own work. Such is the curse of the painter.... Anyhoos, hope you enjoy her, a very fun and basic figure. One of the reason I like old school minis as I've mentioned before. She strapped on her armor, grabbed her blades and took off. No ladening herself with bags, sacks and knick knacks.

Morning everybody! So just finished this one up and got photos edited. I've had this figure for a while now, just finally getting time to paint it, he's Ral Partha, Wizard from Ral Partha's Personalities and Things that Go Bump in the Night series. One of the first miniatures of that series, and this might be the second version. There was another version with a shorter hanging cloak, and then one was done many years later, where you are able to easily see Tom Meier's progress over the years. This was sculpted in the seventies, in the infancy of Ral Partha. It's a fun miniature and this is just a huge and heavy chunk of lead. and then kind of little close up of his tomes: and this figure oddly enough at one point came in a gold plated version as some sort of prize. No idea why I have it, I think it came from when my brother was working at Star Realm, our local game shop. Sadly, as I was bringing him upstairs to photograph, he did a nose dive onto my basement, concrete floor and got a piece of his gold plating knocked off around his hat: Beyond that he has certainly seen better days with rust/mold or whatever happens to gold plating after 40 years or so. Hi guys, Been working off and on on a few different miniatures but just got a few finished last night. This one I was able to actually photograph today. I had another that I took pictures of, but when I looked at the pictures, it had a piece of grass sitting on it that I just couldn't accept so I'll take pictures again tomorrow of that figure. So anyhoos, here is a Ral Partha Brigand with Sword, the third part of a blister from Partha's Encounters of the Imagination Series: and here's a picture of the group together: The set also came with some loot, some bags and a little treasure pile, but I haven't painted those yet. Don't know if I will or not. Anyways, hope you all enjoy and are also enjoying the glory that is Reapercon!

This is a repaint of a mini I first painted in the 80s. If I recall the bottom says 1983 Ral Partha. I do not know the figure ID or sculpter, but the folds on her cloak were gorgeous - they pained themselves. I did the repaint as I have a character who is a teenager - and could not find an appropriate modern mini. I've never repainted something from my youth, I am generally to nostalgic. The before is the pale skinned one.

In the thread "Metal Minis We Would Like to See" I posted about getting a triple figure pack for all possible uses with your adventurer. Figured I'd post an image of one I used back in the late 70s when I played Chivalry & Sorcery. The mounted and foot figures are Ral Partha and the dead one (luckily never had to use him) was an Orc casualty figure (manufacturer unknown) modified by using an extra RP knight. And yes, I do know how to spell complete; I'm referencing one of my favorite books, The Compleat Enchanter by L. Spague deCamp and Fletcher Pratt. Check it out for a very fun read!

Hi all you Reaperly fellows and fellowettes! So this time I just finished painting a little dragon, Ral Partha-sized dragon, sculpted by Dennis Mize. As always, I had tons of problems figuring out a color, so I did a red underpart, and then above, I used for the most part the Dark Elf Skin Triad to paint the rest. I took a bunch of photos because with the wings extended like they are, it was hard to get things in focus, so sorry if I put in too many photos, but want to give a good idea of the mini. He's a pretty big mini in the Ral Partha sense, but pretty small in the overall sense of dragon-ness, I know that Reaper has tons of larger dragons out there. I like this guy because he is long and sinuous. I had to bend his wings up a little so they wouldn't go straight out. I didn't check the year he was sculpted but I'm guessing latter seventies or early eighties. Anyhoos, hopefully you enjoy!

I've been rummaging through my mini hoard and found all kinds ancient treasures, boxed sets with the original inserts! My stupid question is this, is anyone interested in photos of the boxed sets for identification purposes? The collection goes back to the early 80's and is from a plethora of companies. If members are interested in miniature identification, then should there be a dedicated thread where members can post pics of their boxed sets and still carded minis? Or is there already a thread for mini identification?

Another deep dive into the abyss... This infernal figure was torture to pin and glue, and the storage of it is devilishly tricky because of the super bendy spear. I really wish that minis produced with pole arms / spears would use a bit of stiff wire overmolded with the pole arm / spear casting. I have had to adjust this spear so many times. I must have done something really evil in my last life...

I ain't even gonna try to feed this beastie lemongrass... Known for its deathgaze and horrific flatulence, it was universally feared by adventurers. But, if some brave adventurers would gather milk, the local creameries would produce Death cheese. I was surfing through some posts and saw the catoplebas mentioned, so I thought that someone might enjoy seeing one.

After completing my Reaper training kits, I'm ready to start tackling my old 80s lead minis from my youth. I tried painting a couple when I was twelve years old and failed so miserably I literally thought there was no way I would ever be able to even attempt this hobby and it was just better left to others with more talent. Thanks Reaper for making the awesome training sets and helping me try again after over 35 years. So without further ado I begin digging into my vault from the 80s. Apologies if this forum is for Reaper products only, no insult intended. So I think this baddie might be a Ral Partha Hill Troll, but not sure. Anybody have some insight?

Continuing to dig up my childhood minis... This crazy old dragon was done back in 1984, I basically dunked him in turquoise enamel. While not sophisticated, the color was beautiful and it's one of my all time favorite sculpts so I left it intact and decided to try adding some details. Results below!

Hi one and all under the joyous Reaper spell! So I'm not sure who the sculptor is on this one but she's one of a set of three figures with I think some loot bags. The other two guys are some brigands that I imagine turned her in to this female captive instead of just being the run of the mill female. She's kind of kneeling in a pile of random bones and stones. Fun little figure to paint, hope you guys enjoy:

And another Shadowrun figure, the third figure from what was originally a three piece set of Elven subtypes. This dapper gentleman is a Wakyambi, which from what I read on line (haven't ever actually ever played Shadowrun or own any of the gaming books), he's an African Elf Subtype, tall and thin. He was fun to paint, but his dingly dangly stuff eventually just made me cry for mercy in the hopes I would someday finish. His necklace and his little staff had quite a bit of details to it, as well has his funky monkey belt buckle. and here is the set in its entirety, not completely great focus, but it's hard to get three figures to focus nicely: So three more finished, I wonder how many more I can get done before I go to the great beyond? Hopefully 50 or more per year for another thirty to forty years, but we'll see....

So here is my latest little group of miniatures, some vintage Ral Partha Elven Personalities from the Personalities and Things that go Bump in the Night line, sculpted by Tom Meier. These are pretty small figures, back when 25 mm meant that size. So they came out okay. What I actually like the best is the female's color of her dress, which is actually the Master Series Paint Bright Skin Shadow. I think it turned out kind of an enjoyable peach color. Biggest pain in the posterior was the buttons on the chick's "girdle/belt/thingamajig. I wanted to do them as jewels but they were so small, just made them metal buttons. Anyhow, enjoy!

Hello all you Reapernauts! So just finished these two up, keep working on Shadowrun stuff for a bit of variety. These two are either Deckers as per their original packaging, or Young Deckers when you look at the Iron Wind Metals page nowadays. Either way, some pretty fun figures to paint, a guy and a gal. After taking photos, as per usual, I found a few glaring errors, but I'm not sure if I want to go back in to repaint some parts and rephotograph. Out of everything, I'm just pretty happy on how the little rat came out. So anyhoos, here they are, enjoy! and of course I always giggle that the eighties imagination never conceived small little phones you could do virtually anything you ever needed with, but rather had their guys carrying around big, long laptop/keyboards to get their tekkie stuff done. I wonder if newer editions of Shadowrun (assuming they exist) compensated for this in the future. Hmmmm...

Hi Gang, dug up these two tough guys from my box of childhood minis. One was my attempt as an eleven year old using Testors model paints, got so frustrated I didn't paint again for thirty-five years. Feeling inspired after tackling my Reaper starter kits and recent Battle Troll. Got isopropyl at the drug store. Let's see how it goes... :)

Hello to all you bovine aficionados! So a while back ago I did a normal minotaur, Greek-type mythological beast with an axe on two legs. This one is a little different, it's a Shadowrun Minotaur which has a bull's body and a "primate" face. I think Jim Johnson sculpted it back in the nineties, as usual forgot to check for a date on the bottom. Pretty straight forwards colors, and it's actually kind of a big and heavy model. Put him on an oval base because there was no way he was going to fit on a normal size circle one: Anyhoos, hope you guys all enjoy him!

Hello Reaperholics! So I've had this one finished for a few days now, but I usually photograph one sunny days and the last few days have been kind of cloudy. I actually really enjoy the figure, once you get paint on her, you bring out more detail. She's from Ral Partha's Shadowrun range. Her original set came with a dryad and another large elf subtype that I'm also working on. I have the dryad done, but I wasn't happy with her eyes so I'm going to try one more time to fix the eyes before I take final pictures. Anyhoos, hope you all enjoy! For whatever reason, I seem to always see magic flame as green, so this mini was no exception!

Hello there fine followers of the fine Reaper faith and Happy Fourth of July for those in Gringolandia! So here is my Shadowrun Dryad, made by Ral Partha, probably sculpted by Jim Johnson in 1996 if you choose to believe the bottom of the base, and I do. I did her the same time I did the Night Elf I also just recently posted, but one of the eyes on this green haired chicky poo, I just couldn't get it like I wanted to, so I went back and redid the eye, and I still didn't like it, so this is the third version, which I'm also not super duper satisfied with, but there comes a point when I just give up to move to the next small piece of metal. So here she is: and here is a close up of her eyes. Her left one hs that spoke that I just didn't get closed properly. From really close it's very noticeable, but only kind of noticeable from afar and I really couldn't tell with the actual figure, only with the zoom of modern technology. I never had these issues back in the eighties. Anyway, I like some of these Shadowrun figures, because besides being just generally cool, they kind of cross two genres. This one and the other night elf, could easily be fantasy figures, nothing really would orient them to actual science fiction. So back to the painting table!
