    Stonehaven half orcs

So here are my next four figures and being I did a WIP for the last Stonehaven figures I painted, I might as well do another. So here are the four I chose.

    14481: Galdanoth, Elf Sniper

Another member my Frostgrave warband. This time an archer. Any critiques and comments are most welcomed. Please enjoy.
  4. So Here is the Ranger Josey Wales.... If you have been following my WiP, you'll know why he is called that.... I started this mini as a piece for one of the players in our Pathfinder game, and suddenly, something went absolutely right with the face and hair, and suddenly, people are encouraging me to enter him in the ReaperCon Painting Competition.... So I really pushed myself to make him the best he could be... Trying a few new techniques, and taking extra care with everything I did... Hope you like him. Due to the pose of the mini, I took pics from the normal top down angle, and then some pics from below... A wonderful mini to paint, but DO NOT assemble him first!!!! Lots and lots of times I cursed myself for doing that... Comments and critiques welcome! George

    DSM Male Ranger (7403)

So I started this for a player in our pathfinder campaign, he is the husband of the player that I painted some sensible shoes for.... and I have a list of the desired colors... Player wanted the sword instead of the wine skin... Eyes done with GW Scorched Brown, MSP Leather White, and SC75 Cantabric Blue, Skin tone is Arabic Shadow.... Thanks for looking! George

    77030 Danar, Male Assassin

Hi everyone. This is my version of Danar. Sculpted by Dennis Mize. I originally modified this figure to match my character in Flamehawke's PBP. It was a desert ranger specializing in sword and spiked shield two-weapon style. I chopped off its arm and spliced on one of the goblin's arms from Bones 6 pack of goblins 77030 I wanted light colors which would do well in a desert. I was pleased with both the white and yellow. The region in Pathfinder he comes from has a flag which is white, yellow and red. So, I painted the Celtic knot red to break up the all white cloak, and put red under the shield. This was an attempt at TMM on the sword and shield, but I was very unhappy with it. I also am not quite happy with the sand color, but it was an experiment. It was my first use of Pumpkin orange! I think it looks less Arizona desert, and more Martian landscape! I was hoping to add to the base with a barrel cactus, steer skull, and scorpion, but put that on the back burner while I work on other projects. Enjoy.

Ral Partha Stage 1 Elf Thief

Finished up this mini today. An old Ral Partha mini I got a while ago in a set of three. I didn't like the weapon, so I swapped it out for a Space Marine Knife. At the 25mm scale it looks like a short sword on this mini. Then he sat for a while. So I decided to paint him up as a scout more than a thief. I decided to continue to work on sculpted rock basing (my second attempt). Then I put down some greenery and called him finished. Thanks for looking and any C&C you feel like giving.

    RAFM Ranger (Female) 3903

This is another of the Old School cluster I started in March and finished on the Memorial Day Weekend Paint Binge. She's the RAFM Ranger (Female) 3903, a classic figure from the early '90s which is still being sold. For the early '90s she's pretty big. She fits in well with modern 28mm figures and towers over the little Partha ladies I painted her with. She's a little cartoony but she has some nice details, including a bird of prey on her right wrist and a feather in her hair I painted up like a bluejay's. I tried to paint reflections on her sword and armor. Original WIP is here.

    Leif and Daelas

I whipped up a couple of really quick TableTop figures to represent my new Ranger PC (Leif) and his Wolf Companion (Daelas or Shadow Leaf in Elvish). Took me about 5 hours total for both figures and their bases. Bases are stamped with the new Happy Seppuku grasslands stamps and then I used some grass tufts to add more texture. Figures: The Ranger is from DGS Games - SKU: 101008 Forester of Falkaar, Material: Pewter The Wolf is the "Hunting Wolf" from Dark Sword Miniatures SKU: DSM7410, Sculptor: Jeff Grace, Material: Pewter I've painted up a few of my DGS figures so far that I got at ReaperCon last year and from one of their recent kickstarters, am really liking the line, very nicely cast, few mold lines and great details to work with! Of course, I'm also a huge fan of DSM and have also painted up quite a few of their figures.
  10. Hey! I painted the models Saramonde, Crusaders Chronicler and Kyla, Bounty Hunter! And HERE you will find a post on my blog!
  11. Kangaroorex was my partner for the spring exchange. He requested a deep forest autumn theme. I already had a female elven ranger from dark sword miniatures that was a perfect match. Painted the ranger in browns and a green cloak to tie it in with the rest of the scene. Some time ago I got the idea to use ornamental balls for miniature bases. I bought some with a 10cm (4inches) diameter. Filled the bottom with lightweight modeling clay and sculpted the tree to fit in the ball. Added mushrooms to add to the autumn feel. The owl and the mouse are from Busch (1153 HO Small animals set) And made a custom base out of plastic card to put the ball in. I am happy how it turned out in the end.. Taking nice pictures of the shining ball is not easy, so I added some pictures without the ball.

    77090 Mason Thornwarden

I just don't have many NPC minis that are wielding bows. So for this month, I wanted to add another to the collection that I can inflict onto my players...

    Mason Thornwarden (Bones 77090)

Nothing special here, just a quick tabletop paintjob of Mason Thornwarden in Bones: Edit: Ignore the giant pics here, if I delete them in this post they disappear from the other post :-p

    Stonehaven Elf Archer

So I've had this one finished already for a while but never got him posted. One of the other Stonehaven figures I have, got him painted up and finished. Once again, can't say enough how much I enjoy painting these. They got a bit of heat for being "flat", but that, plus their decent sizes make them relatively simple and enjoyable to paint

Trio of Mouslings for my Sister

Needed a Christmas present for my sister, so I whipped up a few Bones mouslings for her. Pretty quick job, just a few hours for the lot of them.
  19. Hey all! Need some opinions from you all on this guy: I like the figure, HATE the weapons! Not sure what this fascination with jagged edged blades, but I plan on swapping them out. The question is for what? Now the haft of the weapon in the figure's right hand (Whatever it is...) extends past his elbow to half way up his upper arm. So this leads me to think of it as more of a pole arm than a sword. Maybe not as the haft is 3/4 the length of the blade. Obviously a hand-and-a-half sword if not a 2 hander. The downward slope of his arm, and the way his thumb rests on top of the haft kind of rules out a sword for me anyway, as a sword of the right length would extend below the base, and his thumb is where the hilts would be. Digging through my weapons packs leads me to think that an axe is going to be my best bet, as an axe can be one or two handed, and the wrappings of the haft against his arm would work well on an axe haft. I suppose a mace or hammer could work as well.... I have the axe on the the right hand sprue, the one on the left hand sprue just doesn't seem big enough... And I have the two two-handed axes from the bottom middle sprue I suppose I could use the sword on the right hand sprue, the one next to the quiver, not the odd one... But the length takes it to the middle of the base's height, if not below... And he has no scabbard. So if you had this figure with the sword blade missing, which would you use? What would you do? He also has something in his left hand that looks like he is grabbing a bat and the out stretched wings are blades... What do I put there? As can be seen on the mini, he has daggers in different places, plus a bow and quiver. Do I just make it look like he is holding out a clenched fist??? There is some bit of a handle in his hand... So Ideas, thoughts opinions? I am beginning to sculpt a little bit with green stuff, but a whole weapon is not something to be done with GS from what I have read... But maybe a hammer or mace head? Thanks for looking and thinking! 8) George

    77071: Elladan, Elf Ranger

Went through my Bones 1 kickstarter box recently and decided to give this guy some color. I'm thinking of using him as a rogue, hence the dark clothes.
  21. The Sentinel He stood upon the outlook, his grizzled features and single eye looking down upon the massive horde of stinkin' orcs that were arraying against his people. He was one of the elite, the Sentinels of his people. He must warn them before it was too late... Figure: Dwarf Ranger, Alliance of the Bat Manufacturer: Norsgard Material: Metal Shield Modification made ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This figure was for an on-the-side exchange with fellow forum member, robinh. We met up this past Saturday night while he was visiting Vegas for a conference and I asked him for a little inspiration. He gave it to me in the form of something that was fun and modded that he could put on his display shelf. He has a running joke with Jasonator about having orange paint on every figure that he does. I took the opportunity to paint his pants orange. Anyhow, here he is! C&C are always welcomed and appreciated, thanks for looking! P.S. I didn't do a whole WIP of this guy as I was under a time crunch to finish him before meeting up with Robin. I did however take a few pics of the WIP on how I did his shield, before I added the design.
  22. I did a quick commission tonight for one of the PCs in my D&D group. Here it is:

    Llwellyn Softstrider, Red Box Games

My version of Llwellyn Softstrider from Red Box Games. A great sculpt as all other minis in the RBG range. I rushed some parts (the varnishing among them) as I wanted to get it ready for the next weekend but still he turned out nicely.

    Mousling Ranger, 77289

This is one of six Mouslings I've painted out of the ten new ones from the Bones II Kickstarter. I'm a little ambivalent about the "girly" Mouslings with the bosoms and the hair and the feminine accoutrements. I prefer to think of the Mouslings overall as general-purpose, could be boys or girls. Anyhow, this one, like the rest of them, has fun and not too fiddly details. WIP thread here. Other painted Mouslings: 92743, Archer (Robin Hood), 92744, Druid, 92746, Thief, 92747, Beekeeper, 92749, Assassin
  25. This is one of the new Bones Mouslings from Reaper's second Kickstarter. I painted up six (out of ten) of them for a campaign. Two of them are archers. This one is sculpted up like a tiny Robin Hood. WIP thread here. Other painted Mouslings: 92744, Druid, 92745, Archer (squire), 92746, Thief, 92747, Beekeeper, 92749, Assassin
