  1. A buddy of mine played his first ever session of D&D a few weeks back. He's talked about it at work (by buddy I mean one my bosses) quite a bit, and is really excited about playing again. At his first session, there were some experienced players that all had minis. He asked them where they were from, and from I could gather, they were mostly Pathfinder and D&D prepainted minis. Since Christmas is right around the corner, and he's been a great boss - and friend - I decided to paint something up for him. His character, an Elven Ranger, uses a special bow. I had this piece on my bench, primed and ready to go, so it seemed fitting. He was ecstatic when I delivered the piece to him today. Hope you like it! As always, C&C is welcomed. CAH
  2. This is an old Grenadier wood elf from their 'Fantasy Warriors' line. I rescued him from the melt table at Reapercon and finished him up last night. I tried to do some freehand tattooing on his arms; I'm not too sure what I think of how they came out. More practice needed, I think.
  3. Hi Folks! I wanted to share some pics before I send off my painted mini for the Secret Sophie Holiday 2016 exchange. I used 100% Reaper paints and the colors I used are listed below. See my work in progress photos here. Reaper Paints Used: Corporeal Shadow Clouded Sea Brown Liner Dark Highlights Desert Stone Driftwood Brown Aged Bone Linen White Royal Purple* Blue Liner Pure White Golden Shadow Elf Flesh *edited to add gem color
  4. Hiyo! I started working on the second painted mini for the upcoming 2016 Secret Sophie exchange, Arthrand Nightblade from the Warlord series. He'll hopefully make a great ranger character for my mystery partner! While there are many great painted examples of him already, I wanted to paint him in something other than greens and browns. I chose a blue and cream color scheme for my main colors– the rest will be neutral browns. I'll paint lighter, worn leather (or maybe linen?) wraps around his quiver and darker browns for his boots and bow. I still haven't decided on his hair color though... More to come after the Thanksgiving holiday! I hope everyone has a lovely weekend. Thanks for taking a look

  6. Another client driven piece. This one from Infinity, & a Gen Con exclusive. He's called "The Unknown Ranger". Thanks for looking!
  7. So here are my next four figures and being I did a WIP for the last Stonehaven figures I painted, I might as well do another. So here are the four I chose.
  8. Another member my Frostgrave warband. This time an archer. Any critiques and comments are most welcomed. Please enjoy.
  9. So Here is the Ranger Josey Wales.... If you have been following my WiP, you'll know why he is called that.... I started this mini as a piece for one of the players in our Pathfinder game, and suddenly, something went absolutely right with the face and hair, and suddenly, people are encouraging me to enter him in the ReaperCon Painting Competition.... So I really pushed myself to make him the best he could be... Trying a few new techniques, and taking extra care with everything I did... Hope you like him. Due to the pose of the mini, I took pics from the normal top down angle, and then some pics from below... A wonderful mini to paint, but DO NOT assemble him first!!!! Lots and lots of times I cursed myself for doing that... Comments and critiques welcome! George
  10. So I started this for a player in our pathfinder campaign, he is the husband of the player that I painted some sensible shoes for.... and I have a list of the desired colors... Player wanted the sword instead of the wine skin... Eyes done with GW Scorched Brown, MSP Leather White, and SC75 Cantabric Blue, Skin tone is Arabic Shadow.... Thanks for looking! George
  11. Hi everyone. This is my version of Danar. Sculpted by Dennis Mize. I originally modified this figure to match my character in Flamehawke's PBP. It was a desert ranger specializing in sword and spiked shield two-weapon style. I chopped off its arm and spliced on one of the goblin's arms from Bones 6 pack of goblins 77030 I wanted light colors which would do well in a desert. I was pleased with both the white and yellow. The region in Pathfinder he comes from has a flag which is white, yellow and red. So, I painted the Celtic knot red to break up the all white cloak, and put red under the shield. This was an attempt at TMM on the sword and shield, but I was very unhappy with it. I also am not quite happy with the sand color, but it was an experiment. It was my first use of Pumpkin orange! I think it looks less Arizona desert, and more Martian landscape! I was hoping to add to the base with a barrel cactus, steer skull, and scorpion, but put that on the back burner while I work on other projects. Enjoy.
  12. Finished up this mini today. An old Ral Partha mini I got a while ago in a set of three. I didn't like the weapon, so I swapped it out for a Space Marine Knife. At the 25mm scale it looks like a short sword on this mini. Then he sat for a while. So I decided to paint him up as a scout more than a thief. I decided to continue to work on sculpted rock basing (my second attempt). Then I put down some greenery and called him finished. Thanks for looking and any C&C you feel like giving.
  13. This is another of the Old School cluster I started in March and finished on the Memorial Day Weekend Paint Binge. She's the RAFM Ranger (Female) 3903, a classic figure from the early '90s which is still being sold. For the early '90s she's pretty big. She fits in well with modern 28mm figures and towers over the little Partha ladies I painted her with. She's a little cartoony but she has some nice details, including a bird of prey on her right wrist and a feather in her hair I painted up like a bluejay's. I tried to paint reflections on her sword and armor. Original WIP is here.
  14. I whipped up a couple of really quick TableTop figures to represent my new Ranger PC (Leif) and his Wolf Companion (Daelas or Shadow Leaf in Elvish). Took me about 5 hours total for both figures and their bases. Bases are stamped with the new Happy Seppuku grasslands stamps and then I used some grass tufts to add more texture. Figures: The Ranger is from DGS Games - SKU: 101008 Forester of Falkaar, Material: Pewter The Wolf is the "Hunting Wolf" from Dark Sword Miniatures SKU: DSM7410, Sculptor: Jeff Grace, Material: Pewter I've painted up a few of my DGS figures so far that I got at ReaperCon last year and from one of their recent kickstarters, am really liking the line, very nicely cast, few mold lines and great details to work with! Of course, I'm also a huge fan of DSM and have also painted up quite a few of their figures.
  15. Hey! I painted the models Saramonde, Crusaders Chronicler and Kyla, Bounty Hunter! And HERE you will find a post on my blog!
  16. Kangaroorex was my partner for the spring exchange. He requested a deep forest autumn theme. I already had a female elven ranger from dark sword miniatures that was a perfect match. Painted the ranger in browns and a green cloak to tie it in with the rest of the scene. Some time ago I got the idea to use ornamental balls for miniature bases. I bought some with a 10cm (4inches) diameter. Filled the bottom with lightweight modeling clay and sculpted the tree to fit in the ball. Added mushrooms to add to the autumn feel. The owl and the mouse are from Busch (1153 HO Small animals set) And made a custom base out of plastic card to put the ball in. I am happy how it turned out in the end.. Taking nice pictures of the shining ball is not easy, so I added some pictures without the ball.
  17. I just don't have many NPC minis that are wielding bows. So for this month, I wanted to add another to the collection that I can inflict onto my players...
  18. Nothing special here, just a quick tabletop paintjob of Mason Thornwarden in Bones: Edit: Ignore the giant pics here, if I delete them in this post they disappear from the other post :-p
  19. So I've had this one finished already for a while but never got him posted. One of the other Stonehaven figures I have, got him painted up and finished. Once again, can't say enough how much I enjoy painting these. They got a bit of heat for being "flat", but that, plus their decent sizes make them relatively simple and enjoyable to paint
  20. How is he going to shoot that bow with a sword in his hand?
  21. The adventuring party from my Pathfinder campaign: Reaper 14318: Cleric of Ishnar Reaper 02669: Oberon Half-Orc Reaper 89020: Harsk, Iconic Dwarf Ranger Reaper 77049: Arthrand Nightblade, Elf Ranger
  22. This is my first mini ever. Some feedback would be wonderful. Thanks :)
  23. Needed a Christmas present for my sister, so I whipped up a few Bones mouslings for her. Pretty quick job, just a few hours for the lot of them.
