  1. I've decided on the figures I'm using for this project now too, they changed since last time. I want to enter it into this year's Reapercon Diorama category (of course) and I want it to qualify for Bombshell Babes diorama, so I'm picking out 5 babes to battle the keeper (RBG) and his summoned demon (reaper glabrezu): 1) Celeste - Sorceress/wizard, 2) Khai the Huntress - ranger, going to weapon swap her to give her a bow, 3) Thorga Half Orc - Barbarian, Astrid Thunderhammer - Cleric, and Sister Vasha Fane - Paladin. This piece will be 2 stories tall, it will have a lot of details and a lot of action, with a summoning circle that the Glabrezu is inside of at the time the heroines come rushing into the Keeper's Sanctum. The badelf adventuring party! Vs..... The Keeper and his summoned Glabrezu
  2. Stared work on this guy finally! I sculpted the base myself. I really like that he is slight bending at the knees which made him standing on the stairs i made look more authentic. On to the painting! Texture is the name of the game from this weekend. GW: Vomit Brown (which is like a yellow brown) on the tunic. Several coats until I could not see grey from the primer. GW: Vomit Brown & Leather White (my favorite paint bottle ) [4:1] - To do some upper highlights on the all the raised areas. Dotting or Stippling with a Mixture: GW Vomit Brown mixed with Walnut brown. So the color was a little darker than the tunic's primary color. Then stippled or dotted with Walnut brown over THE ENTIRE THING. After that I did some diluted brown washes pushing into the recesses and some re-highlighting, re-shadowing, etc etc. The pants: Painted in Leather White highlighted in PURE White washed in Muddy Brown (which is a green brown.) The bag: Painted Royal Purple, highlighted with Leather white then washed in Muddy Brown
  3. Rothmartyn of the DarkWold by RBG Sculpted by Tre Manor Quality: Table Top PLUS This piece is TT+ but it also has a more of a "reach" in it than a TT+. I attempted a more elaborate freehand with the cloak - which you can see on the WIP linked at the bottom. As well as I attempted NMM for the first time. Now let me give you some context on that last sentence. I typically do TMM (True Metallic Metals) and I do them in virtually the same manner but with the added benefit (IMHO) of having actual reflection while on the table. So yes this was my first execution of NMM successfully, it is not far from my normal. All in all I think it turned out well. The green blade as well is in NMM effect. For this piece I really wanted to ascent texture which I attempted on the tunic that is laying across his legs. And other bits and bobs. The face is pretty basic which is one of the reasons I didn't do a close up of it. RBG faces from this era are pretty small and the eyes are tiny. So tiny seeing a pupil and reflection mark would be... useless in my opinion. But I would say it turned out well. More personality than I thought I was going to give it. I was B+ satisfied with the cloak. I tried doing a suggestion @Darcstaar gave me but I think I executed it "o.k". I'll try again with another model. I attempted a few new things with this piece and I like how it turned out. Thank you all for your help and support. Would really enjoying your questions, comments and critiques on this. WORK IN PROGRESS: RBG: RothMartyn of the DarkWold
  4. Haven't had much time to take photo's of a WIP on the warband I've been working on but now that I'm done with them and can work on individual figures at time I figured I would show you guys what I'm working on. The cloak is painted in Monarch Purple then washed in Reaper Brown wash to dull itThis is done because of the free hand pattern I'm planning on putting on it I want to be subtle but noticeable. The horizontal lines on the cloak are done in Monarch purple. You can see how the brown wash really dulled the purple to make the original color pop a bit more. These are guidelines as the moment. To keep the coloration similar I did what I like to call a wash-invert. The brown is washed with a diluted Monarch Purple and the Purple is washed in Browns. And the browns look very purple in the photo but they are not that bad. The center armored tunic is paint VLJ German Grey then the recess' are washed in Gloss black. The Belt is painted in gloss black. This is really just surface stuff right now. I'm going to get into it this weekend. I got bored and had him primed while working on my warband and did some of his base.
  5. Ase Arvidson from Red Box Games. Another miniature that had to suffer before I've settled (kind of) for a sealing method. Ase was a quick, and rather painless, paintjob. I have decided to try and speed up things (since I'm at the time of writing 229 finished miniatures short of having painted all my RBG minis....). This means having to settle for less (one sacrifice is way less time trying to paint eyes on small minis), but with how Ase turned out I'm quite OK with that. The original sculpt had a rather ugly arrow running down the leg, which I cut away and replaced with part of a metal paper clip. I'm not a sculpter so that's the best I could manage (I have since though about using needles but the paper clips are way cheaper :D).
  6. Ejrvindr the Far Seeing by Red-Box-Games Sculpted by Tre Manor This guy was particularly fun to paint as I thoroughly enjoy doing leather. His clock was a labor of love. It did turn out to be "leather" but the browns look really nice. I also tried doing a bottle with liquid in it. Didn't turn out how I wanted but it's good enough for tabletop standard. In need find some tutorials on how to paint containers with liquid in them. I had sculpted the base myself - which you will find I do that with everything. The base is the OSL that is projecting up and on to him. Additionally, you'll notice on this series of miniatures I put Nordic runes on some of the miniatures. You can see that here on Ejrvindr on the scabbard of his dagger. Thank you all, Enjoy!
  7. Wise Frodulf by Red-Box-Games Sculpted by Tre Manor Here is my rendition of Frodulf. He goes a long with my warband color scheme. This OSL (Object Source lighting) is one of three real steps into the technique. I am happy with the way it turned out. I used an small handheld LED to check lighting for the sword. I kind of broke the rule about the rest of the model being darker for OSL but I wanted him to stand out on the battle field. My free hand work seems to be getting better too with the triangle pattern on him as well. And finally, I sculpted the bricks myself out of greenstuff. I really hope you guys like him.
  8. Mighty Grum from Red Box Games. A really cool mini I finished while working through my huge backlog of RBG minis. He's quite small so I didn't bother (or rather I can't do it) with the eyes. I'm happy with how the skin and his fur coat (although it seems abit dull in the photo) worked out.
  9. I've been hitting a slump in my painting that's been keeping me from these forums for quite a while. I'm trying to regain my rythm and getting some pieces done. This is one of them: This is Viggoth the Remorseless, from Red Box Games. He's abit smaller than I would like to but still a great sculpt. Somehow I messed up the varnishing and I just can't for the life of me get some of the glossy spots matt, no matter how much I spray them will dull coat (I've only sprayed him once or twice, I don't want to ruin the whole figure).
  10. Work In Progress for RBG: CleeseWych the Cuss by Tre Manor This is my miniature for my D&D group. This is my first time snow basing. I think it turned out well but I will be getting better with. :) This would have been done before the long Christmas break but... I got lazy. :P C&C Welcome. Thanks! I was particularly proud of the free hand I did on the shield. I use a nail doter for the circles. Additionally, I enjoyed adding the snow to the clothing. :)
  11. I'm tossing down the gauntlet again! Same thing as the last thread I opened up for the DSM Stephanie Law figures. This is a GROUP/OPEN thread for all the awesome figures that Tre "Trebeard" Manor has sculpted for his line through kickstarters Looking forward to painting mine when they are in hand and I really hope to see others posting in here their WIP for these wonderfully sculpted figures. Please NO CHATTER outside of these figures, lets keep it to the figures themselves and questions about them if we need help/feedback from each other. Let's do this! ETA: Changed title, lets make it any of Trebeard's sculpts from any/all his Kickstarters as not all of us have gotten in on all 5 thus far.
  12. I fell in love with this guy, Tre Manor's Dirk the Damned, immediately upon seeing the sculpt. His swagger is undeniable. Again, was happy with the rope on him. Also his clay jug, which hopefully looks clay. I'unno. This guy was in the start of my first batch of flesh-tones on a person-person. I really liked the results of mixing my own. Don't think I'll want to go back. Thanks for looking. Comments and suggestions and so on welcome.
  13. Next up another half-orc, and purposefully so this time. Derek the Dim, from Tre Manor's Red Box Games. He was an accidental acquisition, sent by mistake. Tre was kind enough to let me keep him. He wasn't on my radar at all during the Kickstarter, but I fell in love a little, honestly, when I saw him in person. More of my home-brewed orc-ish skin tone on this, though I left him unwashed (heh). Only real thing with which I managed to tickle myself on this one was the rope (him and on Dirk, soon to be posted, both). Don't think it shows in the crappy pictures well, but it actually turned out great on these guys. Thanks for looking. Feel free to comment and critique and what's it alls it.
  14. Ullr the Red, sculpted by Tre Manor. Red Box Games. Njorn faction, if I'm not misremembering. One of my favorite minis pretty much evar. Had a ton of fun with him, was really happy how he turned out. Thanks for looking. Suggestions and so on welcome.
