  1. I can't recall which iconic she is, but I started her during Reapercon.
  2. Here is the Tiefling Sorcerer I just started working on for my next D&D campaign. My lovely wife is a writer and helped me with the backstory. Take a gander at the backstory and let me know what you think if you'd like... Otherwise, just take a look at the figure and follow along. I've been going back and forth with whether or not I should cut his horns off to fit the backstory or not.
  3. I recently painted this fertility idol from Bones 4. Just for fun. Technically they are stone statue boobies, but boobies are boobies. CLICK HERE FOR VIEW FROM THE FRONT <--- (Stone) NUDITY Here is 'her' back though. :) PS: Couldn't find her in the store atm, maybe not released yet?
  4. Here is my Reaper Bones Ogre Guard, 77456. It took a long time to finish the skin. I had a hard time getting it right with dry brushing layer upon layer and several washes, but I like the way it turned out.
  5. 3rd large figure of the year completed. @Roonfizzle made a request for some giant spiders and we just so happened to get this guy from Bones 4. I am not looking forward to running into this one in the dark someday soonish. I really like how it came out though, particularly the stone work. I wanted to push myself out of my comfort zone and make the stone multicolored; instead of just shades of grey, so I figured it was a good time to give wet blending a try. C&C welcome.
  6. Hey gang! Thought I'd post the Eldritch Demon I painted recently. I decided to take a departure from the iconic green flesh mythos monster look and try a more orangey-jaundice flesh tone. Also used a yellow/orange mix to highlight the cool patterns covering the skin. Also, used the MSP Adamantium Black to give the base a neat volcanic/space rock look. I did keep the tentacles a traditional pink colour. Just seemed to fit with the whole new flesh, soft and squishy, feel (like a sea creature without its shell?)... Cheers! :) -E.E.
  7. Hello everyone, So I finally took the plunge to post here, so please accept my take on the Owlbear from the Reaper Black series. All comments or remarks are welcome! Many greetings, Philip *EDIT : added additional photographs.
  8. The last of my recent work. Always wanted to try/do (first attempt) an orange dress on a female character as it's my favorite color but always told myself to wait and do it on an elf, but for some reason she just happened to turn orange.
  9. “...and I, Colonel Duke Jones, stand on the surface of Mars for all of humankind and in the spirit of exploration that’s taking our species beyond its Earthly bounds. And I’m lighting this cigar to celebrate a successful mission.” “Haha. Good speech, Duke. You're the first human in 76 years to stand on the surface of another planet. How’s it feel to be further from Earth than any other human being?” “Pretty good, Pioneer. It’s humbling and really gives a sense of perspective. The air is thin but breathable. Those terraforming guys did a great job. Hey, the camera’s working, right? This is being broadcast back to Earth?” “Yep, it's all good. There's a delay but they're getting it. Audience figures are even bigger than Kim Kardashian’s state funeral, so well done!” “How do things look from up there in orbit?” “We’re all good, just watching you and keeping an eye on your vitals.” “OK, Pioneer. I’m gonna have another puff on this cigar and—” “Duke, sorry to break in, but Jim just had an idea. The Earth is directly behind you. Could you turn around so we can get a shot of you looking back at it?” “Sure thing, Pioneer.” “How’s this?” “That's just perfect, Duke. Everything’s A-OK.” “Good to know, Pioneer. We're still live, right?” “We certainly are. Jim, you owe me fifty dollars.”
  10. I thought I post some of my recent work. I'm in the process/side project of painting my first dragon and even thou this is a baby dragon thought it might be good practice to how to go about a larger version.
  11. While walking down the street last week, Charlie saw a guy standing on the corner holding a sign and thought he was a bit nuts. This week, Charlie steps over the same sign while shambling down the street. Charlie is in no state to see the irony in this, which is a shame as old Charlie would have found it very amusing. He's also in no state to remember eating most of the guy who was holding the sign. (The second pic with the sign is in the spoiler, as it contains a word that sounds a lot like "clucking")
  12. Oddly these are the first two models I painted up from Bones 4. It just sorta happened. Added a bit of 'stuff' to the altar, the books alone seemed a bit empty.
  13. It had been a difficult and exhausting journey. Zarion Bloodnail, scourge of the Sotha Wastes, defiler of Fruaq Ciliasan, sworn enemy of the Khalolies, had slain innumerable challengers to be here now, at this precise moment, to perform his annual vigil to the one — the only one — who had almost bested him. The blood of the last Llirid who'd stood in his way still dripped from Bloodnail's ancient battleaxe. Finally he was here, standing at the site of one of his fiercest battles, the sun's weak light barely illuminating his soul-black armour. The skeleton of Utto Nosk, a worthy Cuccerine warrior whom Bloodnail barely bested after hours of shattering combat, lay on the blasted heath. His mighty sword Soulrapier, now rusted and useless, was still where Bloodnail had impaled it in the cursed ground of Verm-Ont once Nosk had finally fallen. “Once more I stand above you,” Bloodnail said, gazing with some sadness at Nosk's bleached bones while remembering that fight, now decades in the past. “You fought valiantly and died with honour. I have never since encountered a warrior of your skill these past 30 years, and I regret that I never will again. People in this new age are weak and cowering. You, old friend, were of a dying breed, and I fear that I am the last of that breed. Our kind will never be seen again in this world once I am gone.” Suddenly, a fleeting vision crossed his mind, a vision that filled him with dread as he stood over Nosk's remains. Beneath his cloven helm, its eyeslits glowing with pale eldritch light, Bloodnail's brow crinkled in thought. “No. It cannot be,” he murmured, staring into the distance at the mist-shrouded Esternon Mountains. He concentrated, casting his mind back, trying to remember... “Did I leave the gas on?” EDIT: No one's spotted the Verm-Ont joke? (the figure is on an unfinished Vermont jigsaw)
  14. Here's a simple conversion I made some years ago. I thought I'd posted him before, but apparently not. Not my best painting, but my favorite PC none the less.
  15. always luv pirate's and a mind flayer, woot. Had trouble deciding the clothing for him but that decided to just go with a leather like feel.
  16. I painted a raptor. He was a speed paint to let out some steam.
  17. Just a few more pieces that I completed over the memorial day weekend. The problem with these show offs is I don't usually get to post them until after the thread wraps up... Fun to paint and a really great sculpt, I didn't do the piece justice but I do like how it turned out. It did give me a chance to practice my flame and yellows and reds. Hope you like it too!
  18. Finished painting the Roc as a Thunderbird. I lost patience halfway through, so not much blending and proper highlighting.
  19. Well I said it already I have started a lot of wips and I`m painting at all from time to time and nothing gets finished. Lorna The Huntress is a cool sculpt I ever wished to paint and now finaly I started it. I have got 3 wips already and you missed the first 2 ones and so I made a photo collage for you to see the other wip stages too. Here you can see what I was talking about already: I start messy. I don`t mind about clean painting at all, but with time it all becomes more clean, finer, it gets more depth, more contrast, more vibrant colours and so on. This is the way I work. I have no real concept for her and still consider about a base. Ideas are most welcome I have to link her for nudity I`m afraid and the bad news are: My image hoster compressed the images. Aaaaargh. Images are too small, but I hope you see enough. Next time I can upload single photos to my image hoster and because of a different size they won`t be compressed like this big collage. For the final photos of the finished Miniature I will post a link to my homepage and there you also can see all angles of her. Nothing is finished here and I will go on working out all details more. As always: All feedback is appreciated. Link for nudity: Lorna front side Lorna back side Cheers, Yvonne
  20. I needed some more henchmen to fill out my frostgrave parties, especially some archers which I seem to have in very short supply. So i Found these while rooting through my drawer of 'I dont know where this goes and put a pretty basic paint job on them. I needed some minis to fill out the challenge for this month so here they are: I did try a little freehand on the soldier's shield and played with some of the brighter colors for the dwarf twins so they would stand out. In the end, basic minis to liven up the frostgrave maps Thanks for looking!
  21. Presenting Bregan, a rather happy looking Valkyrie. A bit of an odd sculpt this one, but lots of fun to paint. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.
  22. My first post here! I thought the bones 4 ape men would make good soldiers for my growing demonic army. Still thinking of tweaking some of the smaller details and considering also painting the armored one as a barlgura. Tried to give some texture by dry brushing orange over a black base coat for fur. I also tried to dry brush around the eyes to create a deep red glowing effect. Shown with a human paladin for scale. C and c welcome but keep in mind I’m pretty new to this! The monster Manual art for reference:
  23. So, I freaked out when I saw the green of Mal'adrakar... what... two years ago? I haven't been paining in several years for a few different reasons. For the last several years things have been up in the air, and I need to be in a certain 'head space' to calm down and put brush to paint for any considerable amount of time. I'm super glad that I've gotten the painting bug back in time to paint this one up. I did a LONG WIP post of Kyra and Lavarath many years ago, and I was hoping to followup with something similar. That one was a long weekend when I had the flu... This one I'm recovering from surgery, so I might be able to get some progress done over the next few weeks? I mean, it's a little bigger, so maybe a little progress? I think that base on Lavarath is a little deceiving... Lets try this: Okay... I'll admit it. I feel out of my depth here. This is one INTIMIDATING 'miniature'. It's bigger than anything I've ever painted... except for my garage, but that didn't have a lot of details. I know how I want to go... old school 'Tiamat' all the way... 5 heads, 5 colors... I really want to do some airbrushing on it, but I'm afraid to screw it up. My first step is priming it, and I'll be using colored primers.... I've got them, so why not, right? I primed the body in red, then test fit the heads and wings. I threw in the 6-sider for scale again because OMG this thing is HUGE. Now, I've been looking at pictures of Tiamat since I was a kid... yes, I watched the damn cartoon, and yes I'm THAT old. While looking for photo references my eye kept going back to this image: I especially liked the fade from black, to red, and out to the various heads. I wanted to recreate that! I decided to start early, and go for that 'fade' from the get go... with more colored primer. So, I wrapped up my primed miniature to minimize splatter and overspray, and went to town Then, I sprayed the heads... one green, one blue, one black... and the last one, I just washed with GM 'Nuln Oil'. And, that's roughly a weekends work. With drying time, multiple pieces and coats, and all the damn yard-work that got in the way, I think that I made some decent progress! I'll update this thread as I make more progress. This is going to be a LONG one, ya'll!
  24. Alastriel is tabletop with a sword blade swap using the Bones 3 weapon sprues; my dnd group's sorceress. Dub Bullock is tabletop (Bones 1??) and has no nose; my dnd group's rogue. Jalarak Leadbarrels is ABOVE tabletop; 1st time doing stripes on pants. Nor'Okk is tabletop and will see action SOON Rock Troll is ABOVE tabletop; goal was to practice extremes of lighting and more OSL effects. Umber Hunk is tabletop.
  25. Something that was shockingly lacking in my collection was Merlin/Gandalf types. I think I had traded or sold most of them. Bones 4 helped with that.
