  1. It is Orctober, my dudes. First up, the Dungeon Dwellers Orcs of the Ragged Wound Tribe And Goblins are just little Orcs, right? What better way to celebrate Orctober than little Orcs?
  2. Another day, another set of painted miniatures from Bones V. There's always room for ruins. as if the frozen wastes weren't bad enough, here comes the Mamlord. Super Merrow Brothers Just an Ogre living the simple life. At least the Firbolg seem friendly. Sea-Dwelling Slithe Catfolk, who are innocent of this crime I figured if they were a main culprit for the shipping delays, I should paint the Dragonfolk early on rather than letting them languish in a box. Scatter matters.
  3. Presenting the Frost Giant Heroine from Reaper. Not my best work, I'm still not great at getting all the mold-lines off these PVC minis, plus I was painting her to help work through some issues I was having so she's a bit on the rough and basic side. Was still a lot of fun to paint up though, I'll have to get the other one done now. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.
  4. Posting the rest of my August's (play) work.
  5. I finally got around to doing some basing on my take on reaper's Gauth, in bones I do not know the SKU unfortunately, but I think it is from Bones 4? Anyway, I tried to paint him up as a White dragon, but I also wanted to keep it interesting, so I highlighted from three different colours on separate parts of the hide, mostly pale purple, grey on the central spines down his back, and turquoise on the belly! Take a look, let me know what you think, c&c's more than welcome!
  6. This one turned out to be a nightmare for me. Always wanted to do him in red but of course it's been done and don't like to copy others unless it's fanart and the char should be used as such in a campaign. What color's belong to a magic-using thief? And of course wasn't happy with the colors I chosen and he sat for over a week not wanting to be touched. Unfortunately he was the last to been primed in that group which meant wasn't painting, yuk hate "painter's block." In the end said just get him finished and so with hateful colors here he .....
  7. Well just finished my quarterly 18 cave troll and since had camera out took some pics of other recent work. to me he looks like a ranger from the North and not a druid but oh well, looks aren't always what they seem.
  8. Having recently started a pathfinder campaign I needed some miniatures suitable to use as Bandits or town guardsmen. After looking for a bit, I settled on the Bones Black Maggotcrown Men At Arms. Unfortunately, when they arrived, having ordered them from eBay, the spearman's weapon was mis-moulded, so I had to replace it with the spear from an old GW high elf. C&C's are more than welcome, hope people like my take!
  9. ... is how I start each session of my Curse of Strahd campaign, before recounting my player's disastrous choices and whatever wicked thing I threw at them last time as a result. Although we play our game online and the campaign is drawing to a close, I decided to immortalise these characters in miniature form. I was planning to paint a Strahd for them to fight, but then, uhhh, while I was cutting the figure from the sprue, its head flew into the office and hasn't been seen since. Of course, I should have known, he's a vampire, he can change shape and move through walls. I'll never find him. But will this party be able to defeat him in our next session? Fingers crossed! First off - the party's secretive and somewhat paranoid rogue who goes by "Hope". Out of a traumatic fear of magic users, she dislikes being healed and shaves her head to avoid anyone scrying on her. I decided to pick Serena, Dreadmere Rogue (03873) to represent her, opting for a cloak rather than a bald head. Then, the party's warlock. Ira was an aspiring actor and playwright who made an arrangement with a local lawyer to benefit his career and learn a little bit of a magic. A whirlwind romance turned into a longterm relationship, but when his patron actually proposed to get married, Ira ran off on an adventure. Commitment issues, you know? But at least he has a magical book that allows him to communicate his regrets and learn new spells from his fiendish boyfriend... I struggled a bit to find a figure that matched the "Victorian dandy" aesthetic. No staffs or wands, but no guns or playing cards either. I was in the dark a bit, so I decided to modify Drake Whiteraven (03599), using the book that comes with Khalib, Runelord Apprentice (60098), and fashioning a dagger out of bits. Not the best 'kitbash', but it does the job. The party's druid is Mikal - a half-elf and the oldest member of the group. Though he started off as a loner and a hermit tending to nature, when strange creatures began emerging from sudden mist banks, he had to go take a closer look. Perhaps the real Curse of Strahd was the friends he made along the way. This figure is Vodelis Winterhand (04009), who I believe was a freebie sometimes last year. I modified the staff to be a spear (a magical item found in Barovia!) Finally, the party's cleric - Petrus. Many things in Barovia would challenge a man's faith, but Petrus has come out of it stronger and even more pious than before. This is not a Reaper figure, but a sculpt from Mierce Miniatures. The scale on this one was much finer and the figure itself was obviously shorter, sculpted with more realistic proportions. I decided to place him on a rock to make him appear taller, but of course, that only made him look like he was compensating for something. (He is.)
  10. One of two I recently finished. A favorite oldie I just gotten around to painting, I've always luv Klocke's old work.
  11. I saw the Rocky miniatures, and with how cute they are I could not resist getting one to use as a dragon to send against my players. As such, here is my take on the Flying Rocky, as a juvenile Red Dragon! Comments, criticisms and advice as ever more than welcome!
  12. So "Ashlyn of the Red Rovers of Triboar," what's a ranger doing in these parts, the last thing we need is another lawman. the red cloak is a very bright red I'm afraid my camera wont capture with the shading etc, u can't tell. I know a red cape is flashy but she's is a Red Rover and they specifically ask me to send Ashlyn right over....hehe childhood memories.
  13. Presenting Tirinha Fallowheart, a Dreadmere faction mini made by Reaper. Didn't put much effort into this one, it's a nice mini but I think mine is a bit miscast (her details are a little soft and mushy in places). As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.
  14. Here's the last one I just finished, was going again for the.... .....ordinary people....... .....look.
  15. Just a random assortment of the first painted from Bones V. I sort of cheated...my Kickstarter arrived yesterday but I borrowed these in advance from a friend who got theirs earlier. The Three-Headed Troll: The Zombie Giant: The Cloud Giant: The Cyclops: The Battleguard Golems:
  16. Presenting Lysette, a mage from the Bones USA line by Reaper. Started on this one back in January, but got stuck on her dress so she spent a while in the Cupboard Of Unfinished Things. Unfortunately, my camera doesn't like her sky blue hair and it's really blown the colours out, she looks a tad better in hand. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.
  17. Here she is from my wip thread.....yep a DROW......
  18. Here is the last figure that I had on my desk from my WIP thread. Base is not done because don't know if want her as a monster or part of a diorama (bones black Drow Queen throne with her on one side and a mind-flayer on the other....old ADnD).
  19. She I did try to copy the fan art on her. Again not happy with the way the hair turned out in the back...ugh...nightmarte for me.
  20. Here was one that I had primed but than got put on my shelve of shame, the plan was to do a grouping of mages but it never turned out, ah now to use as a buffer for drow brain.
  21. On her I wanted to see how far I could lighten my drow skin with it still looking like a drow, don't know if I succeeded or not. I do know I picked the wrong model think yea alot of skin showing but after I did the skin and took a look at the armor I was at a complete lost on how to proceed.
  22. I had done this for RCL Q2 large monster. Blue my least and most problem color to paint, really need to use the color more never feel right painting blue, ugh.
