  1. and than Reaper came out with a new bones usa bugbear so just had to try and paint him along with a raiding party for them.
  2. Raiding party member.
  3. and now for his raiding party
  4. OMG what's with me and drow nowadays.... this one I tried to stay true to the pathfinder fanart
  5. Two dragons from 2 different times, done with the same colors. Basically I had both of these on the table and I decided to just use the same palette for both First up: the Panther dragon from Ral Partha. This guy is a long snakey one, his tail was very difficult to get to but overall fun to paint. This mini just seems to ooze stealth as she slips round alleys and empty streets making people disappear. This miniature has been sitting on my shelf for decades because I liked the art and the figure but I just didn't know what to do with it. I finally just broke down and said I am going to paint this! Then on the flip side is the Treasure Rocky. This little tyke has acquired his first hoard and he is insanely protective and proud. And he should be. I was looking at the reaper store and he and most of his pals are sold out, again! These are just a joy to paint and I love painting them. they are just so entertaining and so full of character that no matter what color you add to them or what you put them in they have to shine! Hope you enjoy them!
  6. Also picked up during last week's sojourn to Atomic Empire...I didn't even realize he was half-off at the time. I like the subtle details showing his scale...I had never noticed his dragon cloak until I started painting him! The keyring in the snout is an inspired idea. Again, Giantslayer motivated the purchase, even if I never run it.
  7. This is the Hill Giant from 77939. I have not finished the cat yet, so I only have the Giant here. I have been trying to add various colors (layers of color for one area/color) to my minis to make them more interesting. Following some of the painters here and other utubers and painters like Angel G. I used an Imperial Purple base for this entire mini and then did Troll Flesh as next base for skin and then built up reddish skin tones for skin and then went lighter tan. Hope you enjoy, I had fun painting him.
  8. Worked on some critters. The leeches were painted Walnut Brown and highlighted in medium grey. Then I went over them with Turbo Dork - 3D Glasses. Then wash of Nuln Oil Glossy. Ended up with the slimy/glossy look I was trying for. Dire Crab, I was inspired by the color scheme that many have posted here, which i think they were modeling a Blue Crab which seems to be more green with many interesting colors in it. I painted the whole thing Ivory, and then glazed inks and washes up and tried to be careful on where I laid the wash/ink down. Some were just one coat, like Reikland Fleshshade for the edges of shell and claws. Also uded Army Painter green ink and Nuln Oil (for mix with green for darkest part on top of shell) for shell/legs/claws, Reaper Sepia wash for in-between colors and the underside. Only paint I used was bit of black at tips of claws, and Tropical blue watered down to thickish wash for blue on claws/legs.
  9. Just one more for now. I recently received a kickstarter which had decal pages for books and scrips. They were primarily for warhammer but the author made some changes during the kickstarter to make them more system neutral. I got them and then went looking for a mini to try them on. I found Lor Gorna first and this was the result. I liked the mini and i also liked the color i got on his robes and cloak! And of course his purpose, the book, came out pretty well too!
  10. Galladoria Games’ floating crystals which will soon make their way into my Dnd game and a nice cozy fireplace and versatile fire from Reaper.
  11. I know I haven't posted in a while, but I still check in daily on the friendliest mini-painting forum on the web! Still lurking here while pursuing my obsession with OSL.
  12. Like the title says this new year marks the start of my fifth year of miniature painting. Though I've managed to learn a lot both through this forum and the internet at large I still haven't learned proper layering. To anyone who has ever stumbled across any of my projects I'm sure this comes as no surprise. So armed with a Reaper gift card, obtained over the holidays, I decided it was time to finally learn layering. If it wasn't clear I picked up the 2nd Learn to Paint kit. With the instructions in hand I started work on the first model (77068 Anirion the Elf Wizard). Oddly enough after four years of painting this will be the first wizard I've ever painted. Just like the first Learn to Paint kit the instructions are great. I actually got so caught up in going through the steps painting the robe that I completely forgot to take pictures. That may not sound like a compliment but believe me it is. After just an hour or so I ended the night with a very nice looking cloak. Though I must admit I didn't push the shadows or the highlights nearly hard enough it is still a great improvement over my usual results.
  13. first order - buying packs of goblins, orcs, skeletons, the mercenaries can't find a way to search for such larger groups . any suggestions ??
  14. Seemingly unrelated to each other, but I swear all these minis were drying from the sealer by 11:23pm on 12/31/2020. Here are....Lidless Eye's Last Minis of 2020! A Winter Wizard from Reaper Miniatures oh wait it's Santa, isn't it? To back him up, some friendly Reindeer to back him up. Wait, I'm being informed they're actually Grashrak's Despoilers from Warhammer: Underworlds The last bit of their native habitat, a fallen tree (3D print from The Lost Adventures) A creepy Scarecrow Puppet familiar from Reaper Miniatures. Arik Axereaver, Barbarian, acquired as a bonus along with the Father Christmas. His head seems to reflect everything in the lightbox. And doing what we all should from the last year, the Fleeing Halfling from Warploque Miniatures. He must know Johann.
  15. So some times you just done get things finished with the deadline you have imposed on yourself and this elf was one of those self-imposed deadlines. I wanted to have her done by Christmas, but just got too busy with other miniatures and other things. I got this figure if I recall last Christmas when I won her with some others on a Reaper Christmas Giveaway on Twitch. Here she is: Always thought she was a cute little figure. The other ones I want but they haven't sold them for a few Christmasses now are the two elves, naughty and nice. But one of these days I'm sure they will pop up again. Anyhoos, enjoy, happy belated Christmas and New Year!
  16. Now that Reapers Pathfinder competition is over, I can show off my entry! I didn't get anywhere, but I like how he turned out, so I'm still calling it a win. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.
  17. Finally finished an NPC mage that plays a recurring role in my campaign. Now that she’s done the party will probably never return to her castle .. fun to paint
  18. Further efforts to produce a dozen dragons this year brought me out to the desert sands where even dragons new to worry about being spotted if they want a decent meal. To this end desert dragons are campflaged to look like the ground from above and the sky from below. Hope you enjoy him
  19. Here is my take on the Dance of Death sculpt from the Bones 4 Kickstarter. I really enjoyed this one, finishing it up this last winter. I saw someone mention somewhere online that they were bummed that the heads didn't exactly line up, but I found it reminiscent of dogs when they are snarling while looking sidelong at each other. Apologies for the scratches and discolorations on the background. I've been meaning to pick up some black cloth to improve that. Thanks for taking a look!
  20. I have done about 15 minis over the past year (starting with the Learn to Paint kit), after taking a 30+ year break from painting lead with Testors enamel. Each one I try to learn or improve one technique. This one I focused on pose & basing (took a little surgery to get rid of the pudding base and shape all the claws). The 'rock' is a chunk of bark. Any comments, critiques, questions or suggestions are welcome. Between this forum and YouTube, I am amazed on the knowledge and information available, in an overall great community. Getting ready for Bones V delivery!
  21. I haven't been painting much Reaper lately, but painted up this beastie for Jimmy The Brush's July community challenge. Everything on the beast is TMM.
  22. This was a relatively quick (for me) paint job, experimenting with a very limited pallette. It was intended for an encounter in my Ruins of the Grendleroot 5e campaign, but we're having to play online due to the lockdown. I'm sure I can find a use for it in the future though...
  23. Never did get round to finishing his base. Was needed for a campaign.
