  1. The last of my postings from 2014, Werner Klocke's Bailey Silverbell, Dwarf. A lovely mini, and one I wanted to paint for a while, I finally grabbed her as my wife decided she wanted her to represent her (albeit gnome) rogue in a PF campaign I was running. Unfortunately, the campaign collapsed before she could put the mini into action, but I was nonetheless pleased that my wife loved me enough to let me paint a mini for her. And to play in an RPG. She's pretty good like that. Anyway, these pictures are pretty awful; I'm kind of posting just to post. The skill level is obviously not great, but I absolutely could not capture the dark colors I used. Everything's kind of a wash, here. But I did it, so here's it. Thanks for looking!

    DSM-1150 Female Thief

I finished off the female thief I started work on at the January NEMPA meeting. Less than one month to get a miniature done! The original plan was to use her as my character in a one-shot that was intended to be today, but it got snowed out. She didn’t come out quite how I imagined the character so I decided to switch miniatures anyway. Some notes on colors: Highland Moss, -Jungle Moss, +Lemon Yellow for the blouse Rattlesnake Leather, -Umbral Umber, +Tanned Leather for the pants Ruddy Leather, -Umbral Umber, +Oiled leather for the boots Blond Triad for the hair Tanned Skin, -very thin Violet Shadow, +Fair Skin for skin I’m not super happy with the eyes on an absolute scale, but I am very happy given that this is a Darksword model, and they have realistic (aka, tiny) eyes. The base is from Micro Arts Studios Dark Temple series.

  5. Hello all! To you I present this fine sculpt by Tre Manor, going by name of Dilean Softstep but used as a base for ub3r_n3rd's elf character. Mod job to make it similar to ub3r's description included cutting out the blades and crafting plasticard "kukris" curved blades; sculpting an eye-patch and horsetail. Paintjob is an attempt at the brushes by yours truly, trying to keep to the topic of a nature rogue... on a roof. Since the mini was intended for play, I designed a small diorama-vignette where the actual 25mm square base could be placed, with the intention of making it non-obvious while in place. Base is carved foam, cardboard and some bits of wood. Hanging bat is leftover putty; hook is small wire bended and glued, rope is actual cotton thread. I tried to do a design that was a slice of reality, and thought the "open" chimney space was a cool idea... in retrospective, I don't think it works as intended. As always, many things did not go according to plan or desire, but I am still happy of the outcome and how much I learnt from the piece. In the end, I hope it is displayed proudly by ub3r as a token of friendship, and that this rogue rolls true in his Pathfinder games! C&C welcomed, as usual! Now for some cell phone photos taken before the trip from Argentina to the USA... Closeup of the arm tattoo: Detached mini: Base without the mini: Mini secured for travel:

    77118 Tiviel, Hellborn Rogue

Here is the second one for the month. I created her to work well with Damien. Hope it looks decent enough. Those metal bits on her were a bit tricky to get to work right and the belt kept giving me fits. such a tiny brush was needed that my eyes were starting to ache, but it is done and I am happy with the way it turned out.
  7. Just had a few points left to finish on her, so I finished her up and here she is. Aria, Elven Shadow: As always, C & C welcome!

    Arwen, Games Workshop

Arwen, from Games Workshop. I picked this miniature to finish off 2014 (to get my 2014 total to an even nice and even number) because it probably paint fast. I was somewhat surprised of the result. I'm quite pleased, especially since it didn't require at much of an effort.

    Kassata Lewynn, Reaper Miniatures

I've recently relized that the end of 2014 is fast approaching and I'm nowhere close to completing my second (and most important) painting goal of 2014: that all 2014 purchases must be finished within 2014 (excluding kickstarters). I've spent most of my (recently dwindling) paint time just working through my quickdip pile and really slacking off the metal pile. But as 2014 moves towards its end I really need to pick up the pace. So here's the Kassata Lewynn by Reaper Miniatures. I finished this miniature to use as my character in an ongoing DnD 5ed game.
  10. Pretty quick paintjob of Reaper Dark Heaven Blue Orchid Assassin (SKU 2588). I matched the color scheme with the evil cult I had painted up earlier. Edited to add SKU to title and tags
  11. I'm a big fan of the Arcane Trickster prestige class from Pathfinder-- would Reaper consider making a miniature of it? I know that Pathfinder Society hasn't made this class an iconic character, but I think it'd be pretty widely enjoyed, and a pretty interesting model. Here's a picture of the Gnome AT from the CRB!

    Last Stand of Heroes Deconstructed

I posted a diorama here a few weeks back, but it was never meant to be permanent. I was finally able to remove them all from the diorama and base them all. They are a team to me now and tried to keep the bases simple and matching. Deathsleet's base took me a lot longer and I'm pretty happy with it. Diorama link here if you are interested. I hope you enjoy.

Here we go with more Bones for you viewing. While trying to decide on colors thought I go with colors of one of my favorite super's Spiderman. Thanks for viewing and happy painting.

    14021: Shad, Mercenaries Rogue

Here is another tabletop-bound mini. He is my Varisian Half-Sylph Grifter/Ninja character for the Pathfinder (I use the term loosely) game we run. He is in the process of trying to find a cure for vampirism after being bitten by an elder vampire lord and coming back as a partially turned vampire. Whoa. Anyway, the idea is tabletop quality, so I didn't kill myself too much on all the buckles. However, I'd like to point out that I used a tip I learned on these very forums to do the studded armor. I used a toothpick! It works great... Without further ado... Lord Cirrus Valens, Fey-Friend

    02482: Franc Jeaunoir

A buddy of mine at work requested I paint a rogue. This is the first mini I've ever painted for someone else. Hopefully, he likes it. Did a lot of dark colors, since he seemed like a shadowy guy. Even tried for a little gem effect on his broach. I feel my painting is improving. The eyes don't make me want to paint nothing but oozes, otyughs, and grimlocks for the rest of my days. I'm less satisfied with the basing. I tried some snow and added some earthshade to get it to look dirty. Not sure if I'll stick with this. I may scrape it off and try again. Also, I should probably have painted the broccoli base first. Still need to work on my blending, but now at least it exists. I added a little snow to the upper folds of the cloak, to make it look like it's still snowing a bit, and left little bits stuck around. The single flecks aren't glued on, and if I do rebase him, I can just brush them away. Nothing's sealed yet.

    65094: Torin, Thief

Painted this guy up over the last couple nights. This is my first ever major weapons modification using green stuff. I have attached the original sculpt picture from the Reaper Store. This guy just begged to be a duelist in my opinion, and thus a duelist was born. I tried to use a color palette that was both duelist flashy, but still retained some of that rogue, "I can hide and sneak real good like". I used green stuff to make the terrain of the base as well, and that in turn is resting on a square wooden base. C&C always welcome from any level of painter alike!
