  1. This is the first figure for the 2nd faction I'm painting up for Counterblast, the Mekkus. They are your classic all conquering robot race who turned on their creators and are not running rampant across the galaxy! I started with the Defender #1, a heavily armored defensive unit. Hopefully the fairly simple paint scheme will make it quick to get the whole squad painted up.
  2. And here is a H0pR Bot for my Lancers squad. He's a great fig, lots of ways to pose him. I had a lot of fun painting him up.
  3. So for my RPChallenge this month, I went a little light (but much bigger and better things in store next month) 3x of the Dragon's Teeth and 1x Jersey Barrier from expansion set 3. I probably had the most fun "battle damaging" them like they just took a hit from some sort of larger gun. Each of the dragon's teeth has the damage done slightly differently.
  4. This barrel (keg, really) was briefly used to hold a halfling during the Pathfinder Society scenario God's Market Gamble. Those of you who have played or run it can probably imagine the hijinks that ensued. Beyond that, it's a barrel. Took me about 5 minutes, I think. Something like that.
  5. I am calling this one done. I have repainted enough parts of this one that I am leaving well enough alone. This is my first time painting one of the Impact Miniatures chibi models and I am happy with how it turned out. Thanks to everyone who gave suggestions for colors and improvements in the WIP thread.
  6. ...Ok I admit that was bad. Please see page 1 here for rules and guidelines/questions. This is also the chatter thread here: The first post as linked will contain the updated totals soon and the plan is to start getting the graphics sent to all who have completed the months so far. http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/58628-resolutionary-painting-challenge-chatterinfo-thread/ Also, please only create a single index post for your links. This means to modify your existing post when you get a new figure finished instead of posting a new one. The challenge is again, 4, while including green as the main color on at least one figure! With this bonus challenge, we have TWO choices (No cookies if you get both, but I'd love to see some people with more skill than myself in certain areas The deadline Is planned for March 31st, Midnight, RST. (Reaper Standard Time) Have at it! And my pieces! Terrain, this time around. http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/60836-80055-dragons-teeth-and-80056-jersey-barrier/
  7. Another member of my Lancers squad, this is the Human Brute. I had real problems with his eyes, so I decided "It's Sci-Fi" and gave him silver implants. Really happy with how the rest of him came out though.
  8. Finally got some more of my Counterblast Lancers crew done. Here's a Human Plugger. Overall I'm pretty happy with her. Eyes could have been better, just not with me painting them....at least they are pointed close to the same direction!
  9. This little fellow is actually my worst paint job to date. That's because he was an exercise in seeing how quickly I could get a tabletop quality mini that I was happy with. The answer: approximately 5 hours. ...Yeah, I'm totally not cut out for speed painting, lol. I did try my best to let go of all my perfectionist tendencies and do a minimal amount of touch-ups, as well as using unthinned paint to make things go faster, but in the end I got rather distracted by the fiddly details (like eyes, nails, lining things). It was quite refreshing to let loose and not care if it came out perfect, though. So even though to me he looks really sloppy, I feel he's a step forward in my ability to just relax and have FUN with painting! :) I REALLY like the blues I used for the skin, they're so pretty together! I've been looking for an excuse to use Desert Sky for awhile now. Oh, and the reason why he looks like he's supposed to be holding something in his left hand is because I stole his sword for another figure quite some time ago. Huzzah! --OneBoot :D
  10. Hey guys! This guy is the Monday Miniature for next week, so get painting and send it into Caffeineforge! ;) I'm really killing time, just procrastinating on my reapercon dioramas.. I have GOT to get going on them! Oh well, check this guy out! He has lots of mushrooms and bumpies and stuff!! Also, he was arguing with my camera, hence the 2 background colors. C&C always welcome, enjoy!
  11. Needed some simple minis just to keep painting. This is the treasure pile of 77138 (I've done the candleabras already so this completes the set). Apologize for the photo quality, only got one good photo out of the bunch.
  12. So, I've been working on my Reapercon diorama, and enjoying doing a little tabletop painting to blow off steam. Our Little Man wanted to run Pathfinder for us (he loves the module "souls for smuggler's shiv') so I painted up the iconic female characters we decided to play. No judging the lack of noses... I did NOT cut them off to spite anyone's face. ;) Enjoy! C&C always welcome! Link for naked Drider.
  13. Continuing my March resolutionary challenge, I am doing something about squads, teams or units. As in squads I have started (i.e. done a test piece) but not completed. I seem to have rather a lot of them cluttering up the shelving. As per the resolutionary painting challenge guidelines, I will post them here, and link in my post in the challenge thread. This week has seen little time for hobby, so I “cheated†by doing groups that were extra super fast to finish. Ten more of the Space Hulk Genestealers, in the same style as in my earler post That makes 12 finished. I think there are 10 left to go. And then the Terminators which probably will take much much longer. So much detail! Integral bases, hard polystyrene plastic (HIPS)
  14. 3 of the minis I've painted for the February Resolutionary Challenge. First attempt at trying a backdrop instead of plain white card.
  15. For my March resolutionary challenge, I think I want to do something about squads, teams or units. As in squads I have started (i.e. done a test piece) but not completed. I seem to have rather a lot of them cluttering up the shelving. As per the resolutionary painting challenge guidelines, I will post them here, and link in my post in the challenge thread. Here goes for the first squad: Ten more of the big unit of converted Mantic sci fi zombies I started in January. As I have something like 50 of them ready for painting, I expect more of these will be used to fill out the numbers if needed. I get clearer pictures with not so many in the frame at a time. These are made up several types of Mantic miniatures: Kings of War Fantasy Zombies, Deadzone Plague Zombies, Kings of War Fantasy Ghouls, and Warpath Corporation Troopers. All hacked up and glued together. If you think some of the bitz’ are somewhat off scale, it is because the Deadzone Plague Zombie parts are more “heroically†proportioned ( = thicker/ larger) than the older fantasy and warpath minis. 25mm bases, plastic / restic conversions.
  16. Here is my version of the new Dark Sword Kirin miniature sculpted by the talented Patrick Keith. Luckily as part of the Kickstarter we received two of the sitting Kirin, since one is going to be part of Erato's display base I opted to use one as practice. Here is a photo of both of them before basing side by side. Even though the first one was to help me decide on colors and to test fit on the base, I went ahead and continued playing with new things and placed him on one of my new Bones II bases upside down to allow me to try my new Vallejo Water Effects and Gray Pumice. I am hoping with time the water effects will dry more clear this photo was taken almost 24 hours after application and you can only begin to see the paint on the bottom peeking through. For now I am thinking I prefer my Woodland Scenics Realistic Water and will use the Vallejo Water Effects for things like icicles and water falls. Here he is ready to hit the game table if the need arises for a Kirin mini. And lastly a close up of my second Kirin, once I get a bit more finished he will be secured on his new base with Erato. I am counting these as two for the RPChallenge this month which means I am halfway to meeting my goal of 4. For those interested in the colors used I stayed with all Reaper Paints on these two with a fairly limited palette. The only colors on them are Highlands Moss, Pale Lichen, Burgundy Wine, the Blonde Hair Triad and Pure white. I based coated them in Highlands Moss, shaded with Burgundy Wine, highlighted with Pale Lichen and the highest points are Blonde Highlight. Their manes are the blonde hair triad shaded with Burgundy Wine. And gems were Burgundy Wine mixed with blonde hair highlight in a few steps. Pure white was used as reflection points on the gems, eyes, scales and horn. Once I place the second one on his base I may revisit the highlights if needed so any C&C on him is appreciated. Thank you for everyone in the Group WIP thread for the motivation to get these completed.
  17. First up are two sets of 77016: Rats (6): 12 of them to be precise. These are cute little critters. Until you notice that they are the size of rather large dogs…and they are many, A shotgun only kills one at a time! For some reason, I undercoated 9 if them white, and 3 black. I cannot for the life of me remember why I did this. Based on Mantic 20mm bases.
  18. I usually have 2 or 3 projects going at a time (or 15), but I rarely finish 2 in one day! This is Mariel Twinspar, and she is the "Monday Miniature" at caffeineforge.com this week! You should go check this place out! Every Monday there is a new miniature that we all paint, and David puts them up so we can see how several different people painted the same mini. It's great fun! I am working on some sort of treasure chest for her base, she looks a little lonely to me on that big base. C&C always welcome, enjoy!
  19. I love this sculpt!!! You can't see her here though, because she has exposed naughty bits!! This is where you can see her: https://pewterresinandmagic.wordpress.com/2015/03/12/dryads-and-recovery/ Hope y'all enjoy her. I had a great time painting her, and have to mention that I absolutely adore the new bases!!!! They can be flipped either way, which is awesome because I like them being flush and not having to build a bunch of stuff up!! C&C always welcome, tell me what you think!
  20. So this weekend I have completed the unit of 6 Stranglers. 5 new ones to go with the first. No prizes for those who spot what the colour schemes are inspired by...
  21. For my character Nivin Slimheart over in Dilvish the Deliverer's Talos: City of Intrigue and Adventure! RP thread. In the RP, he carries a longsword (two-handed, since he's a halfling) as his main weapon, so here, I've swapped the smaller sword Hellakin normally carries for a GW Mordheim sword.
  22. So, these girls were a lot of fun! I'm working on the dryad as well at the moment. Hoping to have her up by the end of today. Inspiration was mermaids from Harry Potter. They're naked, so go check them out here! Enjoy! C&C always welcome!
  23. For my character Oroureh Taylor over in ShadowRaven's Rise of the Runelords RP thread.
  24. Continuing on with the Febuary challenge goals I set myself, (painting at least one of each from the following categories: Reaper Bones, Oathsworn, All Quiet of the Martian Front, Warhammer Fantasy, Warhammer 40.000, Kings of War, Deadzone, DreadBall, Mars Attacks, Shadows of Brimstone, Sedition Wars, Drake, Grendel Productions something or other, and to finish something that currently stands around half-done on the shelf of shame), I have done a few minis over the weekend, As per the resolutionary painting challenge guidelines, I will post them here, and link in my post in the challenge thread. Here goes for Grendel Productions something or other: Some old Olmec Ruined Heads I had lying around. I seem to remember that there was a fourth piece to this set, a taller version of the totem-thingy. I could not seem to find it. In the late 1990s the small Scottish company Grendel Productions made a lot of great scenery items in resin (and also a great Fantasy game called Leviathan that featured massive resin Orc Dinosaur-like Beasts, Elven Demons (elves were not particularly good natured in that world), human barbarians riding giant hogs, and Dwarven Steam-Mechas and such. Ah, the fun we had! Grendel went bust over something like printing massive amounts of boxes for a certain very well known collectible card game, and not getting paid. Typical, as all good things must come to an end. Nowadays I think many of the items are still available from “Scotia Grendelâ€. I bought a lot of their sets back in the day, some of which are still unpainted. I intend to rectify this. I had originally intended to paint up a nifty watch tower from Grendel rather than these, but it was leaning quite a bit, and broke while I tried to do a quick fix. Now it will need a slow fix instead. Including but not limited to a built-up base to fix the worst of the leaning. These are painted using “Cavern stone†three colour acrylic paint set from Paintworks, a one-man paint company I supported on Kickstarter a while back. Their gimmick was making paint sets specifically for terrain. The paint seems quite good. I am quite pleased with the result, and am looking forward to trying the paints out on some more stuff.
