  1. Goal The purpose of this thread is to gather in one place all the visual answers to the oft recurring question, “How big is Reaper miniature __ __ __ __ __ ?” That question comes up about once a week; but always about different models. This thread is meant to serve as a place for those foolish kind souls who decide to answer in detail with a photograph to post their work. Guidelines for such photographs “...Posed in front of an inch or centimeter grid, and / or with a ruler laid out in front of, above, or behind them, and / or next to other Miniatures for comparison...” Comparison pics are the most useful because the numerical height of a model doesn't always tell you how bulky it is, or how exaggerated the features might be. Common objects like paint dropper bottles, figure bases, and specific Miniatures like Sir Forscale (76543) can acquaint the viewer with size of a new Mini, especially while standing on a grid. The best comparison shots are like police line-ups: several miniatures side-by-side in front of an easily-read scale. @Pingo @redambrosia and @lowlylowlycook contributed most of the wording in the preceding paragraph (which I edited a bit). 2. Can you please tell me the scale for this mini? I caught the ninja unsuccessfully attempting invisibility from the partially painted merchant's henchmen ( RMI 02548) for size comparison.
  3. Wanted to pick up the decent board game because of the miniatures but I wasn't sure about their scale, I've heard they where 1/72 scale and I've also heard that they where a bit on the bigger side so I was wondering if anyone could post some pics so I can see the size comparison between the decent minis and other lines of miniatures.
  4. Greetings, I was wondering if anyone might be able to give me some advice, please? I have a friend who is playing Tomb Kings in Warhammer Fantasy Battle, and was hoping to field some Sepulchral Stalkers: https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/warhammerfb/images/4/4e/Sepulchral_Stalkers_Tomb_Kings_8th_Edition_Miniatures.jpg However, he has been unable to obtain the original figures, since GW discontinued the TK line, so we have been discussing how I might create some, and are currently thinking of using the following: Body: http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/bones%20snake/sku-down/77321 Tops: http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/egypt%20bones/sku-down/77339 http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/egypt%20bones/sku-down/77340 Before I go buying these and then hacking them apart, is there anyone out there who has all three and might be willing to post a photo of how they match up next to each other for scale, please? I'm also open to suggestions for other sources of snake bodies if the size match is better. I've contemplated the following, for example, but again am not sure how the sizes would match up: http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/bones%20snake/sku-down/77393 http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/bones%20snake/sku-down/77117 http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/bones%20snake/sku-down/77153 Thank you very much! 5. This is a scale question. Specifically on the big guys in the back. When I had started roughing out the wireform and slapping a little base putty on them, I had the idea of Trolls in armor. Now that I'm looking at them compared to some reaper conversions, I'm thinking they might end up having to be giants, demons, or something else. What do you think would fit for those figs at the scale they are? Prefer DnD themes if you think Troll wouldnt work. Also, open to weird fantasy creatures as long as they fit the scale and are tall and wirey. These aren't for any game/encounter in particular, I just enjoy making stuff. L to R, - WIP necromancer and ghouls I'd started scratchbuilding before they got shelved. Looking forward to getting back into those. - Big guys in back are undecided - An old barbarian conversion WIP from a reaper bones - Recent child scratchbuild - My warg rider conversion WIP from a Reaper Bones (which has it's own post here) - and I believe this was a Warhammer Chaos figure that I had added tentacles to an painted about a decade ago.
  6. Okay gang, Need to know if someone can help me out. I have had to settle for making paper mini's for my DnD campaign until I can get some money together and start buying more mini's from reaper. I have a scale I use for smaller figures, but I need one I can use for bigger ones. Does anyone know the measurement of 03137: Nor'Okk, Ettin minus the base. That way it will help me in scaling my minis for larger figures. Actually just need his height. Thanks
  7. Another member my Frostgrave warband. This time an archer. Any critiques and comments are most welcomed. Please enjoy.
  8. Hi guys, first mini after a 6 month lay off. Just saw the X-men and decided to give my take on Nightcrawler. Any comments to help me improve would be much appreciated.
  9. I was lining up my larger humanoids in a row and made an observation, relating to the new larger giants coming out (in Bones 3), mass, and CR (using 3.x D&D/Pathfinder rules). So I thought I'd share my thoughts. :) It seems that for basic humanoids (without regeneration or other fancy rules that boost up their CR beyond their base mass) there's generally a fairly even progression. Which is there's a +1 to CR for every 5mm of mini height (1ft in game) beyond the base 28mm (5'7") mini size. Based off CR added to any class levels. +0 CR ≈ 30mm (6ft.) Standard size for human mini +1 CR ≈ 35mm (7ft.) "Advanced" template Orc Boss (77064). +2 CR ≈ 40mm (8ft.) Bugbears (77015). +3 CR ≈ 45mm (9ft.) Ogres (77105). I'm assuming the Bones 3 Ogres will be about the same size. +5 CR ≈ 55mm (11ft.) Giant-kin (Bones 1 Fire/Frost Giants). +7 CR ≈ 65mm (13 ft.) Hill Giants (77313). +8 CR ≈ 70mm (14 ft.) Stone Giants (77336). Ya they're a bit lightly built but it roughly works. +9 CR ≈ 75mm (15 ft.) Frost Giants (Bones 3). This seems to be about how tall they'll be. +10 CR ≈ 75mm* (15 ft.) Fire Giants (Bones 3). *As they're so wide they're a bit shorter they otherwise would be. So what do you think? If there's any merit to my line of thinking I hope we see some 85mm Cloud Giants (CR 11) and 95mm Storm Giants (CR 13) some time in the future. Bones 4?
  10. Hello everybody. I was wondering if anyone might happen to have any pictures of the new hill giants side by side with any of the frost or fire giants? I was kind of hopping that they'd all be pretty much the same size. Then I could paint them up to be different classes of the same giant race (i.e. fire giants = fighter, frost giants = rangers, hill giants = barbarians). I've heard however that the hill giants are noticeably larger in scale? :/
  11. Painted this for a friends' birthday. The miniature is going to be part of a small diorama, fending off a dragon.
  12. This was in the "Bones We'd Like to See" thread. I didn't want to derail, so here's a new thread. How have giants changed over the years in D&D and other games? Why were they changed? Do the changes make certain minis obsolete, assuming one is strict about base size and scale? Inquiring minds want to know.
  13. Some day in the far distant future, we're going to do a mousling campaign. Right now I have all the mouslings availble from reaper, as well as the LJC minis, so I know how they all scale to each other. But I'm thinking that in this far off campaign we'll need other critters. Darksword makes cool critters (seaturtle pirate!). However, darksword doesn't have anything in their pictures to indicate scale. Aside from one picture that compares the big badger to a fox. Not that helpful when you don't know how big the fox is in the first place. Anyway, does anyone here have some of the Darksword critters and could maybe post pictures with some reaper minis (mouslings would be best) so I can get an idea of how big they are? I'm specifically wanting any of their turtles, the owl mage , possum, guinea pigs, squirrel, or mice. I have a frog, so I don't need those so much. Soooo much cuteness~
  14. Heyguys, been a long time since I last posted. I recently decided I want to build a diorama involvingminiatures and at last one muscle car model. I'm not certain of what scale model car I should beleaving toward. I want one of my characters to conceivably be able to drive said car.
  15. I've been poking around the possibility of aircraft and planes more or less compatible with 28mm miniatures. It looks like the most common airplane model scale by a large margin is 1/48, which seems close enough, I think. Unfortunately, information on Amazon is sometimes incomplete and possibly inaccurate. I've found two models of B29 Superfortresses, both claiming to be in 1/48 scale. One says it is 9" by 7". The other says its dimensions are 30"x15"x10", which seems a bit odd, but one of the reviewers claims it is almost 2 feet long and 3 feet wide. Is either of these actually close to a 1/48 scale, and would either look about right with 28mm figures?
  16. Hello, everyone! I'm working on a conversion of 02813: Reaper - War's. War looks pretty big though, and I don't want the axe look ridiculously out of scale. If it's a little big, that's fine, because Thelgar's going to represent a barbarian PC in our weekly game. Is War to scale with other Dark Haven minis? Thanks!
  17. Hi all, Has anyone purchased a mini that is 1/72 scale? If so, how does the scale compare to Reaper's 25mm "Heroic" scale? Smaller, bigger... about the same? I found some plastic minis that would do well as fodder, but I want to make sure the scale is right before I purchase. Thanks! -mb
