  1. Hello All, Here is a recently completed 77054 "Galladon, Human Wizard". I did have to make changes to the staff. I could not straighten it out by any means to my satisfaction. So, I cut off the original staff, drilled a hole in his hand and replaced the Bones bendy plastic staff with a brass rod. I cut off the bottom and top of the plastic staff, pinned the parts to the brass rod and there you go. Thank you for looking.
  2. Hi, after a few years of not painting, the corona virus made me pick up the brushes again. Every time I start a new phase of my erratic painting schedule there is a little ritual: I try to paint Laurana from the old LTPK2, struggle with her scroll, strip the paint off, try again and then give up to paint something else. The instructions tell me to paint the scroll in white, make a black wash and then dry brush in white and voila, the writing on the scroll will magicly appear. Except that it doesn't, it just becomes a complete mess. What am I doing wrong? What could I do instead? My freehand skills are nonexistent, so the obvious solution (and the one I see done very often on this mini) doesn't work for me. Leaving the scroll blank, because "she just cast the spell and it has disappeared" feels like cheating. I would be really glad for some hints to point me in the right direction. Thanks for your help!
  3. Subtitle: Whaaaat!? Pendrake painted something? This was an exercise in improvisation. People like to use the google hangouts to have painting sessions. But, all my painting stuff normally lives in the next room away from the computational machine. But some of it had gotten waylaid and dropped off in the wrong room so I decided to see if I could manage something. @knarthex was in the hangouts painting tiny CamelFlag patterns on tiny NATO troopers at the same time. Here is Galladorn getting a bath in Simple Green diluted with water. The plastic bag is the type I use mostly for sorting Miniatures. File this under: how to mess with gooey-green cleaners and stuff near expensive equipment. Next he got buried in paper towels to dry off. #Searchwords TGPTGP; Wizard, Flaming Sword; tabletop; Bones;
  4. My first Reaper Forum post! Please give constructive criticism if you have any suggestions! At first I was going to make this dark priest Caucasian, but then decided to go for a “Abdul Alhazred” feel, complete with human flesh scroll and inscribed in blood. I am glad to be on the forum and will post more on my extended “sinister graveyard cult” that I am working on!
  5. Here is Galladon that I finally finished up. His WIP is here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/64680-77054-galladon-bones/?hl=galladon He was missing a hand when I received him so a little searching through a friend's bits box provided a replacement. He is supposed to look like the runes are magically appearing on the scroll as he chants. Not sure I pulled it off but I like it anyway. This was my first attempt at OSL. I placed him on a larger base and used greenstuff to make a stone floor. It was a little empty looking so I made some more scrolls and sheets of paper. My husband has claimed him. If he ever wants a familiar, there is still enough room to add one to the base. This figure would have benefited from a light box perhaps as it is hard to see his face under that hat. He does have a face, with eyes...that I painted while I said really bad words! C&C welcome! Thanks for looking!
  6. Hello again! Another mini for you all today. I actually painted this guy up a week ago, but never got around to taking some photos, and have since moved on to another project. This guy was somewhat of a rush job, as my girlfriend's wizard had an unfortunate run in with the business end of an ogre's falchion, and lets just say his head and body had a "parting of ways". So she decided to roll up an good old fashioned elven ranger for the next week. So we had to pick out a new mini, order him, prep, base and paint him up in a week. Not the paint scheme I'd have gone with for this mini personally, it feels a little cliche, but hey, not my character. I'm calling this guy table quality and done for now, I'm really not happy with the highlight work on the sword, and the cape ended up a bit more vivid than I'd envisaged (lesson learned, mix in some white next time!). As always tips and comments welcome (especially any advice on fixing that sword...)
  7. This is my first completed figure and my first Bones figure. I've worked on it for weeks, on and off, to use it in a tabletop game. I was attempting to achieve an inner glow from the crystal, but I don't think it worked out as well as it I was hoping. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
  8. Something I started in mid-2014 as an experiment with shading, on the scroll. I got bored and finished it up in early January. The canister on a chain I've interpreted as something akin to D&D/PF's "Soul Jar", so it's got a bit of a bluish light to it. I tried to make it look like a faint point, and had a little bit of success I think. Everything on this guy is dark--a lot of it is more apparent on a darker background which I have very unhelpfully not provided--but I still kinda wonder if that soul jar should be a little brighter. Although the shading follows the contours of his robe, the darker splotch in the middle looks like a horrible mistake in hindsight! Some mild NMM and other source lighting effects.
