  1. Another old Mage Knight orc figure that I converted a while ago (WIP here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/60174-mage-knight-orcs-conversionrepaint/?hl=%2Bmage+%2Bknight+%2Borcs) and finally finished up painting during the paint binge last weekend. Nothing special, just a tabletop paint job; he'll get used along with his buddies in a Song of Blades and Heroes warband, as well as for D&D.
  2. Please see the main post here for rules, questions and general chatter, while using this thread to keep a list of links to your show-offs or show-off related comments in a single post: A reminder to please adhere to miniatures posting guidelines as usual. http://forum.reaperm...atterquestions/ All the information you need should be here. Your challenge is: 5 Bonus Challenge: Johnny Appleseed September 26th is recognized as the birthday of Johnny Appleseed (aka Johnny Chapman.) While the legend is larger than life, historically he did plant apple trees and sell trees to other settlers. (as far as preliminary research goes.) While a vague theme, the challenge is "Apple" as in the fruit. If you use only apple barrel paints? That qualifies? Sculpt/paint an apple? go for it.
  3. Yet Another Archer; A Kobold; A Tank; and some Fighter Plane Tokens The archer is another one to go with some of the previous bowmen. I hope to get a small painted unit of them by the time this is over. He is an old GW plastic. This guy just sorta got slopped with what ever color was left over after painting some of the other things. He was the use up the paint miniature. I think his legs are haldardier tabard red from last month's batch of halberd guys. Boots are kobold basecoat brown. The Kobold is a bonesium version, white plastic, 77010. I mixed faded purple with some lighter color —fire orange maybe— to get the brown for his basecoat. It did not cover the archer's shoes very well. Later he got drowned in brown liner. The tip of his spear is the same copper that was used to damp brush highlights onto the tank. The tank and the fighter tokens are 1:1200 scale resin models from Spartan Games. The basecoat on the tank is kolbold basecoat brown with a lot of brown liner mixed in because it wanted to dry out too soon. Later some pure brown liner got shoved into the deep places and kinda blended in. Then bronzey highlights. The airplane tokens are responsible for the archer's dingy blue tunic. First paint on them was Black Ink on the edges. Then they got a top coat of Sky Blue, avoiding the tops of the planes (archer got the left overs). Then the then planes got dabbed with metallic either silver or bronze. Then the edges got some silver to pick out the girder work. The final step was to wash them with Blue Liner. I was trying to get some edging and shadows under the planes. I needed to experiment on some of these. I have boat loads of these for the game they are from. [edits: Bold Tags; Only one L in kobold, added some paint colors, airplane token steps... ]
  4. For September the Format will be a question a day including weekends (unless I decide to vary it). Rules as they have evolved 1. Every day, or so (unless I am out or ill or something) I will post a question. 2. You each have 24 hours to answer that question before the next question is posted. 3. After I post the next question, you can answer one or two previous questions. 4. Only the Questioner may post questions, but you may (and are encouraged to) submit questions to be posted via a PM. 5. You do not have to answer every question, their is no penalty for skipping one. Either simply wait for the next question or post that you decline to answer (why would be nice...). 6. Questions will run each day as I have plenty of material. (I have a list of 40 suggested questions at this point; but always room for more.) ______________________________________________ 7. RVQ is for ReVisited Question. These will sometimes a be new take on previous question topics. and not necessarily questions repeated verbatim. 8. There might be some questions that involve pictures. Thanks to everyone for the suggestions at the end of the July thread. First topic will post later today...
  5. I've stumbled out of my post-dragoncon coma long enough to get this up. Y'all have fun. Please see page 1 here for rules and guidelines/questions. This is also the chatter thread here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/58628-resolutionary-painting-challenge-chatterinfo-thread/ Also, please only create a single index post for your links. This means to modify your existing post when you get a new figure finished instead of posting a new one. This month's challenge is: 4 Bonus Challenge is: The deadline Is planned for October 1, Midnight, RST. (Reaper Standard Time).
  6. Whew! It's been a while! I've been posting away on my blog, but I don't really do these for minis I don't wanna show off. ;) So, this cave troll was painted with my new scalecolor flesh line, and I really like them. I will definitely have to try out some more of their paints! They are really thick, but still very transparent when applied. I was very impressed. Isn't he cute?!! I really love this mini. I'll probably have to get another one and paint him like the one from LOTR just for funsies. Let me know what you think! C&C is always welcome
  7. She's got some nudity hanging out.. So pics are on my blog. http://pimpmypewter.com/2015/09/19/boobies/ Hope y'all like her! This mini is just awesome.
  8. So, I love these little guys. When I was in the boneyard (definitely gonna do that again!!!) I picked up a few of them. I wanted a bunch of familiars, but when I started painting them, I thought they needed to go together. I put them on a little microartstudio base, and that was that! (that's not true... I started painting them at least 4 months ago...like riight after reapercon.) Anyways, hope y'all like them! My camera and I are still disagreeing on the whole "depth of field' thing, so most of the pics weren't in focus enough to post. grumble.. C&C is always welcome!
  9. This is a DDM prepainted figure, the Ogre Ravager that I repainted. The only thing I changed was to cut off all the blood drops that were on the axe blade and his leg. I painted him last weekend during Inarah's paint binge. The stone with the runes on it is a press mold I made of part a resin base to add a little detail to the base. Front: Back: Close up of face and axe; I tried to go for a rusty look to the weapon.
  10. Oh my god! This thread is crawling with brownies!! Willow, anyone? Anyway, I grabbed a couple of 15mm Aztecs from the last round of the Box of Good Will with the intent of using them as fey-folk, and here they are. I painted them during Inarah's paint binge last weekend. I wasn't too sure what to do about the shields, so I painted the shields as buttons. I know that at this scale they'd have had to get them off of a Titan or something, but rule of cool. With a Bones goblin lurking behind them to give a sense of scale.
  11. My goals are less "total number of figures" based as they are "learn lots of stuff" based. 1) Finish my Summer Exchange mini and send it off 2) Continue to figure out highlighting 3) Invest some time in learning color theory, including saturation and intensity 4) Paint at least 3 PC character minis 5) Finish the weapon swap on my PC mini 6) Finish painting my NOVA female mini 7) Anything else as inspiration strikes Huzzah! --OneBoot :D
