  1. The Fisherman's Rest. You know the place. The smell of stale beer, sea salt, rum, and fish scales. "Evenin,' Old Billy! How be ye these days?" "Oh, I be well enough, exceptin' as how me fishin' trip t'other day went. Now listen, lads. 'Twere a fine calm sunny day and I were far from shore, a-castin line for snapper..." "Wow!" "Nay, lad, there's none in town who can catch a minnow and sell a grouper like Old Billy." "Nay, swear on me old mum's grave it happened! But if ye find that hard to swallow, ye might be ill-prepared for what came after..." *urp* "no, now I think on it, twere more like this, aye, that sounds better." "...but the long and the short of it, I never DID catch that snapper." "Okay, Bill, time for ye to get some cold water in you." *** Chronoscope Pulp Ship's Captain and Ship Hand. Had them painted up, and the shark, but didn't have a good story until a friend gave me one of the Juvenile Kraken mini. Between the shark's integral splash-base, the squid's splash-stand, and the Water Elemental, we got some good scenery! I had a lot of fun making the Fisherman's Rest backdrop, too. Old Barkeep has heard all of these yarns before.
  2. I had fun painting this one. The base coat is just a couple of coats of Panzer grey primer from Vallejo, which came out with quite a nice gloss finish. The base is just my usual modelling paste, paint, and gloss mod podge.
  3. While waiting for the Dark Depths expansion from Bones 5, I got a little into the nautical theme. After being some example of the shark from the WizKids deep cuts line. While gap filling with green stuff, I decided that just painting the shark would be boring. So I sculpted a really basic tail and magnetised it. Sure the tail is really basic and I am missing a couple of the smaller fins, but it does work for its intended purpose. If I ever decide to return to this project, I may make a transparent base that would hold the shark off the ground. Allowing it to double as either a jumping shark or a swimming one.
  4. Part of my Beneath the Waves Project. WIP: https://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/88958-beneath-the-waves-by-glitterwolf/page/6/#comments Design: EPIC MINIATURES Printed on ELEGOO MARS.
  5. I got this one printed out in FDM from a kickstarter. In hindsight I should have chosen resin, it did help me decide to go for a resin printer myself. The printlines are visible and it's rough, I even used putty to smooth things out where I could. All in all a nice sculpt though. WIP here: https://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/88958-beneath-the-waves-by-glitterwolf/page/5/
  6. I picked up some of the Cmon Wrath of kings Hadross pit fighters cheaply, and have painted a couple of test models. I am not sure about the scheme but will keep at it. The bases don't show up well but I poured Mod Podge (the relief one) into an upside down Reaper plastic base. The product is a lot thinner than mod podge and it is hard to 'sculpt'. Will have a think about how to make these more dramatic.
  7. First mini I finished in 2020! Sharkman / Karkarion Warrior Bones. Wielding a fistdagger made of his great great grandfather's tooth he's ready for battle. Nobody will contest his hunting grounds! Time to shed some blood! WIP here: https://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/88958-beneath-the-waves-by-glitterwolf/
  8. I decided to do the shark too. I'll post to where I've completed but still lots to do. So much that I've given up on my whale shark plans. This is photographing way better than it looks in person. Then I did turquoise ink on the clear plastic and ashen blue and vgc glacier blue and turquoise ink wash on shark. Then I started working in rubber /highlight and teal ink and spectral glow for the whale shark markings. Now I've added a bit more rubber on the top
  9. So i have two of these guys, and I'm modifying one to give it a bit of a different look I used a base from 80038: Bathalian Centurion for a shield, and cut off the shark tooth and glued it to an arm from 62111: Numenera: Erynth Grask i had laying about after a modified exchange mini and made a improvised axe i did a bit of green stuff additions to the shield for a fish skeleton color wise i'm not certain what to do just yet. I want patterns...i'm thinking a whale shark for the improvised guy, maybe a tiger or bamboo shark for the other
  10. Last week I posted a photo of a Bones II Sharkman figure that I painted like a regular shark: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/63885-sharkman-77278-from-bones-ii/ This week I completed another one of the Bones Sharkmen, but I wanted to do something a little different with this second one. The first Sharkman I painted just like a normal shark would look: so this one I wanted to do more as a creature who had adapted to life on dry land. Perhaps a desert land where all the oceans had dried up. In keeping with that, I wanted to do this one in more a brown scheme like he had evolved to blend in with the surrounding dry rocky landscape. For fun, I thought I would keep a little bit of his ancestor's grey coloring in his tail. I'm pleased with how this different look turned out. For the complete write-up on how I painted him, please see my blog: http://allbonesabout.blogspot.com/2015/08/another-sharkman-desert-version-bones.html
  11. One of the first minis I dove into with the new Bones II set. I think I had bigger things planned for him, but I took some risks with little planning. I'm not real disappointed with the result.
  12. While not the first started, this is my first finished from the Bones II Kickstarter. This mini is huge, the size of a small dragon. As usual, I am lazy-arsed about basing and have simply painted up the base as-is. Comments and criticisms honestly appreciated. WIP thread here.
  13. I'm painting up a batch of figures for oceanic adventures as my husband goes "Ooh, I have to come up with something good for that!" This is the new Bones II wereshark, a version of 03625: Karnedge Gorefathom, Karkarion Boss. First I primed it with Reaper's Brown Liner. I started painting the sand under its feet with a layer of pure Iron Oxide Yellow, followed by a mix of that plus Titanium White, Burnt Sienna, Burnt Umber, and just a breath of Phthalo Green. I then mixed up a subdued dark blue-grey out of Ultramarine Blue and Burnt Sienna. It's for drow flesh, but lightened up just a bit makes a good shark grey. I then mixed a much lighter version, not quite pure white, and laid down some thin color for the creature's belly and underparts.
  14. Basing my color scheme on a zebra shark Base coat is Stained Ivory, stripes and belly are Bathalian Chitin
  15. Familiars completed for my Coraldrax basing project! [found here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/56564-basing-coraldrax/ ]
  16. Posting my Winter Exchange mini. Always appreciate any C&C feedback. I need to work on my photos as this was my first time with the mini booth. Thanks
