  1. You know what sort of year it’s been when you think to yourself that you played a game “recently”, only to find that it was last October. So, in a “recent” game of Dragon Rampant, I was using a scenario from the related game Lion Rampant which called for three “wagon” markers for one side to be escorting. I had two 1/72 scale plastic wagons or carts at the time, so I threw in a noblewoman (an old Airfix mounted Maid Marion figure) as a third element to be escorted. Afterward, I pulled some farm animals out of the plastics collection and decide to add some flock/herd bases to the baggage train. However, pandemic, etc...I finally got the sheep painted yesterday, deciding at the last minute (earlier this week) that they would look better with someone to keep an eye on them. The shepherd is another of the ubiquitous Robin Hood set figures. While I was at the desk and working, I also finished up an addition to the NPC/civilian/camp follower collection. This figure came from the Strelets/Linear-B Roman Transport set, and didn’t look particularly Roman, so she gets added into the general 1/72 fantasy pool. Sir Forescale would pass as an ogre with these guys. Anyway, it felt good to get something done, even small...
  2. This one is for my mother. I think Mary's eyes are the best eyes i have ever done on a human mini
  3. I have painted up the Nativity Set as a gift for my girlfriend's parents. They will get it close to the holidays. I added the sheperd with sheep, the donkey and a cow. All Reaper miniatures: https://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/nativity/latest/01430 https://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/nativity/latest/01433 https://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/nativity/latest/01439 https://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/cow/sku-down/03719 I put the whole set under a dome. And made some barn soil with putty. WIP here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/69198-nativity-scene-as-a-gift-by-xherman1964/ Only after all was glued together I noticed a small bit of yellow brown on the sheperd's clothing, oh well, let's assume he got a bit dirty dealing with the animals... I hope they will like the gift..
  4. These are some plastic animals by Model Power intended for O scale railroads ("Model Power" No. 6171, "36 Unpainted Animals, O-027 Scale"). They are a little large and a little crudely modeled, but until Reaper came out with its new animal companions they were what I had. These cows are painted up as Ancient White Parks, a heritage breed from Britain that dates to the thirteenth century. The goat is another heritage breed, but I don't remember which. The sheep is a sheep. Here they are for scale with a not-quite-finished Reaper 60079: Lyrie Akenja. As you can see, O scale is a little bit large for 28mm.
  5. I painted my sheep familiar for D&D he has a hat.
  6. Update 12/16: Check the latest post for pics of Dwarves, Sheep, and Pack Mules. So tiny! So, I'm not so good at updating things, but here's a thread for my random progress reports as I feel the need to post them. What got me started on this is my recent acquisition of some 6mm figures (from Baccus 6mm in the UK). Here's a pic of some of them primed, sitting on one of my many HA in-progress pieces. The 6mm figs are from the Dwarves line by Baccus, the lower large figure is Reaper's Mad Scientist (Female), the upper large figure is Darksword's Female Mage on Stairs (they are included for scale comparison). Further updates eventually. -Dave
  7. Okay, so a brief respite away from my standard fantasy Bones stuff to get a small portion of my mother's Christmas gift done. She collects nativities, so this made a lot of sense to finally order and paint up. Group shot, then close ups follow... The big/little guy was the hardest, by far. There isn't a lot of room for detail, being a baby, and painting it where it doesn't exist is difficult for me. Went for a closed eye look, hopefully it comes across that way...
  8. Well, might as well post some of my best stuff. and Sheep-Thing:P Most of my Minis that I'm proud of are ones that I've Mangled...I mean Modified. So here goes nothing... Note: I'm just posting one Pic per Mini so I do not Overload anyones Inter-Webs, hopefully. You can find more pics of each in my PhotoBucket Album linked in my Sig. So that was Sheep-Thing. Made from a couple of DDMs and some fuzzy cotton sheet thing. Was inspired by a player in the Local Encounters group. Her PC was a Tiefling Fire Elementalist that had refluffed her powers as being originating from a Deformed, two-legged Sheep named Snapdragon She had saved. So I made Sheep-Thing for Her. Splug, Goblin Sorcerer and Emergency Ration Supply :P Also, Used for my Goblin Cleric, Itch, that I played during the first Drow themed Encounters Season last year. Itch was Awesome! He had conviced 3 Goblin Minions to follow him at one point. Fed one to an Ogre, One died in battle and the Third, "Meat-Shield #3", Road a Spider that was on Fire into the Drow Torcher Theater as a distraction! Fun Times! Itch was played during the same season as Sheep-Thing was. Behold! My Lazor Beholder! Was a Prize for the DDM Guild Community Draft at GenCon 2012. Another Prize from GenCon 2012 Com. draft. I painted a Clear Plastic DDM Guild rebase as a Shardmind warrior-type. The DDM Elder Blue Dragon Repainted for the 2012 North American DDM Championship! Winner of the Champs won this bugger! Mini is one of the best sculpts in the entire DDM line and seeing it with a decent paintjob proves that. And Damn, that thing took forever to paint! For the "God of War and Tyranny" Bane here originally came with a rather Dinky Mace. So, I fixxed it:P And finally, we have my "Country-Western Cow-Boy":P So, I took a DDM Goristro and Chopped off its Right Arm, repositioned it, then made him a Cowboy Hat, gave him a Tongue and added a little wooden Guitar to his now correctly positioned Arms.
