  4. Because I have finaly off a couple of days, I`ll take the chance to upload one wip project more. But that`s enough for the moment. This will gonna be a diorama in the end and I started it as group project at my german home forum the Bemalforum. Sometimes we just consider a topic and the members of the forum try to keep to this topic with their projects. I started this as group project with the topic "Make love not war". I didn`t get it finished in time, but I don`t mind and nevertheless finish it as I have planned it. Concept: As said the topic is "Make love not
  5. I knew it... sooner or later I'd end up painting a Space Marine. One of my friends gave me a spare Marine in MkIII armour, so I decided on the Death Guard as I've always liked their colour scheme. It's fun to paint pristine white armour and then slap so much brown ink on it that it would have been easier to just drop it in a pot of coffee.
  6. Presenting an Iron Priest from the Space Wolf chapter of the Space Marines. As a Space Wolf I know he's supposed to be a light grey, but his armour panels have this lovely hand-beaten metal-like texture to them, so it seemed a shame not to paint them metallic. He then got more and more colourful from there. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.
  7. I do finish a miniature on occasion. This one was the proof of concept. Now to finish three more for this squad (one is already done), then the rest of the force.
  8. For a painting competition entry I had to find a 20 year old miniature to work with. Digging through my old boxes of minis (mostly Games Workshop) I found a "Kharn the Betrayer" chaos space marine from 96 (I think was the date on his tab). Decided I wanted to give him a fun base, something more than just the general skull pile he's usually on. So, started scratchbuilding a symbol of Khorne for him to stand on, here's two pics of the understructure. (Bottom of the actual base is the black, white cap is just for handling.) This (although small) is the most involved basing
  9. Well, it's been about seven years since I last painted a space marine, and I have to confess that seeing all the amazing work on the new Primaris Marines was making me want to give it a try again. I have long thought it would be cool to do a chrome (or SENMM [Sky-Earth Non-Metallic Metal]) Marine, so I finally gave that a shot! The technique itself is painfully slow, but I had a lot of fun, and I'm pretty happy with the results! Oh, and I did do a little bit of conversion work by swapping in some old Dark Angels bits, in case anyone was wondering!
  10. So I finally got this book and began prepping the miniature that came with it. I'm really impressed with the design of the new Primaris. Very well done. To start I felt like the over all miniature needed some more weight to it. I mixed up some sculpty and green stuff and filled in his base and pressed the remaining into his back. It still fits together cause there is a lot of hollow space in him. The only reason I knew it was light was they had a few on display at the Games Workshop store so I got to pick one up.
  11. Little is known of Father Mordicais past, before he pledged his allegiance to the God of Plagues, but the speed at which he and his Chalice Of Filth warband have gained notoriety amongst the multitudes that battle for the attentions of the Dark Gods make him someone to be feared and respected. Presenting Father Mordicai - The Lord of Corruption, he is the leader of one half of Games Workshops latest Warhammer 40K starter set. Not completely happy with this one. Made a mess basing him, there's sand all clumped up around his feet. I also couldn't get his arms to atta
  12. Presenting Grand Master Voldus, he's a special character from that Gathering Storm campaign thing Games Workshop have had going on recently. Still haven't worked out how to paint Space Marine armour properly, but he was fun to work on. As always, any comments or criticisms, are warmly received.
  13. A deeply religious fellow, the Knight of Remembrance was originally a Knight Chaplain responsible for recording the names of his fallen comrades in arms. Spending too long seeing too many good men die due to the arrogance and incompetence of those in charge, he left his original knightly order to offer his skills to those in need. Another Space Marine from Games Workshop Deathwatch:- Overkill set, I had a lot of fun painting him even if he was covered in way too much stuff. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.
  14. Presenting the Knight of the Storm. After encountering the legendary Knight of Skulls, he was inspired to abandon his original knightly order, who had become little more than the attack dogs of the corrupt Galactic Nobles, and set out on his own. Eventually he banded together with other, like-minded, knights to form The Brotherhood of Bones, a beacon of hope in an otherwise cold and uncaring universe. Yep, it's another Space Marine, this time it's one of the heroes from the Deathwatch: Overkill boxset. Didn't want to use the official Deathwatch colour scheme (a very boring mostly black wi
  15. Here's a rendition of the old version of the Despoiler. With Forge World's newer rendition of him (in their Horus Heresy line) it is easy to overlook the older one. For one thing, he's smaller than you would expect from a character in terminator armor- but he fit right in back when he was first introduced... about twenty years ago. For the record, credit for the base belongs to my client. Anyway, here he is:
  16. Presenting the Knight of Skulls. Despite his fearsome appearance, he is a true champion of justice who travels the galaxy protecting the vulnerable colonists of the outlying worlds from marauding Space Pirates and other terrors. He is actually a Dark Angel Interrogator-Chaplain Space Marine from Games Workshop, but I didn't want to get bogged down into matching official colour schemes and such so he is now The Knight of Skulls. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.
  17. I decided to reboot by old space marine army and here is my first finished mini for that endeavor. I decided to go with an older look and am thus buying as much of the forge world minis for this as is possible. Yes it is very expensive but I'll enjoy they way it looks better. And since all of my old imperial fists minis need rebasing anyway, I thought I'd start over. The bases I'm using for this are the secret weapon blasted wetlands. I'm also using the Imperial Fists decal sheet from forge world. Thus, I give you the Imperial Fists MKII Standard bearer. This is a c
  18. finished my Chaplain for my Luna Wolves :) Finally got better lighting and some better pictures. Still a line or two on him I wish I had done a better job on greenstuffing :( Really liked painting this model, it has a lot of details and I had a lot of fun painting the "plasma" effect on the gun. And a shot of him with the models I've completed thus far:
  19. Here is a project that I really got to get into. My client wanted an Imperial Knight that had turned to Tzeentch. It was to be allied with his Chaos Daemons force, so it did not need to be a Thousand Sons Knight. There is only a little bit of conversion here- the head was swapped out for the head of a High Elf Phoenix. Otherwise, the alignment was all down to coloration. I wend with a blue to purple fade for most of the armor plating- I felt this was right for the god of change, and the bright pink contrasted nicely with that (and also matched a force composed largely of pink horror
  20. I've been working on my Fabulous Force and so far I gotta say they're turning out better than I expected. But there's so much room for them to be better... For example, while the whole point of these guys is to be PINK!!! I can't help but find it a bit too monotonous. Especially on the back. It probably wouldn't take much to accent it and break up the pink a bit, I'm just not sure what to do. Opinions would be very appreciated, on any aspect of the mini. Edit: Show-off thread here.
  21. Not quite sure where to put this, but I wanna show them off, and sculpting seems most appropriate. Here's a set of Land Raider doors I've sculpted (virtually, at least) and sent to Shapeways to have 3D printed in ultra fine detail plastic. Some day, I'll even finish painting the Land Raider itself. It's only taken me eleven years to get this far. As they arrived: With base coat and in place on the original model as proof of fitting: With final paint:
  22. So I have not painted a terminator in over 20 years and this is my first attempt at NM gold. My friends son had this laying around and asked me to paint it for him. His choice of colors and I tried to keep the mini with a dark feel. Not exactly how I wanted it to end up but still more than happy with end result. please c&c and thank you in advance ;)
  23. So Loim sent me an Evil Tree. This is good. I like evil trees; have ever since "The Wizard Of Oz" and "H.R. Pufnstuf" turned my childhood into a surreal candy-colored hell of photovores that wanted to eat me. Anyway, Loim did me a solid recently, and included an experiment on his part -- an evil tree he'd sculpted from greenstuff as an experiment. A learning experience. Having apparently learned what he wished to learn, he sent it to me. I'm not proud. I took it and ran with it. I'm not sure where my head is at, lately; since taking a break from the Great Swordsmen project, I've been doing
