  1. Thank you to both @Inarah and @Darcstaar! I was asking about how to finish the smoke, flame, explosion thing needed to be painted. Good direction, so thank you.
  2. I'm hitting a wall. A few actually. My patience is running thin on this all white color, which I did my best to add color to and depth. It's taking me a lot of layers and carefully placed highlights. Overall the white is working, but making the cape, outfit, and hair all different colors is not easy for me. Now the second issue. I'm struggling with the explosion below her. I need a reference or a video that does a good job of showing off how to paint an explosion. I'm thinking orange, yellow, Grey colors. I tried to start it and ended up running out of steam. I'll need high contrast to make it look awesome and different from her outfit. Help!
  3. Here's one from the Marvel United X-men set. Was really unsure about doing darker skin, but I think she came out pretty good. Always open to improvements and feedback.
  4. I am starting a WIP for these two giants. While distinctly different, I want to use some colors to tie them together. Here they are primed and with a base coat for the skin tones.
  5. I'm nearly finished with the storm giant from the first Bones Kickstarter. There are still some details to do along with base decoration, and I might have to rethink my color choices on the octopus-themed bracers. I straightened the notoriously floppy sword by cutting it at the joint of the guard, drilling out both the handle and blade, and inserting a pin made from a paperclip, gluing along the length of the pin and the joint with E6000. The resulting joint is strong so far. I attached the base to a 2x3 inch plywood oval (actual measure is a little larger), again using E6000, which is getting to be my favorite glue for unlike materials despite its long drying time.
  6. Alrighty... My first official WIP thread yay...... So, I today I'm supposed to be studying for a test but I decided to take a paint break. SO, I picked a figure that looked fun and stuff... For reasons that are possibly classified, (lol, inside joke...) my storm giant whom for the moment I will call Flynn (not his official name) is missing an arm. I started putting flesh on him and then a bit of NMM and then I decided on some red fabric Then just a bit more work on the NMM & hair and flesh
  7. This is the third of a series of five dragons I painted in the last two months. (Well, technically one of them isn't a dragon.) It's the Shadow Dragon, one of the two smaller (only about elephant size) dragons from the first Bones Kickstarter set, "Here Be Dragons," sculpted by Sandra Garrity. I painted it up not quite knowing where I was going, starting with aquatic thoughts, adding stripes, and then going over the cliff into total madness. WIP thread here.
  8. Continuing to post from my latest latest photo session, here's the unnamed male storm giant and Yephima. Both loaded up on NMM, and a fun attempt at an aqua glassy armor on Yephima. The storm giant's face has a wicked moldline I don't think I've ever seen before until I got this picture linked up and previewed. I didn't notice it while painting, nor have I noticed it when handling it later... oh well. Next time I'll get them all. I promise. Maybe.
  9. They say a work of art is never completed, merely abandoned. Here are my latest abandoned projects:
  10. Fun weekend project. Had the Lily mini sitting around since Christmas waiting to be painted, got inspired by CashWiley's posting in the February challenge thread, and then spotted the air elemental at the FLGS on Friday. My first attempt at painting dark skin. C&C welcome.
