  1. Inarah

    Gabrielle

My final figure for 2016, Gabrielle by Bombshell. I slightly altered the position of her arm, and changed her stance by basing her on a step, so it looks more like she is running, rather than lunging. Really proud of her face, I used a magnifying glass in addition to my usual painting glasses, so I could get the detail.

    Sarayad (dryad)

One of the last pieces I painted for 2016, a sarayad, or noble dryad from DGS Games. She is going to really surprise some PCs one day.

Quest for the perfect NMM blade

I started experimenting with NMM, and there are so many cool NMM tutorials over the web that I decided to try a couple. I got this pewter blade I can strip and re-paint as many times I want. This is the first attempt, I was roughly following this tutorial: It didn't turn out as nice as the blade in the tutorial, but I'm still kind of happy with it. NMM is still magic for me :) Advice is welcome and appreciated!
  4. With me being a bit more excited about all things Kingdom Death at the moment, I put this guy on the table. So far:- I'm getting a basecoat down on the cloth parts, we've got Vallejo Hexed Lichen, Vallejo Scarlett Red, Vallejo Royal Blue and Oiled Leather. Originally the Oiled Leather was just a step towards eventually orange stripes, but I'm really liking how it looks next to the purple, so they may stay.
  5. Hello fellow Forumites! I always enjoy coming back from ReaperCon, as my creative battery has been recharged and I'm ready to paint again! I'm currently working on a special project for someone who plays fierce female barbarian brawlers in her Dungeons & Dragons campaigns. I'm even painting it in her image, complete with upper leg tattoos. Reaper's "Viking Girl" sculpted by Bobby Jackson was the perfect choice for this! I'm still not convinced I can pull off this freehand tattoos, but I try something new in every project and I can always paint over it in skin tone if it becomes too overwhelming. I'm using Reaper's Highland Moss & Pale Lichen for the cloak. After taking Rhonda Bender's "Level Up" class at ReaperCon, I've decided to experiment with more interesting shadow colors in my minis. In the past, I would have chosen a dark olive green for the shadows of the cloak, however, this time I've mixed the mid tone Highland Moss with a touch of Nightshade Purple for the darkest folds and recesses of her cloak. After that, I started to layer in more of the midtone color mixed with Pale Lichen (~50//50 mix). I blend as I go and make my way up to Pale Lichen on the highlights of the folds. While I may go up an additional level of highlight, mixing in some Pure White with Pale Lichen, I'll see how much contrast I have on other sections of the mini once she's almost done. Either way, the back of the cloak could use some additional smooth blending, so I'll be sure to revisit that at a later time. Here's what I've painted so far, each step follows each set of images starting from top to bottom. Step 1: Basecoats & shadows for cloak, hair and gems Step 2: Cloak highlights. Repeat steps 1 & 2 on front loincloth-cloak thingy. Blend, blend, blend... Step 3: Hair highlights (more to come), fur, gems, jewelry & starting on the sword Next up is finishing her sword, then boots, gloves and shield. And then maybe I'll consider giving her some dirt on the bottom of her cloak as a final touch (if I can bring myself to smear pigment over something I've painstakingly blended lol) However, I'm having a hard time deciding where to place her eyes since her hair covers a portion of each eyeball, which makes it especially tricky. I'll need to make sure to leave enough white sclera in each eye to make the direction clear. I'm leaning toward painting her looking left, toward her sword, like she's threatening someone or pointing at something on the ground. What do you think?

    An Angry Warrior

I actually have no idea where this guy came from, which might explain his attitude. That and I painted him in a hurry... I imagine him picking his way through the mossy scree to get even with me for my messy paint job. ;-) Anyone know how I could find the source of this mini? I probably bought him a decade ago or more.
  7. Okay, here we go. I have this lovely Warpwolf Stalker, which I painted a while ago. I have, since I leveled up a bit, revisited the stalker. Here is the original picture: Here is the current front view (and other views) I'm really happy with the extension of what I have done with him, and I'm much happier with the figure as a whole. Any C&C is welcome, but I think I improved significantly from the initial painting to the reworking I've done on this one. C&C is welcome on this one.

    The Pirate

Another Games Workshop mini (at this point you should probably assume anything I paint is from there unless stated otherwise), a former Dark Elf Fleetmaster (I'm not sure what his new, fancy Age of Sigmar name is). This guy was a serious pain in the bum to paint, even with my tiny brushes I was forever getting paint on the wrong bits, in hindsight I probably should have realized fully assembling him first was a big mistake. But I persevered and I don't think the final results are too bad! As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.
  9. Jaws

    Imperial Guard, Officer, GW

Finished this guy the other day. I am happy with how the face turned out.:
  10. Werewolvians

    77282 Vampire

I painted up Drac on Halloween because why wouldn't I? I actually started painting him last Halloween and shelved him for a year.

    The Barbarian

Unsurprisingly, another Games Workshop mini. This time it's the mighty Barbarian Hero Class Character from their Silver Tower board game. Had a lot of fun painting this guy up, it certainly made a change from all the heavily armoured dudes I've been working on lately, and I think the finished mini is one of my best to date. Also got a chance to try out some of my new grass tufts, I'm in love with the Sandy Tuft so expect to see those little suckers on everything. As always, and comments or criticisms are warmly received.
  12. Picked this up on E-Bay because she fits an NPC in my game. Photography is not one of my strong points. I did her base with static grass and a skull on the ground in front of her (not in the pic). I thought the skin came out nice.
  13. So I saw Janan and saw this in my head. I bought the piece and modded it to fit as you can see here. I have conferred with Ub3r about it a bit and I still can not find what I'm looking for. Attitude: Contemplation after a long battle and/or about to step into the final battle. She is tired but not worn out. She is resolute to see this to the end but deep down wishes it would have never come to pass. Artistic Direction: In the last two photo's you will see some lighting coming from the right side of the image (One closer than the other). The idea is to to have OSL in the photo. The shadows cast will also be painted. The metal piece you see in the lower three is a place holder (obviously). I can't seem to focus the image in my head to figure out who or what is standing there I bought slain miniature from Other World miniatures and didn't like how big they are on the Vignette base I was thinking of using Derek the Dim from Red-Box-Games. The pose and face of the miniature kind of has that, "I challenge you" appearance. I bought the Paladin Initiate and he was huge and didn't fit very well. The War Maiden did not either. I also thought, if I could find another figure that is standing at the bottom who fought with her in the battle. They too are tired yet contemplative about the end of the battle. My original thought was someone leaning on a weapon. Would like some help on this from my fellow Formnite and see what you think. I have not found a miniature that fits yet and goes with the scale of Janan. Janan seems to be a much much smaller miniature than normal. like a true 25mm (bottom of feet to eye) size. That is why I am looking at RBG miniatures as Tre Manor sculpts in small portions, hands, eyes and feet. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Thanks for stopping by. Y'all's insight would be awesome. Pictures speak a thousand more words than words.

    Dynamic Tiriel, Hasslefree Miniatures

This is the figure Dynamic Tiriel from Hasslefree Miniatures. I grabbed this and gave it a quick paint job as I needed a “win†after my struggles with Narthrax (http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/69994-narthrax-reaper-bones/). Since she’s mostly metal it didn’t take long to paint her up.

    02946 Neroli Female Half Orc

So I thought rationally and decided to use rosy flesh (what I usually use for human females) and mint green (which I would probably use for a female Orc) and mixed them together for her skin tone. I had no idea how to glue that shield on. Anyone who has this mini probably knows what I mean.
  16. This is Dragoth the Defiler and his throne, towered by an Undead Zombie Dragon. He will lead my army in Age of Sigmar. :) Magnetized, so he can change between ruling on his throne, and slaughter from his mount. ^^

    Garrick the Bold: 77008 (x2)

Garrick the Bold: 77008 Sculpted by Bobby Jackson For the Sir Forscale Contest I decided to take a try at this with two miniatures. Hope you like them. 1. Green and White Striped. Standard Metal Plate Armor _________________________________________________________________________ 2. Purple and Black: Black armor with Silver and white highlights. *These are both done with Metallic paints for the metals. Sir Forscale Contest entry page Accepted

Dagmar of the Shield of Red Box Games. A miniature I painted a few months ago but forgot to post.

    The Knight of the Storm

Presenting the Knight of the Storm. After encountering the legendary Knight of Skulls, he was inspired to abandon his original knightly order, who had become little more than the attack dogs of the corrupt Galactic Nobles, and set out on his own. Eventually he banded together with other, like-minded, knights to form The Brotherhood of Bones, a beacon of hope in an otherwise cold and uncaring universe. Yep, it's another Space Marine, this time it's one of the heroes from the Deathwatch: Overkill boxset. Didn't want to use the official Deathwatch colour scheme (a very boring mostly black with a silver left arm), so I'm making it up as I go again. As always, any comments or criticisms are greatly appreciated.

Ral Partha Hyborean Age Female Thief

So after working lots on Ral Partha Chaos Wars drwarves, here is something a little bit different. Still very old school, from an old Partha line, Royal Armies of the Hyborean Age, a female thief, really simple sculpt from Dennis Mize, a front and back angle, nice figure, sculpted it looks like in 1979. Enjoy!
  21. Had lots of fun painting this, was supposed to be NMM gold practice for a future project. Any comments and critiques would greatly appreciated.

    03419: Vaeloth, Hellborn Paladin

Hi guys, first mini after a 6 month lay off. Just saw the X-men and decided to give my take on Nightcrawler. Any comments to help me improve would be much appreciated.
  23. This is Ingrid, the female viking from Reaper Miniatures. I bought one years ago which after sitting unpainted for to long I finally sold last year. But this year I had a change of heart and had to buy a new one. And now she's finished. Rather pleased with the result, especially with her leather "neck guard". I had some ideas for a symbol on her shield but I didn't dare to try any of them out. So I left it plain for now.

    60175 Oloch, Iconic Warpriest

The pathfinder rendition of this guy has his armor all metal. Eh, I wanted more color. I could add him to my Cult of Kirk if I so choose.
