89030 Hellknight Order of the Nail

Go easy on me. I wasn't really going for nmm. I just wanted black armor that looked different.

    Lion Man: 02880

02880: Lion Man THE WIP: 02880: Lion Man Brothers Of Tooth And Claw Sige -------- Barton -------- Pa'oul -------- Dagmar Dust of the Colosseum – Part 4 The captain of the guard stopped in front of the entrance, “The time has come to fight again Barton,†glancing up from his chair Barton nods and replies, “Yes I know.†In the corner of the room sat an elder lion, Barton’s great uncle. After staring down the captain as he left the elder lion grumbled at Barton, “Do you? Because you seem to wait. Are you a scared cub again?†Withdrawing a stone from his blade and standing up barton replied, “Quiet you old fool,†howling the elder lion chimes in return, “Ahrrrr, in my day we use to rush to the battle.†Barton replies, “Yes and in your day you use to eat cubs and your generation died in the millions.†Satisfied that he silenced the old lion, the elder lion quickly fired back with a prideful grin, “True, but we were known as the most terrifying enemy in the land. Not even the king would dare challenge our people, NOW look at us, you’re his pet.†Continuing on his diatribe the elder lion walks over to Barton, placing a hand on his shoulder, “Why do you fight for this king? He is just using you.†Strapping his freshly sharpened sword to his hip Barton replies, “Because the money’s good and if I fight, he will kill our people last…†Silently they both acknowledged the horror that rest in front of their people. “…Barton, may the prophets guide you†__________________________________________________________________ [This guy got 3rd place in a small reaper forums painting contest. I'm very proud. :) ]

    My first attempt at NMM.

Boldverk the Bold, Red Box Games

Boldverk the Bold from Red Box Games. I struggled to get good photos and eventually had to settle for these. Lately I’ve been trying to move away from my mandatory use of black lining. A strange thing is that I noticed today that a part of the face had been smudged with sealer. I'm trying to restore it but I sadly I think it's a lost cause. On the bright side it's a good excuse to buy another RGB mini :)

    77042: Orc Marauder (2)

For the last 3-4/4 for the Feb RP Challenge, 2x of the Orc Marauder as seen in the LTPK. Somethin' feels a little off in the finished product but I can't tack down just what yet Better pics will likely come when I get time to setup/use my lightbox.
  6. Hey Guys! It's me again, TheBeardedEagle. I took a lot of your feedback from my last miniature and tried to apply it to this second miniature. This guy had some armor pieces and different styles of metals as well as cloth pieces and jewelry. I had a ton of fun with this guy and again cant wait for the third. I think it is a lot stronger than my first but I feel there is still a lot of room for improvement. Again I would love to hear what you guys think and criticisms are always welcome. Cheers!

    77052 Aina, Female Valkyrie

I speed paint a lot for tabletop, and this was one of those. I've been using tabletop paints as excuses to work on my NMM and I was pretty happy with the blending on the sword. I was okay with how the shield turned out, and I liked the scales on her scale-mail-dress (or whatever it was supposed to be). Less-so with the banding on the... suspenders, I guess? And I totally lost the bands on her upper arm--the texture for them kind of vanished on the lower side of her arm. Not sure if it was just bad luck with the casting of the mold, or if I used too thick paint. (If I have to ask, it's probably the paint!) I think I really need to work on my transitions for highly-detailed areas. I boiled and boiled and boiled and the sword would not straighten. Alas.
  9. I tried to make his sword and eyes glow with mixed results. Overall, he came out better than I expected.

    77060, Bones Dragonman Warrior

So...first of my docket of 4 (other 3 pics coming later) is this little guy I painted up for GMPathfinder for Secret Sophie. I...Don't know why I have an fascination with blue DMM, but hey, I think it worked better than my last experiment with such. I know the dark flocking got TOO dark when I glued it, and I'll need to keep that in mind for future reference. C&C Welcome

    A couple Ral-Parthas

Two more from the shelf of shame! I have no idea which these were...the staff one says "partha" on the bottom but no identifier other wise...I am not terribly proud of this, and as you can see in my tags, the hair was the worst part, the 'slightly bluish' skin a far cry as well.

    Cake Toppers with fantasy weapons

Here is a group of cake toppers that I did. I think the theme this time is fantasy weaponry. None of these brides and grooms decided to use the standard Shotgun or Chainsaws that are so useful to zombie survivors, and instead favored magic bows, spells, bastard swords and shields.
  13. Hasslefree's Gwen (HFH074) for your enjoyment: As always, C & C welcome!
  14. I finished up this lady earlier this week. I was originally intending her to be a bit higher quality, but she was very accident prone so I decided to settle for high tabletop level. High tabletop is where I want most of my minis to fall, so that’s perfectly fine by me. Hopefully my “high tabletop†will increase over time, but this is a good example of what it means to me at the moment. There are some spots I’m proud of (skin and brown), and others I got frustrated with and moved on (armor and blue). I did a teensy bit of TMM on her swords. Actually, her dagger was a victim of my her clumsiness and the “mid-tone†is polished pewter with no paint at all. Here’s the best closeup of the face I could get. Darksword Miniatures have really tiny eyes, so I was unable to get as much detail in there as I would have liked to. I eventually had to accept that I couldn't do any better after repeated attempts.
  15. I've recently relized that the end of 2014 is fast approaching and I'm nowhere close to completing my second (and most important) painting goal of 2014: that all 2014 purchases must be finished within 2014 (excluding kickstarters). I've spent most of my (recently dwindling) paint time just working through my quickdip pile and really slacking off the metal pile. But as 2014 moves towards its end I really need to pick up the pace. So here's the unarmored Eowyn version by Games Workshop.
  16. Start: http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n14/djizomdjinn/Miniatures/1ox4RKx.jpg~original Current: http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n14/djizomdjinn/Miniatures/IMG_9479.jpg The only real conversion I did was cut a sword off a Reaper weapon pack and glue it in her hand. She looked and felt kind of unbalanced beforehand. Gloss is a result of future floor polish. I didn't prime the mini, so flecks kept chipping off her hair and fins. Things left to do: Paint the sword blade (waiting on some interference paint), dull down and reshade the hair, base on something. Critique, comments greatly appreciated.
  17. So...I'm just a hair late posting this...my painted piece back from the Winter Exchange for Oneboot. I've not done much with demi-metallic metals in the past, so it was quite exploratory for me...also: I never plan to do runes that tiny again without the aid of magnification.
  18. Alright, so this will be the last post I make for a bit, I think. I just got my new minis in, so that should be occupying my time for awhile. I did this sucker two days ago (picked him up from my local comic shop.) He's my 4th ever attempt at painting a mini and my second Bones figure. I think I will eventually go back in and touch up the swords, but I'm quite pleased with him overall.

    [60144] Ulf Gormundr, Reaper Miniatures

My quickest turnaround from purchase to finished yet! Recieved the order this monday and completed it yesterday. I've painted this up as the miniature for a friends character in an upcoming DnD campaign. Quite pleased with the result and I kind of want to create a character of my own and use this to represent him...

    03484, Karlov Diedrich the wizard

In preparation for this season's challenge, here are some pictures of the entry I'm working on. 03484 Karlov Diedrich the wizard was sculpted by Bob Ridolfi. From what I understand, we don't need / we can't use the image we choose as a background for our entry. I just couldn't resist making a little arrengement. I still need to work on the base and create an adequate environement for my presentation. Comments and toughts are very welcome.

    Mousling Knight (part of 03542)

This is the Knight from 03542: Mouslings: Bard Thief Knight sculpted by Gene Van Horne. Just a gorgeous little mouse. He has not tail - possibly a battle injury or possibly amputation is a right of passage for mousling knights. My first attempt at fur - I have a way to go but I am not displeased by this attempt. Having the green of the acorn the same green as the grass was not the best idea - as it looks like the haft of the sword is spotted with grass rather than bound in the same colours as the shield. Lovely sculpt.

A few BONES more plus: SANTA

Just wanted to share my holiday take on Barnabus Frost... and a few other BONES I've painted.

    14021: Shad, Mercenaries Rogue

Here is another tabletop-bound mini. He is my Varisian Half-Sylph Grifter/Ninja character for the Pathfinder (I use the term loosely) game we run. He is in the process of trying to find a cure for vampirism after being bitten by an elder vampire lord and coming back as a partially turned vampire. Whoa. Anyway, the idea is tabletop quality, so I didn't kill myself too much on all the buckles. However, I'd like to point out that I used a tip I learned on these very forums to do the studded armor. I used a toothpick! It works great... Without further ado... Lord Cirrus Valens, Fey-Friend
  25. I am not 100% sure if this has been covered before or not, so apologies if this is a repost. Anyway, my storm giant is such a great sculpt, all except for his sword. No amount of boil/freeze action keeps it from really making me want to resort to bad viagra jokes. I'd imagine some kind of modding would help? I think the terms in use are pinning and drilling? anyway, I've never pinned anything before and I don't really want to start without seeking some advice. Anyone willing to impart some hard-won wisdom?
