    77218 Woody Stumpwimple, Halfling Ranger

How is he going to shoot that bow with a sword in his hand?
  3. Another one from Mortal Arrow. He was fun.
  4. So stripping figures and cleaned up this lovely NOT Alias looking mini... The item at her feet in the 1st 2 pics are her sword and right hand. Markings on base are Ral Partha 1997. After looking in my '97, and winter 98/99 catalogs, nada. Looking through Lost Minis wiki, nada... Help! Thanks! George
  5. Werewolvians

    77219 Grundor Hoardtaker

I'm planning on using this guy as a douche bag reoccurring villain in my Stormbringer Campaign. He looks so douchy with that beard, but he painted up nicely.
  6. Werewolvians

    77199 Thund Bloodwrack, Barbarian

He must have found that sword. Resourceful!
  7. Werewolvians

    77134 Hijad Pirate

At first glance it looks like this guy is carrying a boom box.
  8. Yes, it's a little late, but here is the group paint figure from my box in round 2 of the Box of Goodwill. In no particular order; these are the talented folks who worked on her: Mad Jack Flamehawke David Brawley Thes Hunter RGTriplec Kay13 KangarooRex Jasper the 2nd Thankfully, all they left me to do was try and not wreck all of the good work that they did. Oh, and the dragon's EYE. Which is why it took me so long to get it finished. I also added some grass to the base. Great job, everyone!
  9. This lady is going to be a part of different skirmish game warbands. Mainly Necromunda and Mordheim. The little mushrooms/plants on the base are made of dried grape wines.

    Two very old Kobolds

I've had these for many, many years. I am pretty sure they are reaper minis, but I can not find any reference to these particular kobolds when I search. They are very small, here is a scale pic next to a genestealer:

Hey there Reaper pips! Just finished painting a dual wielding rouge/thief. Critiques to help me improve are most welcome. Thanks in advance.

    77059: Orc Beserker

I realized I never posted the finished mini in show-off. The WIP started all the way back here and the mini was done in June. It got sealed in-between posting.

    14016: Judas, Necropolis Warlord

My second attempt at doing NMM. Hope you all like it. Please give as honest a criticism as possible for me to improve. Dont worry it is not possible to hurt my feelings, so fire away. Thankyou!

    The Messenger of Courage

The second of my four Messengers from Kingdom Death is all painted up:- Her WIP thread can be found here. Very pleased with this one (she looks a bit better in hand than the photos indicate!) As always, any comments and criticisms, are greatly appreciated.
  15. Making a start to part 2 of my saga, with the Messenger of Courage:- Just assembled and primed at the moment. Didn't like the sculpted ground effect on her fancy base insert, so I smooshed some Pumice Putty between the faces, should look a bit better when painted.

The Messenger of the Spiral Path

The first finished mini from my big pile of Kingdom Death: Monster stuff (and I don't even have most of it yet!), The Messenger of the Spiral Path:- Grrr... Capes, my old enemy returns! Apart from that though, I'm rather pleased with him, think he looks pretty good. You can find his WIP thread here. Any comments and criticisms are, as always, warmly received.
  17. This is the first step on my epic journey to paint up my entire Kingdom Death: Monster set (and hopefully many, many as yet unmade future expansions), I'm starting with the Messenger of the Spiral Path:- I've left him fairly unassembled because there's quite a bit that will be inaccessible after his cape is fully attached (and his left arm won't fit properly with the cape off). So the current plan is to paint him from the waist down, his back, his right arm and the inside of his cape, then finish assembly, then finish painting him. I'm kinda making a lot more work for myself as most of this won't even be visible on the finished mini, but if I leave it, I'll know it's unpainted and it'll nag at me. Made a start on painting:- Hate painting red! So far there's 5 different colours on there (Carnage Red, 1:1 Carnage Red/Blood Red, Blood Red, 1:1 Blood Red/Vallejo Vermilion, Vermilion) and yet the Carnage Red basecoat has barely changed. Not a huge problem as most of this won't be seen, but I'm hoping the outside of the cape (also red) goes a bit better. Gotta try and make more progress tomorrow, as I've signed up to a thing on another forum and he's due to be presented at the end of September.

    77168: Battleguard Golem

So I finally got around to painting my first bones mini! Decided I'd get this guy and paint him up like a battered old warforged, as I just love those tin cans. Can't say the material was much different than metal to paint after I primed him, just the weird sensation of him weighing nothing in my hand. His paint turned out a bit bluer than I'd envisioned, I wanted a hint more green in there for a more turquoise look, but I'm happy with how it turned out. Also my first time trying some OSL, I think I could have gone brighter on the shade, and slightly thinner in places (I was using around a 10:1 mix). I also thought his left arm looked a little barren, so he I gave him an integrated forearm crossbow that I scavenged from a friends bits box. I haven't done anything with the base as I intend to cut him off of it and replace it with a 25mm one, but I have something special in mind for it, and I'm now waiting on a piece for a couple of weeks. So he's done for now and I'm reasonably happy with him.

    14046: Ardynn, Elven Hero

Hello again! Another mini for you all today. I actually painted this guy up a week ago, but never got around to taking some photos, and have since moved on to another project. This guy was somewhat of a rush job, as my girlfriend's wizard had an unfortunate run in with the business end of an ogre's falchion, and lets just say his head and body had a "parting of ways". So she decided to roll up an good old fashioned elven ranger for the next week. So we had to pick out a new mini, order him, prep, base and paint him up in a week. Not the paint scheme I'd have gone with for this mini personally, it feels a little cliche, but hey, not my character. I'm calling this guy table quality and done for now, I'm really not happy with the highlight work on the sword, and the cape ended up a bit more vivid than I'd envisaged (lesson learned, mix in some white next time!). As always tips and comments welcome (especially any advice on fixing that sword...)
  20. First time posting here, but not technically my first mini, I think i threw some paint on half a dozen space marines about 12 years ago, not touched a brush since then. Decided to get back into the hobby with the most recent bones kickstarter, as we play alot of D&D, and thought I'd best have a practice before then. So here is my paladin of St Cuthbert for a friends D&D shackled city campaign, and given the volcanic, dungeon-crawly setting, I wanted to try and go for a darker look for the mini, rather than traditional blingy shining look. I didn't feel confident with my skill trying to paint the glow from the sword on the armor, I was afraid I'd mess it up and ruin the whole mini, so I didn't attempt it. Any tips and advice are more than welcome, I want to try and improve as best I can before this time next year when the bones cometh.
  21. So I bought minis for characters I have in a written rp that has literally zero use for minis. I bought them though, simply because I like to have little representations of my characters. This is one of said characters, and her name is Shana Holt. She is hopelessly in love with a guard captain, who belongs to Rob, called Simone, and she aspires to be noticed by her, to the point of a little bit odd. Janan, of course, is stood on a dragon head, but Shana is no dragon slayer, she's just a city guard - so Drifter helped me out by trimming the dragon head away from her foot, and then she got rebased. She's got a nice genuine pebble there to rest her foot upon, and her sword has resisted my numerous attempts to sort it the hell out and still has a little bend in it, but murgh. And here's a bonus Instagrammed photo. Yar. So her base is a pebble and some green stuff, savaged with the rear end of one of my paintbrushes. Her paints... Oh gawd. Citadel: -Khorne Red -Evil Sunz Scarlet -Bloodletter Glaze -Kislev Flesh -Flayed One Flesh -Runelord Brass -Nuln Oil -Seraphim Sepia -Loren Forest -Elysian Green -Ushabti Bone P3: -Menoth White Highlight -Thamar Black -Bloodtracker Brown -Umbral Umber -Cold Steel

    Dark Sword - Female Paladin

Newest mini ^^ This figure is kinda special for me, as she's going to be my Pathfinder character, hence the slightly odd colours. Being a vampire (hence the purpleish skin) and a Nightblade, she has some odd abilities, like creating weapons and shields from shadow. So, to represent that, I had a go at painting the shield and sword as if they were part real, part shadow. I sanded some of the detail off from the shield to make it (hopefully) more effective I also sanded off all the various crosses from her armour, like on the kneepads, cause... vampire. Didn't make much sense to leave them there

Woldvagner the Elder, Red Box Games

Woldvagner the Elder from Red Box Games. I have stared to delve into my RBG collection. I'm moderately happy with how this figure turned out. I really need to work on the eyes for future RBG miniatures. I feel that something might be missing but I can't put my finger on it.
  24. Hi, This is my first post on this forum. I'm drawn here by the Bones 3 Kickstarter (and it drawn quite a bit of money from my pocket as well ), And so before they arrive in a year's time, I thought I should try out painting a few Bones series figure to practice. I ended up getting some of the fire giants, and out of which I picked the bodyguard to try first. I think I managed a reasonable result so far, but now I have come to the sword itself, and I am a bit stuck. I want to make part of the sword look heated to emphasize the "fire" element, but this sort of special effect is alien to me. I have painted a few model before, mostly Gundam plastic models, and I have painted a Tau Army before, but I rarely paint fantasy miniature, beside 2 dragon models (GW's High Elf Lord on Dragon years ago, and a metal Karamor Guardian Dragon last month), so I am wondering what is the best way to do it. Should I switch to an airbrush to do it? or can this be done by hand? I use mostly GW paint, because they are the easiest paint to acquire near where I live (UK).
