  1. Still don't feel like facing my 'Shelf of Shame' at the moment, so I dug this guy out of my 'Pile of Shame':- The Order variant of the Twilight Knight from Kingdom Death. Between him needing quite a lot of prep work (the casting wasn't particularly good on this one), a paint explosion and general 'life suckiness', I haven't got very far:- His face is done (Vallejo Dwarf Flesh>Flesh Shade Wash>Dwarf Flesh>1:1 Dwarf Flesh/Linen White). I gave his eyes a few tries but they're way too small for me to pupilize, I might colour them in later but I'm liking them white at the moment. I've made a start on his tunic with a basecoat of Sapphire Blue, but I'm having doubts as to whether it's all one piece (the bottom half does look a lot more 'armour platey' compared to the obviously fabric top). There's also something going on under his left arm, so his tunic might actually be a tabbard over a breastplate, but I can't really make it out. So I worked on his funky shield:- But I don't think I'll get a decent picture of it until it's attached. The front of the shield is finished, the face drybrushed in Vallejo Bronze and Vallejo Burnished Gold, with the edges in Vallejo Oily Steel.
  2. Hey there everybody, It's me again, and this time I have Sajan, the monk from Pathfinder. We are using this figure for a monk in our Pathfinder RPG (just not as Sajan). I had a lot of fun painting this miniature and I tried to thin out the paints more when layering colors. I did find that I got smoother blends and overall better results. I did not originally base this miniature, another player was going to paint him but then left it up to me. I wasn't a huge fan of his rock and land placement so I added a bunch of grass to give him a meddowy feel. His face I feel falls short (first non-hooded mini), but since its not a studio piece I thought it was good enough for our table top game. Figured it'd get a good wear anyways from handling. Thanks for looking guys, Look forward to seeing what you all have to say. :) Cheers.
  3. Long time no post. So here I go again. Another party member so another character waiting to be killed. His name is Chval (can be translated as "praise") and he is the witcher from the fire order. These boys call themselves "Hearts of fire". More like "farts on fire" to me. As a character I never liked him, as he was real phoney. He had a horse, while we were walking, he had a sword, while we had only sticks.... But during our last game we kind of find a way to each other....(un)fortunately my character has died, so the friendship was over in an hour :) Hope you will like him more than I did :) And again better res picture over here I need to paint my new character now... Still can't find the proper miniature.
  4. Jaws

    Enigma Zombie

This zombie comes from Enigma miniatures, Zombie horde (5):
  5. Here is the Vampire Queen herself. She has a Magic Sword guarded by her Crow familiar. Her faithful undead servant lights the way. I tried a bit of OSL on the servant, my first try. I don't think it worked out that well, but you gotta try right? The familiar and sword are from Reaper, pack X. The Vampire and Servant are from the Freebooter range, sculpted by Werner Klocke. Sorry about the quality of some pics, still struggling with the camera.
  6. Last year at Reapercon, I took an excellent NMM course taught by the irrepressible Aaron Lovejoy. He had us paint NMM gold on this lady's shield and oh my god was I terrible. This year I picked up another copy so I could try the shield and see how I did. I actually did an okay job on it about four or five months ago but only finished the shield. Three months ago I decided I had progressed in my skill and thought I could improve on it by adding some contrast. NOPE. I couldn't recreate the colors accurately which threw the blend off, at which point I moved on to other things. Well, with the RPChallenge clock ticking down for March, I thought I'd finish her up, and oh man, did I make some bad decisions. But that's okay, now I know not to try doing hair with a ridiculously dark undercoat, among other things.
  7. Needed a (bones and hopefully chip-resistant) mini for a tabletop character I'm playing and this fellow seems to be the ticket. Sure, the skull on his shoulder pad is a little off-putting, but it's not like the rest of him isn't. Threw about three hours at this fellow and was alternately happy and dismayed with how various bits turned out. The base is some Happy Seppuku stamped greenstuff.
  8. Go easy on me. I wasn't really going for nmm. I just wanted black armor that looked different.
  9. Arc 724

    Lion Man: 02880

02880: Lion Man THE WIP: 02880: Lion Man Brothers Of Tooth And Claw Sige -------- Barton -------- Pa'oul -------- Dagmar Dust of the Colosseum – Part 4 The captain of the guard stopped in front of the entrance, “The time has come to fight again Barton,†glancing up from his chair Barton nods and replies, “Yes I know.†In the corner of the room sat an elder lion, Barton’s great uncle. After staring down the captain as he left the elder lion grumbled at Barton, “Do you? Because you seem to wait. Are you a scared cub again?†Withdrawing a stone from his blade and standing up barton replied, “Quiet you old fool,†howling the elder lion chimes in return, “Ahrrrr, in my day we use to rush to the battle.†Barton replies, “Yes and in your day you use to eat cubs and your generation died in the millions.†Satisfied that he silenced the old lion, the elder lion quickly fired back with a prideful grin, “True, but we were known as the most terrifying enemy in the land. Not even the king would dare challenge our people, NOW look at us, you’re his pet.†Continuing on his diatribe the elder lion walks over to Barton, placing a hand on his shoulder, “Why do you fight for this king? He is just using you.†Strapping his freshly sharpened sword to his hip Barton replies, “Because the money’s good and if I fight, he will kill our people last…†Silently they both acknowledged the horror that rest in front of their people. “…Barton, may the prophets guide you†__________________________________________________________________ [This guy got 3rd place in a small reaper forums painting contest. I'm very proud. :) ]
  10. My first attempt at NMM.
  11. For the last 3-4/4 for the Feb RP Challenge, 2x of the Orc Marauder as seen in the LTPK. Somethin' feels a little off in the finished product but I can't tack down just what yet Better pics will likely come when I get time to setup/use my lightbox.
  12. So...this is 1/4 for the FebRPChallenge. I just have quick and dirty cell phone pics for now, until I get my lightbox set up. I painted this with following the schematic outlined in the LTPK.
  13. Boldverk the Bold from Red Box Games. I struggled to get good photos and eventually had to settle for these. Lately I’ve been trying to move away from my mandatory use of black lining. A strange thing is that I noticed today that a part of the face had been smudged with sealer. I'm trying to restore it but I sadly I think it's a lost cause. On the bright side it's a good excuse to buy another RGB mini :)
  14. Hey Guys! It's me again, TheBeardedEagle. I took a lot of your feedback from my last miniature and tried to apply it to this second miniature. This guy had some armor pieces and different styles of metals as well as cloth pieces and jewelry. I had a ton of fun with this guy and again cant wait for the third. I think it is a lot stronger than my first but I feel there is still a lot of room for improvement. Again I would love to hear what you guys think and criticisms are always welcome. Cheers!
  15. Big fan of werewolves. Hope you enjoy.
  16. I tried to make his sword and eyes glow with mixed results. Overall, he came out better than I expected.
  17. I speed paint a lot for tabletop, and this was one of those. I've been using tabletop paints as excuses to work on my NMM and I was pretty happy with the blending on the sword. I was okay with how the shield turned out, and I liked the scales on her scale-mail-dress (or whatever it was supposed to be). Less-so with the banding on the... suspenders, I guess? And I totally lost the bands on her upper arm--the texture for them kind of vanished on the lower side of her arm. Not sure if it was just bad luck with the casting of the mold, or if I used too thick paint. (If I have to ask, it's probably the paint!) I think I really need to work on my transitions for highly-detailed areas. I boiled and boiled and boiled and the sword would not straighten. Alas.
  18. Two more from the shelf of shame! I have no idea which these were...the staff one says "partha" on the bottom but no identifier other wise...I am not terribly proud of this, and as you can see in my tags, the hair was the worst part, the 'slightly bluish' skin a far cry as well.
  19. So...first of my docket of 4 (other 3 pics coming later) is this little guy I painted up for GMPathfinder for Secret Sophie. I...Don't know why I have an fascination with blue DMM, but hey, I think it worked better than my last experiment with such. I know the dark flocking got TOO dark when I glued it, and I'll need to keep that in mind for future reference. C&C Welcome
  20. Hasslefree's Gwen (HFH074) for your enjoyment: As always, C & C welcome!
  21. Here is a group of cake toppers that I did. I think the theme this time is fantasy weaponry. None of these brides and grooms decided to use the standard Shotgun or Chainsaws that are so useful to zombie survivors, and instead favored magic bows, spells, bastard swords and shields.
  22. I finished up this lady earlier this week. I was originally intending her to be a bit higher quality, but she was very accident prone so I decided to settle for high tabletop level. High tabletop is where I want most of my minis to fall, so that’s perfectly fine by me. Hopefully my “high tabletop†will increase over time, but this is a good example of what it means to me at the moment. There are some spots I’m proud of (skin and brown), and others I got frustrated with and moved on (armor and blue). I did a teensy bit of TMM on her swords. Actually, her dagger was a victim of my her clumsiness and the “mid-tone†is polished pewter with no paint at all. Here’s the best closeup of the face I could get. Darksword Miniatures have really tiny eyes, so I was unable to get as much detail in there as I would have liked to. I eventually had to accept that I couldn't do any better after repeated attempts.
  23. I've recently relized that the end of 2014 is fast approaching and I'm nowhere close to completing my second (and most important) painting goal of 2014: that all 2014 purchases must be finished within 2014 (excluding kickstarters). I've spent most of my (recently dwindling) paint time just working through my quickdip pile and really slacking off the metal pile. But as 2014 moves towards its end I really need to pick up the pace. So here's the unarmored Eowyn version by Games Workshop.
  24. So...I'm just a hair late posting this...my painted piece back from the Winter Exchange for Oneboot. I've not done much with demi-metallic metals in the past, so it was quite exploratory for me...also: I never plan to do runes that tiny again without the aid of magnification.
  25. Start: http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n14/djizomdjinn/Miniatures/1ox4RKx.jpg~original Current: http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n14/djizomdjinn/Miniatures/IMG_9479.jpg The only real conversion I did was cut a sword off a Reaper weapon pack and glue it in her hand. She looked and felt kind of unbalanced beforehand. Gloss is a result of future floor polish. I didn't prime the mini, so flecks kept chipping off her hair and fins. Things left to do: Paint the sword blade (waiting on some interference paint), dull down and reshade the hair, base on something. Critique, comments greatly appreciated.
