When I got back into the Hobby some years ago, I decided I would need a Projekt for the General Motivation. So I was looking for something playable with diverse miniatures, a small amount of Minis nieder and a Design to which Incould easily add various other Elements. Soon I found the game of The drowned earth. My strategy was to build a full table of Terrain before buying Minis. This way it should be easy to motivate myself for getting the minis done afterwards. When trying tl find out more about the options of terrain building I became fascinated by the possibilities of mdf buildings. Searching for a terrain fitting to the three dimensional movements of The drowned earth I decided that the Venice line of ttcombat is a perfect match. Then buildings were designed to be played with carnevale. A game with very fast movements, a lot of climbing, jumping and of course water. Some guys Look like Assassins from a popular game. This makes the perfect baseline for a drowned earth table. I will give Photos and ideal of different parts of the Projekt and share some more ideas. And I will be grateful for more Tipps and ideas for the Projekt.

I knocked out some random pieces of scenery last night. Everything was washes and dry brushing. I hope you like them. First up is a heavily damaged Jersey barrier made by Secret Weapon miniatures. Next are 2 grave stones from craft store Halloween village sets. The one on the left I repainted then did washing and drybrushing. The one on the right i intentionally did a sloppy job of painting so that some of the original colors were still visible, then i weathered it like the other one. I'm not sure where I got this table from, but it looked like it would be pretty quick to spruce up, so I did. Let me know what you think, please.

I'm making my own gaming table Here is the rough design: 6ft X 4ft. In the car park next door to work I saw and purchased 3x hemlock slabs (8ft by 2 ft, 1 1/2' thick) at $40 CAD each & 1 cracked 1 at $15. Enough wood to build the lid. I had access to a full work shop so we started cutting! Using the track saw, table saw, thickness plainer & joiner we cut 7 boards 7 1/8' wide and just over 6ft long, 2 of them having live edges. Some of the wood had a little rot so we sanded that out and plan to fill with epoxy. The wood being a little wet still I decided to throw it in the kiln and dry it out to lighten the lid up. I then bought 2 slabs 8ft by 2ft 3' thick at $50 CAD but one snapped in half vertically! Making it around 10' wide and I grabbed the 2 halves for a discounted $15 each. Little does he know that's perfect as I only need them 8' for the sides of the gaming table face. I will edit and update when I'm on a laptop, feel free to ask me any questions. Update: New design after we cut the wood. I also purchased the legs (fur). The base of the table will be one sided finished ply (nice side on bottom) and I will either do a red, green, grey or purple felt on the play area. Any suggestions?

I saw these at Gencon; a little heavy, but I like the storability.

I finished up the table and benches from Bones 2 the other day. Still playing with camera settings to try to get good pictures; the first one is closer to the actual color, the second one isn't as dark. Let me know what you think.

Yay for more drybrushing, woo.... Nothing special, just a table and benches, but these little pieces were fun to paint up, and at least they look decent on the table. The benches have a tendency to tip over, though, so I may have to stick them on half a base each or something. Thank you to Talespinner for sculpting such nice deep wood grain; it made drybrushing delightful! Pictures! (I found my backgrounds, yay!) And a group shot for fun! ...I really need to paint Sir Forscale. This really has me interested. I always want a table that I can work with, and a 4x6 portable table is an awesome idea. My only concern with the table is that it is made with mdf, but the idea is solid and I think. If it's glossy mdf, it could be sealed (I asked to make sure, will reply in this thread if the answer is yes). I painted up the bookshelf (77318) and table and benches (77319) to go in my cottage. (WIP here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/68003-cottage-wip/ ) The table and benches were super simple and I just used the same colors to do the wood as I used to do the floor and roof timbers on the cottage. The bookshelf is a bit wonky but hey, maybe the wood was warped. I wanted colorful books that looked well cared for. I love reading and have shelves full of books myself! I included a few of my favorites in this bookshelf. A few were hard to photograph as I did the covers on a few of the books that presented covers, I included a close up picture of one of the spines that I detailed.

Hello everybody. While I am waiting (and waiting... and waiting) for my minis for the Here be Dragons! Diorama, I started working on my Infinity minis. Now, the idea is to get back into gaming, and also to pull back into the hobby my wife, my brother and my best friend. I started working on the minis, but then got caught up with making a nice looking table. I got inspired by the internet, but a lot by Dadcube's recent thread (here!). Scratchbuilding terrain (and stuff, in general) has always been a passion for me. I cannot match the great paintjobs out there, but I can build nice looking stuff that looks great, because it is original and one-of-a-kind :) After some weeks working on it, I thought I would share. Perhaps this can inspire some of you, and feel free to also share ideas and tips. All pics are from my cellphone and under yellow, household light. Sorry :/ Another note: I work with centimeters. If you need to do a conversion, think that an inch is about 2.5cm So 25cm = 10 inches, and 1 meter = 100 cm = 40 inches (I know this is off and only for you to get rough measures). We started thinking about a 1.2x1.2m board. This board would be made out of 16 30x30cm pieces that could be arranged in different dispositions. These will include streets, modelled in the middle of the pieces. This is a sketch I made on a little piece of paper to share with my friend over the phone: The "theme" of the board will be futuristic-clean-oriental. If you are familiar with the Infinity background, we are thinking about making this with touches of YuJing, sorta like a merge of ultra-modern Japan and touches of cultural China. We will see where this takes us... The board: Being in Argentina we don't have a lot of materials available; or at least no big stores like Michaels, or hobby stores. This means we have to use our creativity to find stuff that works! That being said, my friend works in design so he is familiar with a lot of materials and techniques. He suggested a certain foam type that is dense... upon inspection I believe this is very similar if not the same that is used in the US for insulation. It is called "Polifan" foam here, and is used to carve out letter for signs, 3D logos, etc. I got a 60x100cm board for about 10USD. The minimum thickness is 2cm. We cut the 16 squares out of this foam board. We also got some plasticard for later detailing (probably the most expensive thing yet). I also got a big plank of "grey cardboard" as it is called here; it is the kind of stuff architecture students use here for their scale models. Cardboard plus some supplies (white glue, craft paints and clear acetate sheets*) can be seen here: * the clear sheets, intended for windows and stuff, is actually a pack of "clear plastic A4 covers" that was laying around the office; they used it as a clear cover when spiral-binding reports. I don't think they will miss one pack, plus they haven't bound reports in a lot time with PDFs now). (next post with more!)
