Ok, so with the Ogre nearing completion I've decided for my next magic trick I'll turn my attention to my limited edition Ral Partha Takhisis. But, I don't like Takhisis. So I'm painting this as Tiamat. The head order is different between the two, but I'm going to paint the colored heads same as given for Takhisis. Basically all I'm doing is painting her black parts red, except for the black dragon head. Now, usually I start a WIP thread at the beginning, but this one was already under way before I started WIPing around here. So instead I'm going to post pics of my progress, run you through what I did and what I have to fix, and then document the (possibly very slow) attempt to bring this Dragon Goddess to full frightful fruition. I wasn't going to document this, but since I'm not the only one with a Takky to wrassle then I decided I should. Problems I run into, and especially mistakes I will make, may save somebody else a pile of hardship when they go to do theirs. Make no mistake, this kit is as evil as she is beautiful. Also, normally when I do a WIP thread I don't ask for advice. That doesn't apply here - here I'm tackling something quite a bit more challenging than the usual fare. If you've got something to say, I'm all ears. I'm going to divide the pics over multiple posts so I'm not just creating one giant wall of text. So first here's a picture of the work done so far, minus her heads: (Ogre for scale): I didn't want to assemble this much before starting to paint, but with this beast I didn't see a way around that. The fit is atrociously bad. Mine is Takhisis Local 2406 out of 5000, which is middle of the run. If you have an earlier number, it may be better. If later, especially in the late 4000's? May god have mercy on your soul.

So with my obsession with My Dark Lady, I have painted up the old Ral Partha Takhisis mini from the Dragonlance Villains box. But since I had previously painted up the DSM version as the human version of her avatar, I was at a loss as to what I should do when I fell into an old Ral Partha mini from Evilbay cheap... Well, She is a Deity, so why should Her Avatar be limited to human? And as my avatar is a Drow.... So I give you The Queen of Darkness as a Drow... Not as happy with her as I was with my DSM, but.... After she made her way here from Denmark, and got cleaned up and primed, she has been getting som paint here and there... Decay Black base coat for the skin, followed by MSP Dark elf triad...(incomplete) Eyes were White Sands and Aldebaran Red Bikini with Sunset Purple ***I mean I already painted her Awesomness' Human Avatar, (DSM Barbarian Queen), so I thought that MY people would be fitting for an Avatar of the Queen of Chaos....*** ***I will reserve my judgement until I see what you have done with my other mortal form.....*** ***Yes my Queen! Hi everyone, it's been a while. So, after reading this topic about an unreleased sculpt from Sandra Garrity, I decided I should give it a try. Starting with the metal version of the Hydra, I dug the boneyard in search for replacement heads and wings. After some trial and multiple orders, I chose the following heads; Ebonwrath's head and neck for the Black Dragon head, Blight Fang's head for the Green Dragon head, Diabolus's head for the Red Dragon, Stormwing's head for the Blue Dragon and the Karamor's head for the White Dragon head. The new heads don't fit the Hydra at all, they have to be rectified along with the Hydra's necks. I thought of using Deathsleet's head for the White Dragon head but its head is attached to the body part and it is sold at $38... I also tried the Dragon of fire head and neck for the Red Dragon, but they were too small. Finally, I chose the Dragon of fire wings since they were the right scale to match the Hydra's body. Here's my progress so far. They say that when you cut the head of an Hydra, another will grow.
