It is never a good idea to play a alternate history video game when you own a 3d printer and love history. My first mini off the the printer is the T95 tank destroyer It was an American prototype. This is in 1/100 scale and it is big for that scale. It will need to be cured tomorrow and cleaned up for assembly. Here it is mock assembled next to a Flames of war 76mm Sherman. Currently working on tiger 2, 105 Pershing and E-100 Turrets. The hulls will come after that. Now to find a good looking Maus Stl .

I finally finished some of the WWII German tanks that I have in the stash. These are a bit on the unusual side even for the Germans. The 21st Panzer Division was part of the German’s D-Day defenses but had not really been properly equipped. Major Alfred Becker converted Obsolete French tanks and carriers to help equip the Division. These are from Mad Bob Miniatures, they are all resin and only require a bit of assembly. The resin is a bit on the soft side and the longer gun had to be straightened. The castings are a bit rough as well but since they are gaming pieces I didn’t take the time to smooth things out, just normal prep. I would have liked something a bit more detailed but, for the price and the amount of use they will see, they are about perfect. , Here are the ones I have completed so far: Starting off with the mSPW S307(f) with a Pak 40 ATG Then 3 self propelled artillery pieces, SdKfz 135/1 “Lorraine Schlepper” These are relatively small vehicles so they don’t need a lot of storage room. Since they are open topped they will be getting a few crew figures at some point as well. The 135/1 should have a blade in the back to absorb recoil when the gun is fired. I’m still considering scratch building these because they seem a bit incomplete right now.

A toy tank from Goodwill, and Todd the Tanker Gnome, a repainted Garden Fairy figurine combine in the first of the Garden Defense Force. Ready to roll out of the assembly area and begin testing. About this model: The 1/60 Despot was designed and built by John Bear Ross, under license from Reaper, back around 2003 in a limited run. I don't remember the exact number but I want to say there were only 100 made. It is a combination of resin and metal parts and requires quite a bit of assembly before I can start painting. The tank treads look to be the most difficult part. Before anything more, I want to say that Mike Hardy (aka Black Lightning 2 back in the day) is awesome! I couldn't afford to buy one of these limited edition models when they were released, but several years ago Mike needed to clear out some space and contacted me to see if I was interested in buying his Despot. He could have sold it for a lot of money on eBay, but he wanted it to go to someone who'd appreciate it. I jumped at the chance to finally get one of these, but when it arrived I was simply overwhelmed. I loved assembling CAVs, but this is a lot bigger, and I've never been much of a painter, so it just sat in its box on a shelf... For eight long years... It's time to fix that. I can't get links to my Google Photos account to work here, so I'm just uploading a few pics for now. If anyone knows how to get those working, please let me know. The first pic is of all the parts laid out in their glory. (I took these photos w/my cellphone, which is turning everything yellow under the florescents. Once I actually start painting, I'll break out my camera to get better photos.) Followed by all a closer shot of all the resin pieces, then the metal pieces. I decided to post a WIP on some of the vehicles I currently have on the table. After a few hours with my sons emptying all the bags and building the tanks I selected a reasonable batch to paint up. These were then washed and straightened prior to being given an undercoat of grey primer. The model lines were cleaned up on a few, but given these are for tabletop use I am not too fussy with them as they are not too bad. I continued with the earlier smaller batch of Terran vehicles at the moment I am doing batches of four models. These were painted green, highlighted and then given a dark green wash to add depth prior to a final quick dry brush. And finally with the window glass painted and highlighted. As always comments welcome, not sure yet of the total numbers required for a game for these in CAV but will be using the models.

Recently received my CAV:SO kickstarter rewards. I'm going be painting up some United Terran Federation figs first, because I got the most of that faction. For them I'm going to be going with more traditional military colour schemes. So, for my first Big Stompy Robots, I went with....tanks....Having never done Big Stompy Robots (other than Robotech, which don't count, since they got painted more like the cartoons.) I wanted to start with something more, well, real. Plus, tanks are cool, which is why I got a ton of them. These were very quick to paint up, maybe 4-5 hours total for all 4. This is good, as I'm happy enough with the results and I have a lot more UTF to go through. Turrets are not glued, they have a nice peg and hole, not likely to fall out on their own.

Its been a few days but here is the next batch of my CAV Kickstarter models. These are my Rach tanks, or the first small batch of them anyway. First up are two Despots, I kept the paint scheme the same as the Kraken I painted. This was a limited palette and I am happy with the paint scheme. Next up here is a painted Warden in a similar colour scheme. And finally here are a few photos of the Malefactor, now I really like the shape of this tank. As always comments welcome.

I had to give up on aspirations to do something for my Reven Army or some sort of Frost Wizard for the themed figure. Time ran out. But here were all these little tanks I had not done. I painted one as an experiment last year. There he is on the left: The rest of the squadron is scattered out to the right, sad and paint free. The problem was to remember what I did for the first one. I am a cheerfully experimental painter. I don't do so well at remembering the ingredients in the experiment. (Really should have looked up the previous thread! I had made notes...) But here are four more finished up: I thought I managed to stumble upon the formula again. (But it turns out, now I've found the prior thread, I haven't quite.) The one from last year is the blurry one in the background. That leaves one more to do out of the batch. (It was a pack of six.) The last one will be the first thing for next month's challenge batch.

Well, sort of. My husband went a-prowling for steampunk-themed minis for my birthday earlier this month and found these 15mm armored cars for the game "All Quiet on the Martian Front." They are said to be based on Rolls Royce Spectres, circa. 1910-ish. While assembling them, the theme from "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" kept running through my head. Oh yes, assembly. There were no instructions. Grr. What I had were three baggies, each containing the following pieces (originally the tyres were on sprues): After a while I worked out that the chassis went over the running boards, but its wheel axles slipped under the mud guards and the rear box. This had to be done before the wheels were attached, but fortunately I had only tried to assemble one car to start and the epoxy was still soft. Here are partly assembled cars: After a dry fit, I decided that priming the inside of the car bodies black would save a lot of heartache later. I did not glue down the turrets because I like being able to pose them. Hopefully this will not be too much of a nuisance to paint. And here they are: I find the green paint job on the box cover utilitarian but uninspired. I think I may go down weirder paths.

Hi Folks, David here, DLD Productions. We have launched out KickStarter, "This is WAR!" to take our existing 15mm futuristic/scif resin vehicles, and convert them over to plastic injection. Why? #1. Cost of the materials for plastic injection is SOOoo much less than resin. #2. Mold life is 500,000+ runs for steel, verses 30-50 runs for rubber. #3. Production times will increase 100 fold! 15 second cyclic rate for plastic injection.....resin, (depending on the weather), 5-10 minute...(that includes trimming off the flash and pour buttons, plus any pre-drilling that is required). #4. Weight of plastic is sooo much less than that of resin castings. (thinking....shipping.....carrying the army around.....etc..) #5. No more resin mess, miss-cast parts (wasted money and materials)..... So, there you go....this is something we have wanted to do in the past. We would like very much to see our 15mm line in plastic injection.....AND if this goes well, we will start on the 28mm kits as well.......ooohhh......the Albatross Dropship......in plastic.....yum!
