  1. Here is my tortle monk printed on an inexpensive resin printer.
  2. Cats, Hawks, Dragonborn, Turtles, Warforged and Demons PC 28mm Miniatures. Miniatures kits come with 2 heads, 4 right arms, 4 left arms and 2 tails for the cat. Made by Board Dog Games and Norse Foundry The last kickstarter fulfilled 3 months early. Please check them out and maybe support the project to help it fund! Link Here
  3. Tiny turtles are adorable! Colors inspired by the northern red-bellied turtle.
  4. A client of mine has commissioned me to produce a new line of oriental-themed turtle people, based on box-turtles. I'm pretty excited about this project as I love the subject as well as the challenges that it will present me. We are going to take a modular approach to this, with me creating a fully sculpted shell with arm and leg armatures. This I can then cast in bronze and use to make many different minis. I am also planning on making several heads and casting them to be added to each sculpt. A turtle head is pretty generic with little possible expression, so I should be able to make a few variations and reuse them. I will also be sculpting and casting various oriental weapons, hats, and other accouterments to be added to the sculpts. After all that, I will be making three sculpts to begin with, and we'll see where we take it from there. If it all turns out, you'll likely be seeing all of this on the KS page at some point. Here is the basic concept (this is very rough and I am not very good at drawing; the 3D sculpts will be a lot better): Here is a close up of the basic armature concept: Last night, I began the project by making the armature and underpinning the shell Here is the top view: And the side view: I will be basing the turtle parts on the Eastern Box-turtle: And finally, as I was typing this, the bronze came: Now, I am going to have to figure out how to cut that up into chunks that can fit my crucible. More to come soon. Andy
  5. I haven't seen a lot of posts with this mini (02997, Serris, female fighter-thief), and that is a shame, because she is MAGNIFICENT. Dynamic and bold, with amazing fantasy hair and the build of a wrasslin' goddess. She's a big girl, too--even hunched over, fully 32mm from toe to top. Great value for $4.99. Fighter-thief" is an odd designation, because she looks like a barbarian, in the Red Sonja line (or maybe one of Merida's conquering ancestors). Then again, Conan did a lot of thieving and reaving as well as slaying. She definitely has a Cimmerian torso. Lats for days. Tried to give her a sunburnt-looking partial tan, she being a redhead and all. Let's pit her against some monstrous opponents! My character in "Tomb of Annihilation" was a Tortle barbarian with a macahuitl named Mossback. (He venerated the ancestors, especially Great Ancestor Kawa-Bunga,) So the Spikeshells were a natural fit. I love their alligator-snapping-turtle gestalt. The word 'ornery' was MADE for snapping turtles. (and also the American badger, but I digress) And some more shots of the swamp tortles. They were mostly contrast paints, Snakebite Leather and Gore-Grunta Fur. The green of the algae in their shell cracks is AP Disgusting Slime.
  6. It was getting along for sundown when the turtle moseyed into town. (click for turnaround) Now, round these parts, we don't ask questions about a man's past. But every man's got a past, and sometimes the past got a long shadow. (Special guest appearances by Bombshell's Raferu-san and some modified Troglodytes.) I will glue a grommet top hat to anything, anything. Something about the poncho made me think of old Spaghetti westerns, and things snowballed from there. Hope you enjoy!
  7. Since it's arrival last month, I've been experimenting with my first 3D Printer. Today marked the first finished painted projects that were made on it. Several Giants, designed by Duncan "Shadow" Louca. The Gourdlock, by dutchmogul: One of my favorite finds while randomly searching for STL files, the Dwarf Rock Star, also by dutchmogul. Completing my Frostgrave Bestiaries is an eventual goal...here's a simple crab from Rocket Pig Tortles seem to be the new hotness since their introduction in a charity event tied to "Tomb of Annihilation". These guys are a mix from Fat Dragon and the wonderful DM Workshop The last are a murder of Redcaps, again designed by DM Workshop. I swapped out their weapons to give them some variety.
