Here is a model I wanted to paint for a long time. I decided to give it a twist by adding an artifact on its base. This is an 03655, Iron Cobra sculpted by Andrew Pieper. The Orb is from the 02652, Magic Treasures III and the base is a 40mm wide 74024 base.

For my online business, we cut lots of wood and leave lots of pieces in the scrap bin. Well, we just processed a beautiful seasoned branch of oak and cut it every which way right up to the very last piece, the spot where it was cut from the body of the tree. For some reason I spent a few minutes looking at the piece and decided to bring it with me to clean up. As you can see in the pics it cleaned up but I wasn't sure what to do with it. So, I had just posted an ash burl to my website and suggested in the description making it into a treasure horde for your dragon. And I realized what this piece was... a broken column sitting amongst the dwarven horde lost to a dragon. As you can see below, I painted the middle to look like solid rock. I left it slightly exaggerated so the paint could be seen under the gold and artifacts I was planning to place on it. Next step, add the booty to the piece. Which is going to require making some treasure bits, golden and silvery pieces with a smattering of platinum. The last question is, being a dwarven treasure, would you use coins, bullion nuggets, or both for the piled mass?

This is the second miniature I've ever painted, and the first with Reaper paints. I figured that a brush holder would come in handy for the all the Bones V painting in my future! The only Reaper paints I own are the Bones V paints (Learn to Paint kit and the two collections), plus two bottles of Reaper MSP 9038 Rainy Gray. Overall I'm really pleased with the way this first attempt worked out! I primed everything with 9038 Rainy Gray, then put on the base coats. The wings and ears gave me the most trouble as I had generously overpainted with 9410 Dragon Green, and was attempting a wet blend with 09468 Brilliant Red and 09218 Lava Orange. They required seven or eight coats before I got solid coverage over the green. Once everything was painted and cleaned up, I did a dry brush highlight pass, and then sealed it with two coats of Rust-oleum Crystal Clear Enamel and one coat of Testors Dullcote. I waited 24 hours between each coat to give it plenty of time to dry. I also masked off the gold pile prior to the Dullcote to make sure it would stay shiny. Some things that could have been better: The eyes should have been a different color to make them pop, instead of disappearing in the face. Additionally the right eye is quite muddy and the pupil gets lost amidst all the black veins. I was getting tired of working on Rocky at this point and wanted to get it finished. Ideally the eye would have been repainted. The left eye is better, but still gets lost in all the green. I forgot that my wash darkens the mini, and didn't paint in brighter colors to compensate, which means overall it's quite muted and dark.

Painted up an old mini I've had forever. Pretty much just slapped some GW contrast paints on him, with a few metallics (Vallejo Gunmetal and Chrome), and some Reaper Walnut Brown for the eyes.

This was my second diorama for ReaperCon but was the one not judged. The idea behind it was a Mousling adventuring party finding treasure but also finding that others were already there. I wish I had done more with it, such as adding more elements on the Mousling side and possibly a back drop but I was sadly running out of time and this was the entry that suffered for it.

Sir Guinemar the Righteous takes his loyal pooch Worral with him on all his adventures. Worral is a good companion, a devoted friend and useful for catching rabbits. He wears a jaunty hat with a feather in it because Sir Guinemar discovered that it makes his doggo an absolute babe magnet. After years of searching, Sir Guinemar finally found the legendary lost treasure of Lord Nicholai Brevil, reputedly the wealthiest man in the five kingdoms, in the ruins of Aeckland Castle. After giving a quick prayer of thanks, Sir Guinemar heard a noise somewhere in the dungeon and went to check it out, leaving Worral to guard the hoard of gold, silver and gemstones. That was 30 minutes ago. Worral has just noticed that Sir Guinemar forgot his sword. (Treasure chest by Debris of War; doggo by RBJ Games; sword by Reaper. And if you could find it in your hearts to ignore the fingerprints in the greenstuff flagstones, that would be great.)

Well, just the treasure right now; I'll get around to the candelabra sooner or later. I'm not entirely sold on my distribution of wealth; I think next time I'll paint it all gold and try to pick out coins in other colors instead of starting with silver.

FInished this one today after working off some hints someone gave me and I actually really like it :D

Here is my Marthrangul. She reminded me of a thorny devil lizard so that is the paint scheme I went with. She has accumulated a treasure pile amongst some ruins and made a nest to lay her eggs near her treasure. The treasure is made from glitter, tiny gem colored beads, and bits from the bits box (shield, banner, daggers and swords, etc.) There is a skeleton that has been squashed by some of the falling stones. The eggs are made from greenstuff and display the extent of my sculpting skills. The last photo is pre-nest.

This is called TANITH's AWAKENING. A sideproject from my Lost World Project. It was born due to @knarthex's daughter Alsnia, showing a pic of a cute python with flowers on it's head. Then @Pezler the Polychromatic made up a little story in my Lost World Project. I had already seen a great Serpent Goddess statue in a thread from @Chris Palmer and after some suggestions from @malefactus and @Chaoswolf things really got out of hand. More forumites commented and suggested stuff. Anyway here it is. The Ananconda and the Python are plastic toys. The little snakes are from the GW Bastiladon. The Sugarskulls are from Greenstuffworld and a present from @Erifnogard THX! @knarthex also donated lots of flock and moss. The little bird and the smaller pots are Bones. Alsnia is Bones Sarah the Seeress 77210 The bigger pottery, treasures and vases are Resin pieces from Minimonsters and Ristul's Extraordinary Market. Building was made out of foam. I used some milliput and a Greenstuffworld Aztec Motif Rolling Pin. TANITH is the living statue of the serpent goddess, Alsnia performs the ritual to summon TANITH, and she breaks free from her stone form.

So I decided to at least try to not nitpick something. This is the fastest I have ever painted an item. It took prpbably 30mins - 1hr, mostly due to paint drying before a wash. Paint was determined by "fits purpose and is in reach without seeking". Not my best by far, but it is an achievement for me to NOT nitpick things!

Here we have a collection of treasure markers made by various manufacturers ( I'm pretty sure the boots are Reaper, and I know the bags are ) that I've done up for Frostgrave.

After almost a year of work, I've finally completed this piece. 2 hours each on the adventurers, about an hour each on the terrain pieces, and close to 6 hours on the dragon itself. A lot of different colors used, so I'm not even going to try to mention them all. The terrain is mostly dry brushed, and washes. The dragon has no dry brushing at all though. Hi folks, Decided to take a break from CAVs and make some treasure tokens after seeing a tutorial I on here. Although I cannot find where the original tutorial is now (edit: you can find it here http://http://www.reapermini.com/TheCraft/33). These two took two hours for my fiance and I to make. I'm generally happy with how they came out, although the one lesson that I learned is that you need to make anything that sits with the gold very, very bright. When I painted the gemstones and the weapons I thought at first that they would look too ostentatious, but after adding the gold they kind of get drowned out. I also need to add another layer of dark wash to highlight the difference between the coins. But this was a fun project and I can see myself making more in the future. C&C always welcome!

Another day, another miniature for me to post. This one I was a little unsure of if I should post, but with how nice everyone has been I think I should! This one is the Pirate Sophie miniature, I saw it on Ebay and knew I had to have it! I have tried to make the parrot as realistic as I could, and for the photos I took heed of the advice given by Chaoswolf in the thread about my Wyvern, and have tried to get better light, though it has not been easy with my resources! Anyway here's the pictures, comments and advice are gratefully received!!

I wanted to paint Mary for my oldest stepdaughter, she is into synchronised swimming and I believe part fish. Since she is also a bit of a scrooge I added a bit of treasure. Off to the start, Sculpted a rock with millyput. There will be more to follow.

So In order to participate in the 54mm Challenge. I will start with the Master Series 54mm Pirate Queen, Maria Roseblade. First step, prepping and assembly.

I received Diabolus as a Christmas present four (or was it five?) years ago. I started on him twice with at least one dunk in a simple green bath. He has been puttied, fallen apart, been reglued and pinned, collected dust and cat hair, and generally glared at me from my shelf o' opportunity. With such a history, he just needed to be done. I took a few days off of work last week to recharge my mental gears. He is the primary fruit of that recharge. With a 12 inch wingspan, Diabolus was too wide to use my usual 8"x11" backdrop paper, so I removed it for all but the front shot. A dragon of Diabolus's stature needs a treasure horde, so I made sure his base was teeming with gold, silver, jewels, and other bits. I drew inspiration from various resources, including the Big ol' Pile of Treasure article in The Craft section. A couple of Bones skeletons sacrificed themselves to become bit players in the base. Having an eternal blanket of gold can't be that bad... Comments, questions, and critiques are greatly appreciated!

So, I got this dragon a while back: The only thing I know about it is that it doesn't exist. Even my considerable Google-Fu couldn't turn it up anywhere. I picked it up on Noble Knight Games under the Enigma Miniatures header, and it was produced in the early 90s. I have recently contacted the current Enigma Miniatures to see if they are the same company that produced this mini. She's packaged as a Red Dragon, but with those ears and that nose horn, she more closely resembles a 1e/2e Blue Dragon; so that's where I'm going with her. I've got a bit more filling to do on her, the liquid greenstuff seems to have shrunk a bit since I did my initial gap filling. That's a 120mm base with a Reaper scenic resin Treasure Hoard vignette base and one of the Treasure Packs attached. Since she's a Blue, the sand (and non-treasure parts of the resin base) will be painted as, well, sand. I'm probably going to work on that part first, since the lgs will need curing time.

Its been a work of patience. I didn't remember the treasure pile being quite so large. Anyway, Here is Ral Partha Imperial dragon. Hes just been sitting on my shelf for more than a decade with "I'll paint him later" written all over him. I decided I needed to do some treasure and well this is where he is so far. I am looking for comments/critique on him and any treasure suggestions that anyone would like to put forth. There are chests, sacks of coins, scepters, cloth, mirrors, altars, stones, books, heads and just about everything else and i am pretty tuckered coming up with new color schemes for hoard items. Let me know what you think. next comes the great basing. This will also be interesting. And yes I am trying some new lighting options for taking pictures so commentary on that would be great as well.

So here's the WIP for my summer exchange mini, 03482 Lauren Silver sail, elf pirate. She was primed white, and then washed with Army Painter "Dark" tone to bring out the shadows; this was done as a blacklining step, as well as bringing the white primer down a step. The skin was done with the Rosy Skin triad; shown here is, I believe, Rosy Shadow. This is where my picture taking started breaking down; I painted a lot at Paint Night with friends. Her hair is Auburn Shadow; her skirt is blood red; we're on the mid tone of Rosy Skin, and her eyes are Sapphire Blue... I think. I was ambivalent on the red hair & blue eyes combination, since I'm used to red hair and green eyes together, but my brother pulled up some pictures of Molly Queen (Alexis from Castle) and my troubles were soothed.
