When I got back into the Hobby some years ago, I decided I would need a Projekt for the General Motivation. So I was looking for something playable with diverse miniatures, a small amount of Minis nieder and a Design to which Incould easily add various other Elements. Soon I found the game of The drowned earth. My strategy was to build a full table of Terrain before buying Minis. This way it should be easy to motivate myself for getting the minis done afterwards. When trying tl find out more about the options of terrain building I became fascinated by the possibilities of mdf buildings. Searching for a terrain fitting to the three dimensional movements of The drowned earth I decided that the Venice line of ttcombat is a perfect match. Then buildings were designed to be played with carnevale. A game with very fast movements, a lot of climbing, jumping and of course water. Some guys Look like Assassins from a popular game. This makes the perfect baseline for a drowned earth table. I will give Photos and ideal of different parts of the Projekt and share some more ideas. And I will be grateful for more Tipps and ideas for the Projekt.

I needed a break from my little fellas and painted the next building for the streets of Venice. The Walls were too dark in the beginning. I lighted it up and now I am quite happy with it. This is the Casa Elena from ttcombats Street of Venice.

One of the werewolves from the TTCombat Halflings and Fantasy Friends Kickstarter. He's a fantasy friend, he just wants to hug you! It's a resin model, single piece, and I did a bad job cleaning up the mold lines :P I tried to use some of GSWs bushes, but it didn't really come out the way I wanted. I'll have to tinker some more with that.

10 pint-sized skeletons with eyeballs. Which is a bit strange as all the other soft tissue is long gone. Especially strange since the eyes are usually the first bits to go, eaten by crows (or by fish if you die at sea). Them eyeballs are scrumptious, it would seem. The minis are from the "Halflings and Fantasy Friends" kickstarter TTcombat ran late 2018 and that was delivered some time ago. I have painted ghosts and ghouls from this line earlier. They are all very cartoony and also rather cute. Three little swordsmen ...er, knifemen. Three little pikes. Two have build their holes of straw and of sticks. The third of bricks. And four archers. 10 skeletons in all, from the "RPG pledge level" that basically gave a nice assortment of different types, either 5 or 10 of each. I used a mixture of regular paint and contrast paints on these. As always, they look better when not magnified. Some of the mould lines I simply have not noticed before, and now I see them glaring at me in the pictures. My eyesight is not what it once was. I printed out 20mm bases for the little rascals. Halflings Skeletons TTCombat 2018/2019 Unknown sculptor Resin 20mm bases Should be available from TTCombat in the future. These models were painted the 10th and 11th of April.

Time to get the year started with a little space adventure! It took me about a week of spare time to get this fleet assembled and painted. Space ships are one of the few miniatures i find where less is more and although they look intensely detailed, there really isnt that much to work with. This is an enjoyable game that I wish i had the opportunity to play more often but, time being what it is, i am limited in what i am willing to teach people to do and I get tired of always having to explain the rules. Anyway, the Scourge are a bunch of nasty alien body snatchers who have invaded earth, forcing the remanents of humanity to go hide in the colony worlds to rebuild for the re-invasion of earth. They also have some of the coolest ships! These were done mainly with airbrush work except for some of the lights and engine fire. I started with the badger metal colored primer and then sprayed the front with plasma fluid ghost tint and the back with blue ghost tint winding up with a really wonderful color shift across the minis. The last piece is a leftover Aquan dreadnought from a game called Firestorm Armada I used a slightly different color profile so it would blend with both this game and the original firestorm fleet (okay i have a soft spot for spaceships. I just wish the games would play half as cool as they look!) This is basically a starter fleet consisting of three versions of the Cruiser class and 4 Frigates. That and as I said, the dreadnought for good measure! Thanks for looking!

This is the second of my dropfleet starter sets. The fleet represents the United Colonies of Man (UCM). After humanity was chased off the planet earth and forced to scatter to its colonies to lick their wounds, the colonies united and formed an armada to take back the home planet. These ships are the final gasp of mankind to keep from becoming nests for a truly invasive species. the game itself is a little different from Most because battles are fought in nearspace around planets. The map is a planet viewed from low earth orbit and the ships can move from high to middle and low orbits, each having an effect on the ship speed and who can attack what. The game itself is pretty fast, a starter fleet battle will resolve in about an hour for us on the rare occasions when i get to play and the sides are pretty evenly matched although they have very different play styles. TTcombat took over the license this year and saved the game from fading away and have put quite a bit of effort into new miniatures and rewriting the rules to fix problems and make the dropfleet game compatible with its companion game Dropzone. now you can run a companion game allowing the two games to interact on a limited basis which, i think adds a lot to both sides, if you can find that many players... I decided to takes some liberties with these vessels. i wanted each ship to be distinctive and easy to spot on the game board so the grid pattern built into the armor of the ship, which is usually blacked out, i lined in white and then traced over with various florescent colors from Scale 75. The effect was not quite what I was after but it's still pretty good and certainly usable on the field of battle. The ships are a starter set of 3 crusiers (2 heavy 1 light) and 4 frigates. The base color is black with a midnight blue ghost tint and then highlighted with white and flouresents Hope you enjoy them! I certainly enjoyed painting them!

Hello :) First time posting some of my painted stuff here, but I'd like some feedback. These two are the halfling sorceress and pirate adventurers from TTCombat's Halflings and Fantasy Friends kickstarter. They're my first resin models, and while fragile, they do have amazing detail. They're painted with vallejo paints, I recently got the vallejo nocturna red and skintone sets. They come with very nice guides as well. The sorceress is meant to be holding some sort of floating light source in her hand, so I tried to shade her with that in mind. The pirate has a teeny monkey peeking out behind her feet :D so cute Cheers, Lihmeth

Late last year TTCombat, the wargaming supplies branch of Troll Trader, the large and successful British miniatures shop on Ebay, held a kickstarter campaign called "Halflings and Fantasy Friends". This campaign featured... well, Halflings for the most part (duh!) and also a buch of monsters. All in a cartoony style, in resin and all at suspiciously low prices for a large quantity of minis. As in £60 for over 100 models! In resin! (even though they are halfling sized, that still is insane pricing.) Since TTCombat is well known for making inexpensive but fair-to-good quality stuff (mostly MDF terrain and such up until now) and has Troll Trader behind it, I turned a blind eye to the waving red flag of Too Good To Be True prices and took the chance, going for the RPG pledge and a couple of packs of monsters. The RPG pledge consisted of 10 or 5 each of a number of hafling types and undead halfling types, plus a general and a necromancer mini. And I am happy to say that not only did TTCombat deliver more or less on time (only a shortish delay on this one!), but also the minis are good quality in a resin with a slight flex to it (I suspect it is the same kind that Mantic uses) and that is both easy to work with and quite forgiving if you drop the model. Here are the first ones I have finished, the 10 halfling ghosts: There were three different versions, but the collation was not optimal. I got only 1 of the middle one, 4 and 5 of the other two types. I believe the collation is better in the other unit types I got. No! Boogermen! Stay away from me! I really had no issues with preparing the models for painting, apart from one of the three ghost types having a thick gate going up under the skirt, so to speak. Luckily they came off with a little snipping without damaging the models. I did not need to break out the saw. Lots of vents to snip off, but they did so without any problems. Very little mould lines or bubbles. The worst was actually getting the mould release agent (some kind of silicon) off the minis, a simple scrub-a-dub-dub was not enough for some of the models. This lead to the undercoat being partly rejected on parts of a few of the models. A further coat on the affected areas did the trick though. The minis came with square bases. I used my own 3D printed 20mm rounds instead. The resin they were made of was white and light grey, so I painted these with a black undercoat, so I could see that everything was covered. They I gave them a heavy white zenithal, so they were mostly whiteish. At last I could use that Nighthaunt technical paint ( I wonder if this actually is more or less the same as the new Contrast paints? I do not have any contrast paints so I can't really check.) I gave them all a goodly coat of that, drawing away the larger pooling with a damp brush. When this was dry I thought they were too pale, so I drybrushed them carefully with Reaper Clear Yellow using a flat brush. This gave the much brighter, almost glowing effect I was after. I painted parts of the chains with a bit of Scalecolor Trash Metal to highlight them a bit as translucent metal. Experimenting with different eye colours, I settled on blue-in-blue, as I thought it looked the best to carry across that these are mostly lost souls endlessly looking for their second breakfasts and not really all that evilly wrathful. They are cute little tykes. Albeit in a cartoony style. Halflings Spirits TTCombat 2018/2019 Resin 20mm bases Should become available from TTCombat in the future.
