    14501: Scuttlebones by Siri!

Based him off a Sally Lightfoot Crab. Because I like my undead creatures to be bright and colorful. Makes them all the more tragic Base is originally a Corpse Field base by Secret Weapon from my Bag O' Crap, which I modified into coral reef shallows. I imagine he's rising out of the ocean and scuttling up onto shore. Don't know if it's very noticeable, but I used a thin layer of realistic water over the base and I dripped some into the hole in his shell as if he's still got water in there after coming up out of the waves WIP link: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/56761-14501-scuttlebones-by-siri/
  2. Here is a group of speed painted bones skeletons I painted back in February. I spent maybe 4 hours total on all of them. I am still planning on adding some plant materials to the base. Skeletal Spearmen (77001) Skeletal Archers (77017) Skeletal Swordsmen (77018) All the bones skeletons I have painted so far: And all the skeletons I have ever painted, because I love me some group shots. The ones in front (and back) was painted over 20 years ago, before I started basing. Miniatures from Grenadier, Ral Partha, Rafm and of course Reaper.

    Heresy zombie

This is a Heresy miniatures zombie that I got out of a Box of Goodwill. She's supposed to be a modern zombie, but I think she looks simple enough that I could use her in fantasy, too.

TURN UNDEAD! - A Winter Exchange

As I'm sure most of you do in these exchanges, I end up picking parts of the request to focus on. In this case I went with a winter base and OSL. Generally when we think of OSL we think of a mini painted with a zenithal light source and then the OSL is a secondary light source that colors part of the mini. I decided to do something different though and make the OSL my primary light source. Initially I wasn't going to have any secondary lighting, but that made things a bit boring from certain angles so I added in some moonlight. In the scene below the primary light source is the end of the staff. Anything illuminated by the staff I painted "normally," though with the highlights and shadows were orientated to it and not zenithal. Anything not lit by the staff is lit by desaturated "moonlight." For some reason I had difficulty getting the light balance correct on the photos but it's still pretty close. The mini itself. Here we start with normal colors: But as we get to her back the light desaturates until eventually the light source is blocked. Also, a bit of freehand. And a bit of milliput dust on the black base. It wiped off but I didn't redo the photo shoot. From the side you can see how I tried to put all of the highlights towards the staff with deeper shadows further away. The base. So far the battle has not gone well for the undead. I cut two of them apart so they could be caught in the moment of being blown apart. The inner light is a bit subtler on the armored skeleton. The eyes are so deep that you can only see the brightest parts from a very small angle. Now that I think about it I would have been better off to fill the sockets and freehand the surface. Ah well, for next time. : Here's probably the angles where you can really see the desturated vs lit areas best. And the top view. I don't currently have a way to do a light box for this angle on something this size so it is just sitting out on the table. I think these might have turned out the most color accurate though. I used some crackle medium to make the ice, and didn't realize that it did not adhere very well. My first drybrush took some of it off and I had to put it back in place. One thing I couldn't quite decide on was the cast shadows. Normally I just consider the scene to just end like it has been chopped off, but that leaves a gap of vertical snow in some places. Maybe I should have taken them down to the wooden base... I had initially planned on more freehand, but ran out of time. Thanks for looking.
  5. I haven't been posting much lately. Not sure why. But I finally finished up my Season 1 walkers. Thought I'd break my photo inertia with a group shot of them on a game board. Not my usual photo set up and not as clear as I could have wanted, but here they are.
  6. This was done for a fun competition where you were supposed to recreate an album cover with miniatures. I chose the Army of Darkness Official Soundtrack. It uses the same art as the Movie. :) All I can post here is a WIP, pic. The rest, as well as the final result can be found in the links below, due to nudity.: WIP / photobox images: http://i.imgur.com/nnpwbFv.jpg http://i.imgur.com/9du3P58.jpg http://i.imgur.com/ntIrUGC.jpg Final result. There was no way to fit all nine minis, along with the scenery in my photobox, so the colours / paint suffered a bit in this one, but all in all I am happy with the result.: http://i.imgur.com/WPU1HEI.jpg

    77352: Demi-Lich

Woke up this morning at 4am and couldn't get back to sleep. Decided to spend some time before going off to work painting up the Demi-Lich from Bones II.
  8. I bought this nice Vinyl RESIN kit from Solarwind. Countess Karnstein. It will take a while before I proceed, But I thought..start the WIP to keep the flow going.. Just a few shots of her compared to Reaper's Elise Pumpkin Witch for size comparison, and a shot next to my ( almost finished ) Legendarion Bust. The Countess is a large Bust.
  9. I am going to start a larger competition entry, and thought I'd make this WIP thread to help me keep a red line on the project. The task is to recreate a cover of a book or album. Nothing to post yet, except the cover which will be my inspiration for the entry. I have had it in my mind for a while, and this comp gave me an excuse to begin. Bits have been ordered, and work will commence once they arrive. :) Maybe a little sooner. ^^ As there are some things I can do right away.
  10. This is Reaper's 03681: Nazera Bloodraven, Vampire. I love her sculptural forms. Whichever way she is turned, there is some interesting movement going on. Bobby Jackson did a lovely job sculpting her. I used iridescent interference blues and violets on her armor. I am thinking about discussing how I paint reds. WIP thread here.
  11. Since we're doing some modern stuff right now I thought I'd finish off some of these zombies. There's the Zombies! pack and some guys I think I got from Halloween freebies who are part of the Zombies (3) pack. Also, a skeletal archer who I got with this year's Halloween freebie and wanted to get him out of the way since most of my skeletons are painted. Thanks for reading!
  12. After my exchange mini I wanted to touch work on something less taxing. So I decided to work on a few more Walkers. Also I decided to test out the camera on my new tablet. Not a whole lot of editing options, but I could crop the photos, and I think I got the white balance OK. Here is the group shot: While I finished the highlights on the skin of all 4, I only managed to get this guy's highlights finished. I still plan on putting down some washes to make the shadows darker, and bloody him up. But this is the 1st step in my Zombicide process. I'll see how it looks on my computer in a bit. Edit: I changed to topic title to reflect the change in WIP's Purpose. Later I will add the four unpainted models.

    Vlad Von Carstein

My Reapercon painters entry; he earned a bronze. WIP can be found here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/70844-vlad-von-carstein-wip-for-reapercon/ I don't know why it's that shiny; he's had 2 coats of dullcoat....
  14. I started this guy last year at Reapercon in the Convert a colossal skeleton class, and entered him into the open category at this year's Reapercon; he earned a bronze. WIP is located here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/62739-colossal-skeleton-conversion-for-reapercon-2016/
  15. Since we're down to a little more than a month to the big show, I figured I ought to start working on some of my stuff, right? I didn't enter anything in the painters category last year, and I'd like to change that this year. I've had this figure for a while now, and I figured a horror themed convention was the perfect excuse to try and paint him. I'm not using that base; it's just to hold the figure up for the picture. I've got a resin scenic base that I'll be mounting him on. As I said, I want to enter this figure in the painters category, so please push me hard on this guy. I like hearing that 'he looks good' or whatever, but if you think he doesn't, or I could do something better, please tell me. C&C is not only welcome, but greatly desired. If you google his name, GW's picture of him should be one of the first few results; that's the paint scheme I'm going with. (Well, mostly.) Black armor with gold/brass trim dark red cape

    Arrius, Skeletal Warrior (Bones) (77158)

I'm currently working on the Bones 1 Grave Danger set as I head down the home stretch in my blog goal to paint and post all my Bones 1 Kickstarter minis. Just 11 more to go! This week I painted the Arrius, Skeletal Warrior, figure. I wanted to do something different than the standard grey/silver armor look, so I decided to go with red armor to make him a little more visually exciting. Other than that, it was a straight basic tabletop paint job. For the full step by step painting article, please see my blog: Arrius, Skeletal Warrior

    Scibor Undead Reaper

  18. So I'm trying to finally get my undead army built and hopefully primed. I've got in the realm of 200 miniatures to assemble, and it's my first time really dealing with multi-part minis since up until now 99.5% of my collection has been Bones. Some of them I've already assembled over the last week, some of them I partially assembled about a month or so ago, but most of them are still on their sprues. It's going to be a real experience for me. I'm already running into issues with storage for the assembled ones. The plastic doesn't seem to take well to being thrown in a box. Some of the minis have suffered damage that way. Anyone have any advice on how to store and transport them in a relately cheap manner? *sigh* My phone camera didn't auto-orient the pictures, so they're all upside down...
  19. So I started working on painting my undead army for Kings of War. It's going to take me a LONG time to get everything done at the pace I'm going. This is figure #1 of at least 150, probably closer to 200. The first mini I decided to start with is one of my hero units, Lady Ilona. She's a Mantic sculpt, cast in their resin plastic or whatever they call their "non-resin," non-polystyrene, castable plastic. I got her primed the other day, and laid down some basic colors to sort of get the ball rolling last night. I realized after I'd started painting that I'd apparently not really prepped her and I missed a rather prominent mold line in her torso, her arm, and her feet. They're going to just stay there, because I've got a second copy of her that I can do up later if I feel like being neurotic over it. As it is, I'm aiming for "better than a prepaint" quality, and I think I'm at least meeting that even if I don't get all the seam lines. After all, I've got a ton of these things to do and I can't be spending too much time fussing over a single one. First was her skirt and cape. The cape is straight Khorne Red from GW, while the skirt is a 3:2 mix of Reaper Imperial Purple and Fresh Blood. Next up, I decided to try my hand at doing the eyes, followed by coloring in the skin a bit and blocking in her hair. As is usual for me, the eyes look like crap. She's got kind of a lazy eye/cross-eyed thing going on and one is obviously bigger than the other. Eye whites are Reaper Maggot White, irises are Ultramarine Highlight. Flesh tone is Vampiric Shadow, which doesn't really show up well beside the primer gray, while the hair is Walnut Brown. And, to finish up, I blocked in most of the rest. While I'm pretty sure her dress is supposed to be a one piece deal, I decided to do the upper half in a different color. In this case it's P3 Coal Black, which is more of a very dark turquoise color. The sword blade is just a coating of Brown Liner in preparation for metallic silver of some sort. The shoes and belt got a coating of Vallejo Leather Brown, while the buckle was done in Vallejo Silver. Her arms got themselves a coat of Reaper Rainy Gray in preparation for some metallic or another, probably a silver but possibly a gold or brass. Maybe I'll try my new Scorched Metal on it, since it's getting delivered today.

    Khanjira Reaper!

Hey guys been away for a while painting the mighty Khanjira!! What a great model to add to my ever growing Dungeons and Dragons campaign! I decided to give Khanjira a ghostly haunting look! As always comments are wanted and appreciated! Just to note instead of doing boring stonework for the base I opted for trying out Jade! Let me know if you think it works!
  22. A trio of powerful Undead from Reaper, finished up with some other Undead encounters intended for Frostgrave games. The group: The Lich King (Barrow Warden Mystic) The Giant Skeleton (or should it be Skeleton Giant) And the Colossal Skeleton, so powerful he's busted through the dungeon ceiling (or backdrop, at least)
  23. When I first saw the thread over on the Terrain Forum, where lowlylowlycook was painting up Kalladrax to use as Frostgrave terrain, I thought that it was a really cool idea; and I decided I wanted do the same for my Frostgrave games. So, I picked up a copy of Kalladrax, and last Thursday I got started on the project, and just finished up yesterday. If you'd like to see the full step by step Work-in-Progress thread, please see here on my Frostgrave Terrain thread; otherwise, on to the photos! :) I'm really happy with how this piece came out. I think it will be quite the show-stopper when used as the centerpiece on my Frostgrave table at upcoming conventions.
  24. This is Dragoth the Defiler and his throne, towered by an Undead Zombie Dragon. He will lead my army in Age of Sigmar. :) Magnetized, so he can change between ruling on his throne, and slaughter from his mount. ^^
  25. Hey there guys been away for a while due to illness but while convalescing I made this diorama Its the Tin man arriving at the Wizards lair for a heart. However my Wizard of Oz requires Tin man to prove he deserves his heart through combat! Hope you love the diorama and as always comments are wanted and appreciated!
