So this is 03681: Nazera Bloodraven, Vampire, sculpted by Bobby Jackson. She was something of a windfall surprise gift from an unexpected quarter and came without blister packaging. For some reason, until I looked her up, I thought she was an earlier version of Monique de Noir. I think she might be an older sculpt. She is standing on a thick slab like the lid of a tomb and the bottom is stamped "RMI", which I've mostly seen on older Reaper figures. She has a nice, dynamic flow of lines and forms. Anyhow, she is pretty neat and decidedly sinister, with her bat-motif armor and shield. I prepped her in my usual way for metal figures, a good scrubbing with warm water and dish soap, a gentle filing of mold lines, priming with a thin layer of Titanium White and washed with thinned Burnt Umber. Her face is the only exposed skin showing. I painted it, but thinly, with pure Titanium White, at least for starting out. I made the error the last time I painted a vampire of giving her a light wash of brown for shadows right at the end which made her look too alive. I don't plan to make that mistake this time. I've decided to try to paint her armor iridescent, like a raven's wing. The best way I've found to get that effect is to start with a dark undertone and glaze it with iridescent and interference pigments. To that end I've underpainted her armor and shield dead black using Mars Black, the most opaque of all blacks. (I also painted her sword, since black is also a good undercolor for metallics -- although I may just leave her sword black). The little bits of shine are because the paint is not quite dry in the nooks and crannies.

This is another of the PCs for the "Exalted" campaign set in White Wolf's World of Darkness which I'm currently involved in. This character was a medieval Persian vampire who reverted to human when she Exalted as a Zenith caste Solar. Among other things, she has a sword which shines with the light of the Sun. The figure is from Hasslefree, HFA004 "Kat", sculpted by Kev White. There's a WIP thread here. The lighting effect changes a lot at different angles so I included lots of pictures.

So, I needed a little distraction from all the Reptiles and Amphibians... This guy just has had a nice comfy soapy bath and a trim with an exacto knife. Now drying and waiting for colours. Need to fill the gap between wings and back with plastic putty ( vallejo)

This is a PC for a game of Exalted mashed up with the World of Darkness. The GM is pretty inventive and has found ways to make it work that have all the players pretty interested. For complex reasons (which I do think I will get into somewhere, because this is one fun game), in the modern world a trickle of old-style Exalts have been popping up, which are the PCs. This character is a Persian ex-vampire who reverted to human when the Exaltation hit her. She has a lot of issues. The figure is Hasslefree's HFA004, "Kat". She's dressed a little more wildly than the character, who was mostly a businesswoman and philanthropist, but the sword is about accurate. It's a manifestation of the sun itself. The mini requires some firm pinning of the arms and I added some chunks of pewter under her base to help keep her from toppling over. Here she is primed and washed with Burnt Umber (I left the umber off her sword so that it would have a more intense solar "glow" later on).

So just got done painting some more old school Ral Partha classics, this time a set sculpted by Dennis Mize in 1996 (if you believe the bottom of the base) called Dark Divide, which was based on a Larry Elmore painting: My original thought was to actually paint it a little more faithfully to the original colors, but I ended up doing the gal's dress in green instead of pink and I made the vampire a lot more pale than he was in the painting. Being that the painting shows them being inside, I also just did a very generic bland base, instead of it being outside with dirt and grass, or even by making them over cobblestones or something similar. After seeing how he came out in the photos, I'm not overly happy with the armor for the warrior, but oh well, not going to change it now. I was going to take these pictures yesterday, but I've been using natural light any more to take photos with and it was so cloudy and rainy yesterday that I just couldn't get a decent photo. Anyhow, great fun to paint, pretty simple models, hope you all enjoy!

Just realized I never got around to taking show off pictures of this guy. I had some frosting issues which killed my momentum in my WIP (here) for him, and then he sat around waiting to be fixed. The fix mostly worked, but you'll see a few shots where the light is a little more direct where he ended up shiny. Not a big deal as in most lighting he looks fine. The last few shots will have an alternate rider's top half, I swapped the original Wight out for the top half of Reaper's Judas Bloodspire, sans cape.

This guy's been on the paint table a while. We don't use vampires much and I haven't been inspired to paint him. I didn't want to fall back on the traditional black-on-black paint scheme so I used some subdued colors. I think he came out ok for a lazy day of painting.

Greetings! I've had a couple of half finished Reaper vampires waiting in the (bat) wings for the best part of last year so I thought it was about time that I finished them off...... The second one, presented here, is Gastaroth (the other one is Jahenna). Usually, I get stuck in the same rut when painting vampires by sticking to red, gold & black. However, I've managed to sneak in some dark blue on this one to give him a bit of a regal look & I've also done the armour red which is something slightly different that I've been thinking about doing for a while now (I'd probably have done this gold in the past!). I put a green glaze on the blades to give them an enchanted look. Finally, I did a little bit of sculpting on the base by adding in some smaller slanted stone blocks & grass. These are three classic tiny Old School vampires, originally from Grenadier, now from Mirliton. Two of them I had when I was a child. The Mirliton set is called "NM002 Vampires". The Grenadier vampires were found in two sets: all three in "606 Vicious Vampires" and two of them in "2014 Folklore Creatures of the Night". I think I must have had the second set because the third vampire, the one in the "Aha! Argh" pose, is unfamiliar to me and it was not in that set. The female vampire is tiny. She is so small I was a little uncomfortable with the implications. My husband suggested she be a hobbit (or gnome) vampire and hey, problem solved. WIP thread here.

Elsabeth was my final Painters entry at ReaperCon. I wanted to do a piece with a limited pallet and only cool colors. I had just gotten RMSP Bones: Icy Violet and decided to play with that color on her skirt. It turned out a lot better than I thought it would.

I bought this nice Vinyl RESIN kit from Solarwind. Countess Karnstein. It will take a while before I proceed, But I thought..start the WIP to keep the flow going.. Just a few shots of her compared to Reaper's Elise Pumpkin Witch for size comparison, and a shot next to my ( almost finished ) Legendarion Bust. The Countess is a large Bust.

This is Reaper's 03681: Nazera Bloodraven, Vampire. I love her sculptural forms. Whichever way she is turned, there is some interesting movement going on. Bobby Jackson did a lovely job sculpting her. I used iridescent interference blues and violets on her armor. I am thinking about discussing how I paint reds. WIP thread here.

These are a group of vampires I am painting up for Halloween. They include the Reaper Bones figures 77282: Vampire and 77283: Necromancer (painted up as a vampire, because why not), and the old classic Grenadier Set 606 "Vicious Vampires", now sold by Mirliton Miniatures in Italy (I had that set when I was a child, but for some reason I only remember the swoopy-caped male and the little female; the male in the "flasher" pose I remember not at all). The Bones figures are primed with a wash of Reaper's "Brown Liner", the Grenadier ones with a priming of Titanium White and a wash of Burnt Umber, both Golden Matte Fluid Acrylics. The Grenadier female vampire is rather uncomfortably tiny, something I dealt with (you'll see).

Since we're down to a little more than a month to the big show, I figured I ought to start working on some of my stuff, right? I didn't enter anything in the painters category last year, and I'd like to change that this year. I've had this figure for a while now, and I figured a horror themed convention was the perfect excuse to try and paint him. I'm not using that base; it's just to hold the figure up for the picture. I've got a resin scenic base that I'll be mounting him on. As I said, I want to enter this figure in the painters category, so please push me hard on this guy. I like hearing that 'he looks good' or whatever, but if you think he doesn't, or I could do something better, please tell me. C&C is not only welcome, but greatly desired. This week I began the final 10 countdown of my Bones 1 Kickstarter Painting project, by doing the last of the Grave Danger set I had left to paint: Judas Bloodspire, Vampire. Not a fancy paint job, just getting him table-ready to use in my Frostgrave collection since I've been missing a Vampire figure as listed in the game's random-encounter Bestiary. Is it not possible to order separate pieces anymore? I am doing a new project, and Dragoth would be perfect for it, yet I do not wish to destroy my vampire king and queen diorama, and I don't need another throne. Previously I ordered the throne separately for the queen in said diorama, but now I can not find how to order separate parts? This is Dragoth the Defiler and his throne, towered by an Undead Zombie Dragon. He will lead my army in Age of Sigmar. :) Magnetized, so he can change between ruling on his throne, and slaughter from his mount. ^^

Hey all! I'm starting a Vampire: The Masquerade game in the next week or so and was wondering if anyone had any tips! I have no experience with the game (just picked it up on Humble Bundle last week) but have run a homebrew DnD 5e for the last 9 months or so, as well as playing in a few 5e games. Looking for suggestions for intriguing, engaging plot settings or general tips. I'm limiting my PCs to Camarilla factions for the time being, might open up to Anarchs later, but probably not Sabbat for a good long while, if ever. Thinking LA circa 1990-2000, but I'm not remotely familiar with the city, so that might have to change. It's a little cliche, but it's probably what pops into 4/5 people's heads when you say modern urban vampire. Probably going to draw inspiration for a lot of settings from Angel, as well as gang flicks/shows (casinos, underground fights, private poker games, etc., with the requisite surplus of drugs, scantily clad women, and guns). The PCs are all (or mostly) from different factions, so I like the idea of them forming a de facto coterie, although each PC will have their own motivations and tasks passed down from their own elders. While they are all serving the Camarilla, there will still be power struggles between clans, and each PC might be looking for opportunities to disparage or sully the other clans' reputations while they're working together to complete a task assigned by the Prince. So basically, I have certain goals for the overall intrigue of the campaign, but no specifics for NPCs, settings, or plot hooks. If you've run or played in a V:TM story, what did you like, what did you not like, what worked well, etc. etc. Thanks! So, a modern urban fantasy figure. Hasslefree describes HFA021 Dionne(b) as a vampire werewolf hunter, so I figured I'd paint her skin pretty bloodless. The trench coat and cat suit are my first attempt at monochrome painting, and the base is my first attempt to paint something like asphalt. I like Hasslefree's minis, although the eyes on the whole are awfully small. I painted hers way bigger than the eye sockets, although I can see how painting them as sculpted would make the face look more realistic and rather menacing. Edited to add tags

A litte surprise attack ( No WIP). A quick job , I painted her in 2 hours to try some stuff out. She's from Ironwind Metals ( Ral Partha) and she is a lookalike of Vampirella, only a "bit" more "developed". She might not be nude but she wears so little I decided to link the Pics ..because well she might as well be naked. I had fun painting her and I tried a marble green base, not sure if this worked out, but practice practice...right? Paints involved..The Reaper Vampire Skin Triad..Scale 75 Antares Red, Inktense Red, Chestnut Ink , Elven Gold, Decay Black and Deep Blue. Perhaps my favorite for uniqueness from the recent Hammer and Forge Kickstarter for Song of Blades and Heroes from Ganesha Games, I painted up a group of their Undead Dwarves. I never thought I'd say I painted a Dwarf Vampire or Dwarf Banshee, but now I have!
