Painted for my 9th age force

So I've painted the first five chaos warriors for my upcoming 9th age/AoS army. First time I've tried painting a few minis at once. I've quite liked it and I can't wait to paint more c&c are welcome!

This started when I found fishmen bodies in the trade-in bin at Reapercon. Thanks to everyone who helped me search for hours for the arms. I completely forgot that they had detached tails as well and ended up sculpting some very poor imitations when I got home. Went through the bits box and gave the two big guys some added weapons, one has a sword, the other a magic staff topped with a chunk of coral. Dug out some Bones from one of the KS to add to the mix. Their names are War, Pestilence, Famine, Death, and Bad Gumbo. I finished painting them in December, but just got the bases done this weekend.

Some goblins! John Manor's Goblin Warriors. (That's Tre, right?) I really dug the savageness of these little fellows. I especially love the bunny. Thanks for looking!

Here are some guys I painted up, unfortunately too late, for the PF game I was running the end of last year. I kind of decided, after painting their feathers with Nightmare Black (from the Halloween ghoulie bags), that their clan would be the Blue Crows. Seemed fitting. These were my first PF goblins to paint. They were quite fun. All by Ben Siens. I really love the goblin commando--just a great sculpt. I kind of love goblin dogs, too. Not exactly a goblin dog, but still. I really tried to make him gross With the Bones guys, these were my first Bones painted using Liners to "prime" the figures. I loved the results on that front and will be sticking with it. I liked what it did for the paint going on after it both in terms of how it looked and how it felt--seemed to really knock out the tacky feel. I could be totally wrong, but it really seems to me like the brown and gray liners work better, or at least stick to the Bones better. But anyway. Thanks for looking!

Goldar, Male Barbarian (77047) - 0001.jpg And finished and based, with some Testors Dullcote: Goldar, Male Barbarian (77047) - 0005.jpg Goldar, Male Barbarian (77047) - 0006.jpg If I was to critique myself, I would say that it's time to try a bit more blending on my next one, with an intermediate highlight, and maybe some small extreme hightlights. My highlights were too light, so I had to go back with a flesh wash and blue wash to bring them down a bit. I will also remember to paint the eyes early. I am getting the hang of dilution, but probably need to be less afraid of wasting paint, since the little dabs I work with tend to not be fully mixed, so are weak and chalky. I'll start working with more figures at once so I can use the excess paint next time.

Every now and again I'll do random Give Aways of unpainted figures and painted figures. Recently I did one and forum member Shogun won 5 figures painted by me at table top quality. Now I'm going to be moving somewhere in the next 6 months and I'll be getting rid of every single figure I've ever painted, so keep your eyes open for that one, because it's going to be raining free lead. most of which will be Reaper. Anyway, these are the first two of the five I'm doing, They are male and female Skoli Warriors. All five figures I am painting for Shogun are from Reaper. These frustrated me at first because I'm not used to working with this palette, but I ended up really enjoying these two in the end. I got to do some weathered, rusted metal for the first time and I'm now in love with that technique. Shogun will be basing the figures himself, so I have done no basing. This is the (8th) completed fantasy vignette as listed on my (WIP) forum of fantasy vignette projects posted on (WIP) forum on Oct. 2, 2013. VIGNETTE TITLE...AMAZON SCOUTING PARTY FIGURES...RAL PARTHA (01-152 = 2 Amazons on foot) & (01-153 = Amazon on horseback)... HISTORICAL NOTE...In the very early years of what we would consider (modern era miniature fantasy figures)...Ral Partha (as a way to test the market and morality of the public consumer) manufactured, produced and released a few fantasy miniature figure sets that contained " full frontal nudity...both male & female "...The public consumer was so outraged and the feedback was filled with so much fury and anger...that the sets were recalled and only a few hundred ever made it on to the public market...these few sets are now considered very rare. MOST NOTED OF THESE SETS...(with full frontal nudity)...are (01-152 = 2 female amazons on foot)...(01-153 = female amazon mounted on horseback)...(01-154 = amazon slave chariot with 2 female amazons in chariot/being pulled by 2 full nude male slaves)...(13-031 = 2 headed ogre holding a full nude female in his hand). These sets were circa (1976-1978) and the actual size of the figures was about (18-20mm)...All of these sets were re-cut/re-sculpted with clothing. My third figure. I tried to do layered highlights, which did not work well for me with the skin texture. I would up having to do a bit of dry brushing to correct it. But I'm pretty happy with the result. Don't mind the glue. It's fresh, so it'll dry clear. I am also going to clean up the rim of the base in a big batch once I get a half dozen or so figures done.
